Naa Pagans don't believe. paganism isn't religion in finland, as one might say. It's way of life. it's attached to Finnish languange, to it's culture and it's ways. While christianity is just religion, old ways help survive better in hard cold north :) they are different things. pagan gods are replaced by christianity, yes, but the ways are always same.

If you don't believe, then you aren't pagan, no matter how entwined the myths or deities may be in your culture (which is very strongly in the case of Finish culture). I say this from being pagan myself. -- Christianity also has a culture, may I add (a rather strong one, which often bring peoples' beliefs far from those of doctrine). Every religion has its own culture.

Then again concept of religion is paradox in itself lol all think they believe in truth while willingly admitting that it's just religion, something you just believe. @Verilepakko I personally don't think Väinämöinen would've been so anti-christianity. The Finnish didn't mind mixing Christian beliefs w/ their own b/c then there were more stories they could tell. That's just what I read though. Väinämöinen would have been upset if the ppl had rejected the old ways entirely but he's far from forgotten, so I think he'd be fine. Pagan deities are usually okay with ppl worshiping multiple deities, especially if they're from a pantheon

Merlin is, after all, believed to be heavily based on the character of Wainamoinen ("Old Man"), and I think it'd be reasonable to assume that the album covers depict Wainamoinen, the main hero of the Kalevala.
