It's incredible! I was watching the original version to get down the chords for the group in which I play and what I found in the video responses? You my friend... Of course awesome as always! How are things going Jake?
Thank you! One of the first videos I uploaded was of "I just wanna stop". My intentions were good but the video medium was new to me and I didn't do a good job with paying attention to details, both music and production wise, so maybe I'll re-upload it one day... Otherwise all is well, I will have two new DVDs coming out soon on the Hal Leonard label, I'm very excited!
@jreichbart I'd really be excited in your place.. Hal Leonard is the top quality musical sheets editor (from Real Books to Alan Parsons Project just to name some) so surely he's a name on the music market. Best wishes!
Thanks Nick, you know I really enjoy your playing as well! I'm just a bit embarrassed you looked at some of my early videos but also glad you found some of the newer ones. Although I play here mostly solo guitar I have a handful of lead videos I'd love for you to check out. Thanks again!
Hi Jake, excellent playing again. Really enjoyed! If I may ask: what is your setup?? You seem to get a really nice tone from your guitar...are you using any pedals or what amp do you have? all the best, -u.
Thank you! I don't have some great secret: When i do my videos I go direct into the computer with the regular neck pickup going through a Yamaha DG Stomp preamp. I also have a piezo pickup at the Bridge which I blend very little in for a little extra definition and attack. That goes also straight into the computer. Live, I use the same stuff just going into two combo amps. This probably doesn't help much, sorry...
Thank you! I use nails w/acrylic I get done at a nail salon. I get them redone every 4-6 weeks or so. With acrylic I get lots of power and I don't have to worry about breaking them, they are very tough.
In addition to your very fine soloing, improvisation, jazz section ,in your channel, you play also great songs, like this with your special touch. I am agree with you, And i see we got a lot in common.Gaucho, aja,SD,GV,AH,but man,i can figure out only the choice of 10 lp,from all times,i can not forget, ffffff,a lot,i can not do that thing,
;-)
The nightfly,(DF)four corners(YJ)and also metal fatigue by AH,All from Metheny, and many others...
Police,also,toninho Horta,but for me,there are also songs,and solos,if we say all,and wes M. got a lot of lines,solos,chords,ffffmelodies,but here we are talking about,.....,jejeje music.SOngs,solos,improvisations,melodys,harmonys,
rhythms, groove, style, good taste, (i dont know how to say : CLASE, really lessons of how to play songs with the guitar, and much more, all of that you are, jake. Thank you,for spreading inspiration. ;-)
Here in Spain,i was in two groups that doing covers, tributes to GIno vanneli, one, and the other for
Steely dan.ANd here in Madrid,we called the bands,"los vannellis" and "Estilo Dan",and that was one of the best ear training deep in harmonies, melodies, arrengements, solos, impro, variations, developments, and
many more things,i enjoyed that days,transcribing the amazing solo by MR.Carlos Rios¿where are you?in brother 2 brother,note by note,and with my 335,and some drive,mmmm,
Thank you for all the comments! Of course there are many other choices for top 10, and there are much more than 10. But for me, when I heard Brother To Brother the first time, I was in "musical shock" for months and it influenced my development, it is truly a masterpiece. I play other GV songs, I was thinking of uploading Love Of My Life. But next on the list I have more Metheny, ABBA, Gershwin, Foreigner... BTW, my next video will be a sample from my guitar lesson DVDs, check it out. Thanks!
hi,Jake, you 're just right on time, you promessed it for spring and you're one week earlier! really nice power ballad from gino vannelli and as usual you play it with such good feeling.
I can say only: EXCELENT GUITAR PLAYER. And one question for Mr.Jake Reichbart: Have you realised any CD till now? If you have, please tell becouse I would like to have it.
Thank you! Yes, I actually have two official CDs, 'long ago and far away' and '16 songs'. If you go to my personal website, look under the audio tab, you may even be able to hear some audio samples. Let me know if interested.
Excellent dynamics, fantastic attack especially the wee bluesy licks and the nice move from Am7 to Bm7 (I think?). Interesting choice of albums but I'd have to go with Aja (certainly not a controvertial choice) As for Holdworth - have you ever heard an album called Feels Good To Me by Bill Bruford? Excellent performances by all concerned but especially nice haunting stuff by Holdsworth. With solos do you think his brain really works that fast or is it just reactions?
Thanks! Regarding the record choices: I have all Holdsworth stuff from the 70's (and even something earlier...) and it's great but on IOU he did HIS thing, his compositions, his tone, no limitations on how long the solos were and the result is stunning. Regarding SD, I think most people prefer Aja and I even read Fagen and Becker themselves hated the two years it took them to do Gaucho. And yet there is something about it that makes it special to me. Personal preference, I suppose. Thanks again!
Oh No question .Same experience with brother to brother and first time I heard the chords in My Cherrie amour actuallu i gather same thing happens to you chords move your spirit more than lyrics in song

I usually find posts and music videos like this to be very hokey. I don't know who you are, but you NAILED IT !!!!
This is one of the best written songs from the Gino Vannelli Collection. You delivered it in an effective way.

It's interesting to me how diverse some people's musical taste can be. I mean Holdsworth and Gino Vanelli? Never would have expected that.
In any event, really fine guitar work.
