BTW the speedo on your car is off by a few miles because manufacturers are afraid of lawsuits, if they try to get it exactly, and an error makes it indicate a speed slower than your actual speed, and you get into an accident/a ticket because of the overspeed, you can sue them for lots and lots of money. They don't want that, so they set their speedo to indicate a higher than actual speed.

i think the I phone is a toy for children. Your problem is laminated glass reflects two images. true putting a polarized film on the windscreen. during the day this willnot be as effective.

This is all nice and everything, but remember guys REAL HUDs have infinty focus so you dont get dizzy from constantly looking at the hud then the road, it looks like the hud is on the road, and they also dont curve with the windshield, and you can see them perfectly night or day cause of the special windshield used, so nice and everthing, but not a real HUD and waste of money

because the usual light source are LEDs which are projected on the windscreen. I don't think that you can adjust the brightness of your iphone's screen like the sensor of a normal HUD does automatically...

@TiBoCars I haven't tried this, but actually the iPhone does have a light meter and automatically adjusts brightness according to the environment. Though I think no matter what, you'd just want to leave it on the brightest setting if you're using it as a HUD.

this will also works on a ipod touch G3 as it has GPS built in, used they go for about 150-250

the app is under 3 bucks and there are a few of them to choose from, some with radar cam warnings too. =)

Yes.... You can actually do this with anything. You can even print out a map reversed on paper, put it on your dash, and have a cheap, non dynamic HUD lol. That being said, car windshields aren't really optimized for this sort of task, and you will notice 'ghosting', or a slight 'double' reflection, but at these prices it isn't a big deal.

Very nice - but cannot compete with installed ones regarding ease of use. For this one, everytime you drive, you have to stick it on the dash (hopefully using a velcro or something) - and then if a call comes, or need to run another app you need to pick it up and put it back when done - it is a LOTs of hassle. I would rather go with installed ones and they are more accurate - as they are connected mechanically.
