How about you write a story about a girl who is struggling to overcome writers block, and finally transcends her inner-struggle and produces some sort of artwork, which is utterly magnificent but for some reason or another (she get sick, it's stolen, ect...) can never manage to have it published.
In a first person view, (to make the reader feel a connection with the protagonist).
P.s.: To overcome writer's block, I usually try doing something completely different, like going to the gym.

Another good thing to do is that when you get an idea (it doesn't matter if it goes next on the story or if it's the ending of it haha) but always write it down, write it ALL down. Any idea, imagery, or event that could possibly go in your story write it down! because then later on you can come back and add it to your masterpiece, that's what I do :D
I chose 7 rndom words from a novel book, I tried to link them all together, in the end I didin't used all of them but I got an idea to the whole story, In the end the girl I like for whom I wrote the story liked it

word games are awesome for example the ipod shuffle game, what you do is you shuffle your music iver on your computer or on a mp3 player and you write down one of words or phrases from each song and you do this for a number of songs until something clicks in your head which sounds like a good starting or finishing point for a book but if you dont get that moment at least you have a good peom when you read the random song quotes back to your self :)
isn't it kind of hard to come up with cool original ideas, sometimes I come up with cool ideas then think, "hey thats kind of similar to this other thing thats already been made" sometimes I feel like every idea has been taken and I kinda copy them without realizing it until I look back on it
I get inspired to write by reading other stories. Inspiration comes randomly though, and when it does I just write as fast as I can to get my ideas down before I lose all motivation to continue.

I just go, I've found if I stop to think I'll lose the moment and then I have to scrap my idea. The way I see it, its like surfing, you have to watch for every wave and then get your ass in gear and ride it as long as it will take you. Thankfully Tumblr has a blackberry app so I'm usually prepared
Maybe you would make a blog. You could write the first post and the beggining of a story and then ask people for ideas and write the rest of the story using the ideas. It could be fun for you and for the peeps. Good luck with writing. :)

I'm more of the reader than writer even thou I have a lot of ideas. Once I had this really "good" idea and I started writing but I only wrote 14 lines and then gave up. I still have it on my computer somewhere.
I've never consider myself a writer, I'm more of a visual artist, but when I do have to write(oh yeah it happens), I usually sit down at my computer, and if I'm not feeling creative enough I'll distance myself from the project and go work on something else, other time writing comes naturally. Also I'm currently taking a screenwriting class and that helps out a lot.

I usually use most of the tips you gave. It usually comes to me out of nowhere, though. No matter how much I think about it, the ideas won't come to me unless I'm doing something, like the dishes. If you wanna get it published when it's done, do self-publishing through lulu(dot)com. I'm currently working on a book and it's gonna be published through them. I hope this helps. =D

I have so many ideas writing down mainly for movies and novels, some ideas for games, and i havent heard anything bad from people i told them about, some ideas people get real excited about(and so do i lol).
Music helps me a lot in the creative process, i put headphones and just let my brain take me away.
@scootsie119 yes i do that too, make up random things for movies,games, etc and i've always tried to make them all come true in an actual spacial form and not just in my head. some have succeeded, most have failed, but i will never stop imagining and thinking about concepts,even if they never actually become something.
Try watching a lot of anime :) maybe you'll get some inspiration for your novels ^^ ( Bleach, Soul Eater, Hellsing, D-Gray Man, bla-bla-bla, yada-yada...)
Random input. If you get stuck add some randomness to the process. Use random word generators, stick your finger randomly into a thesaurus, pick a random news report, whatever. Then see if you can combine ideas and characters.
Also, think of an ending or twist FIRST. Either the end or the start. Something random that would blow you out if you saw it in real life, but couldn't obviously figure out. Then, like a puzzle, try and resolve that twist in the actual story.
.... the earth being destroyed due to a worldwide riot, masterminded by one guy, for reasons I can't say. Before the riots, he took vacations to another planet and developed it so people could live on it. Once he started the riot, everyone was forced to move there, and live under his control. There are several twists with one major twist at the end, and is definitely hard to talk about without either giving things away, or taking hours to explain it.

