that is excacly my problem. I have this movie i made from my cellphone Its a MPEG-4 movie, and i have tried everything to edit it on windows movie maker, but it doesnt accept it. Plus when i click on import a video the file comes up empty ? plz help me !
ok i record a vid with camstudio,use windows movie maker for effects..then it saves it as a windows movie maker project,and when i try to upload..youtube says unable to convert to video file or what ever? any help?

It may be made with an odd codec. Try converting it to DivX or WMV or Xvid using a program like MediaCoder. Look for a video, such as JimmyR's on how to configure CamStudio or the screen recorder you use.
If I remember correctly, you can't use videos on the storyboard, the timeline is a replacement of the storyboard. If you mean from the top to the bottom, click and drag it to the bottom strip and let go.

Soryy, don't think you can. I'm not an expert on Windows Movie Maker, just figured I'd some people the basics. You might try looking on the web or just messing around with it.
and how to we convert it to .avi og a .mp4?

No, you need to convert it to .avi or a .mp4 for it work correctly.

You're exporting the movie right? Not just saving it as a mwmpf or something like that? Exporting may take 1-2 hours where saving is almost instant.

You need to use either HandBrake (all platforms) or AutoGK (Auto Gordian Knot) win only. I may make a guide on it later.

You need to convert it using a program like MediaCoder to .avi format. Search youTube for a tutorial.

I'm pretty sure Vista comes with Windows Movie Maker. Type it in the search on the start menu. Try "movie maker"
And it will probably come up.
