i have never understood why anyone believed anything glenn beck 'reported' on fox. one night while on shift i was tuning through the radio and came across beck's radio show, and listened long enough to hear him say something along the lines of "I'm an entertainer, I'm not a news person. I don't know what I'm talking about half the time and don't even believe the other half."
What scares me, truly scares me, is that I've spoken with people who take Glenn seriously. That said, I've never thought him a comedian as I've never heard anything from him that I would laugh with. As to Stephan Colbert, I've never watched his show. I'm more of a stand up comic person than a comic show watcher.

@CafeAlpha I agree with you mostly, but these clips weren't simply Colbert "deliberately mocking Beck"; in each comparison Colbert made, the clip from the Colbert Report preceded the clip from Glen Becks show. If one of those men copied the other, it was Beck copying Stephen Colbert (which would say a lot about how fake Beck really is, but that probably wasn't really Beck's intent).
since when does a person need to be a journalist in order to be able to speak about his or her research. Why is a man being mocked for his previous career? Are you saying that only a politician is is qualified to speak about what goes on in our country? First of all, journalist report what they are told to regardless of the true story behind it. Its a competition for viewers. Politicians are considered to be even worse because they are the people behind the scenes.
I always wondered if some of the "pundants" on FOX faked their personality on purpose. I'm sure, if they do, they get the artistic satisfaction of creating an intended negative reaction while making it appear like it isn't the intention. What scares me, truly scares me, is that I've spoken with people who take Glenn seriously. That said, I've never thought him a comedian as I've never heard anything from him that I would laugh with. As to Stephan Colbert, I've never watched his show. I'm more of a stand up comic person than a comic show watcher.

both shows work to create confusion whether they know it or not. beck seems more targeted at taking an idea that has some truth to it and killing it by letting crazy present the wrong points. colbert and stewart bury points further by mocking the crazy who presented the most wacked out version. on top of that if we follow the logic of crazy bs on news channels, than sane thought on channels that present as bs can have an equally damaging effect. edward bernays know the name + how he worked

As for Colbert, Colbert was probably deliberately copying and mocking Beck all along. So the parallel makes a great joke, but doesn't prove anything.
The differences between the two are that Colbert is sane and honorable.

@CafeAlpha I agree with you mostly, but these clips weren't simply Colbert "deliberately mocking Beck"; in each comparison Colbert made, the clip from the Colbert Report preceded the clip from Glen Becks show. If one of those men copied the other, it was Beck copying Stephen Colbert (which would say a lot about how fake Beck really is, but that probably wasn't really Beck's intent).

I always wondered if some of the "pundants" on FOX faked their personality on purpose. I'm sure, if they do, they get the artistic satisfaction of creating an intended negative reaction while making it appear like it isn't the intention. Simply put: Fooling people without them knowing they're being fooled on purpose. It's probably amusing for the "pundants" fooling people, but it's really frustrating for the public who just want the facts. Colbert at least makes it apparent, Beck is more sly.

Show me where fox news advertised glen becks show as a comedy rather than an opinion show and I will concede that glen beck is a comedian. I would like to add that it is the discussion of the self admitted moron/mormon that I find funny and not him. This is why I have trouble with the definition of comedian. It also does my head in to think fox news is intended to be 20% news 80% comedy rather than opinions. I really don't think fox sees it that way and that is what matters.
