Even if you didn't know the answer, you would be given the answer just by looking at the 4 choices, because as Dan said, the choices revolve around 93, making it an obvious 93 million.

Such an easy question. When this question came up while watching it live I blurted out the answer before there were any choices on the screen. You learn this in 4th grade when you learn about the solar system. Plus even if you didnt know how many miles away it is, you could still figure it out if you know the speed of light and that it takes approx 9 minutes to reach the earth. 180k miles per second times 540 seconds.
When I took astronomy in college, we had to know the difference between the Earth and Sun in METRIC terms. I'm surprised he learned it in miles instead.
SUCH an easy million dollar question. My goodness I also knew it without seeing the choices. I'm not the biggest on astronomy but I do know that question.
The reason why this question is so easy has NOTHING to do with the subject matter, but with the answer choices. As Dan said, all the answer choices revolved around "93 million". Looking at the question alone will probably stump about 95% of all of you, because it's your standard "Millionaire" $1 Million question-- an obscure fact about a subject everybody knows about (the solar system). If the choices we something like 58M, 77M, 82M, and 93M, Dan might not have gone for it.
Wait. So THIS was the guy I saw the question for!!!! OK not to sound arrogant or anything, but I haven't been taught anything about the Solar System in my whole life except by myself. I kind of knew this since I was 5.... Call this spam if you want but I'm not kidding.
I'm sick of seeing "I knew the answer and I'm only (insert age here)." The contestants on this show are usually in their forties and fifties. You may know it because you're young, but you're in school learning stuff RIGHT NOW. Some of these people haven't learned anything in a classroom in over 20 something years. Try remembering something from that long ago as specific as that and I give you props.
I know that sometimes this has occurred with a very simple question being the 1 million dollar or pound question. I think that in those cases they are trying to see if the contestant will be overcome with anxiety and screw up on the answer. I'm sure it is very hard to think clearly when you are up on that seat and are only one question away from winning the show and having a very large sum of money being handed to you.
I saw this one when it first aired on TV!