Then it becomes like a sketch: I rough in the main plot points first and then add more detail as it progresses. I draft once, scribble revisions and shit all over the pages then draft again, basically trying to edit out everything I don't like. @purplebox182 shaddixj is making a reference to the Stephen King novel and Stanley Kubrick film "The Shining". I don't understand the connection either other than you are trying to write, and jack torrance is a writer. the line is "all work and no play make jack a dull boy", making a reference to the fact that Jack had lost his mind at this point and was no longer writing. and for that matter, was no longer jack. :) knowledge is power! i guess...
I do writing as a form of procrastinating. And, when I start writing, I realize that this is something I should stop doing as procrastinating, and I start working on other things just to procrastinate from writing. And this all ends in a big circle where I acctually end up being very... "Productive". :P
the period when I'm most inspired is before i fall asleep, that time when it's dark, and i just wait to fall asleep, that's the time when i get most of my good ideas, of course the next day i forget them, or i just don't write them down out of lazyness.. but once i really needed that inspiration for a contest, so i went to bed and kept my phone close, and that night i wrote my poem on it and saved it in drafts xD and of course the next day i... la dracu cu engleza, urmatoarea zi l-am "slefuit"

I usually use most of the tips you gave. It usually comes to me out of nowhere, though. No matter how much I think about it, the ideas won't come to me unless I'm doing something, like the dishes. If you wanna get it published when it's done, do self-publishing through lulu(dot)com. I'm currently working on a book and it's gonna be published through them. I hope this helps. =D

i love writing. i just realized recently that its my passion and i should really work on it. cuz im a very creative person and i suck at drawing (but im getting better with the drawing class im taking for my Graphic Design degree) and ive tried guitar and jsut cant do it. im good at piano, but my brother already does the music thing (u can check him out on my channel if interested itsBLiSSTV lol shameless plug).

@scootsie119 ..distracted alot and i dont have that good of a vocab, or even trying to put things in detail sometimes, but im getting better. i try using one of those word a day things.
I have so many ideas writing down mainly for movies and novels, some ideas for games, and i havent heard anything bad from people i told them about, some ideas people get real excited about(and so do i lol).
Music helps me a lot in the creative process, i put headphones and just let my brain take me away.

@scootsie119 yes i do that too, make up random things for movies,games, etc and i've always tried to make them all come true in an actual spacial form and not just in my head. some have succeeded, most have failed, but i will never stop imagining and thinking about concepts,even if they never actually become something.

Try watching a lot of anime :) maybe you'll get some inspiration for your novels ^^ ( Bleach, Soul Eater, Hellsing, D-Gray Man, bla-bla-bla, yada-yada...)

Random input. If you get stuck add some randomness to the process. Use random word generators, stick your finger randomly into a thesaurus, pick a random news report, whatever. Then see if you can combine ideas and characters.
Also, think of an ending or twist FIRST. Either the end or the start. Something random that would blow you out if you saw it in real life, but couldn't obviously figure out. Then, like a puzzle, try and resolve that twist in the actual story.

.... the earth being destroyed due to a worldwide riot, masterminded by one guy, for reasons I can't say. Before the riots, he took vacations to another planet and developed it so people could live on it. Once he started the riot, everyone was forced to move there, and live under his control. There are several twists with one major twist at the end, and is definitely hard to talk about without either giving things away, or taking hours to explain it.

@purplebox182 Hahaha, I've never seen Wall-E.... is that what happens?? Hahahaha. It's really a sci fi story, but based on things that have really happened in my life, so in a way, it's a non fictional, science fiction story, hahaha. Yeah, if only I wasn't so lazy and would just work on it, I would have been done by now. I have about 65 chapters planned out, I just have to write it, haha. It's a lot of work though. I always write a lot, and come back a month later and change everything!

I get an idea, usually just one word or a really striking image or concept off the tv or on the internet. Then it becomes like a sketch: I rough in the main plot points first and then add more detail as it progresses. I draft once, scribble revisions and shit all over the pages then draft again, basically trying to edit out everything I don't like. Tbh I write like other people may read, and, if I get writer's block I'm usually distraught XD

I don't understand the connection either other than you are trying to write, and jack torrance is a writer. the line is "all work and no play make jack a dull boy", making a reference to the fact that Jack had lost his mind at this point and was no longer writing. and for that matter, was no longer jack. :) knowledge is power! i guess...

I do writing as a form of procrastinating. And, when I start writing, I realize that this is something I should stop doing as procrastinating, and I start working on other things just to procrastinate from writing. And this all ends in a big circle where I acctually end up being very... "Productive". :P

the period when I'm most inspired is before i fall asleep, that time when it's dark, and i just wait to fall asleep, that's the time when i get most of my good ideas, of course the next day i forget them, or i just don't write them down out of lazyness.. but once i really needed that inspiration for a contest, so i went to bed and kept my phone close, and that night i wrote my poem on it and saved it in drafts xD and of course the next day i... la dracu cu engleza, urmatoarea zi l-am "slefuit"
