@2nanfer - sorry mate, if CHICO BUARQUE could ever choose a guy to do this in Swedish it would be Cornelis. What you are doing is like calling CHICO BUARQUE a cheap idiot for making a Chet Baker cover. You just have no idea who Cornelis is. The man was nothing short of genious.
@abonpost He can be a cheap idiot but would never have the same attitude (stereotypin poor women as prostitutes). I aint talkin about music here "mate" (music=chemistry) although this "much more straight forward text" really irritated me (I have the impression that europeans think they know more about other countries than natives themselves). Since Im the ignorant here would you mind naming Chet Bakers song pliz, got curious about that. ps. I really dont g*** a f*** to who Cornelis is.
Dessa FI-fientliga låtar är så osvenskt som finns! han var från ett land där freiheit existerar på mångt flere plan än i sverige. Tacka faan att han inte ville bli svensk!
@2nanfer. it's not really a cover. This text is much more straight forward than "Quem Te Viu, Quem Te Vê" and tells (in first person) about a very poor girl who sells samba lessons on the beach. It's obvious from the text that she sells other services as well.
("And if you feel like making love
we've ended up in the right place.
Forbidden, of course,
but hotels are so very dreary.")

@ianmorgan70 - As I feared, cheap plaggio. He uses the song to make his money and implicitly says Brazilian ladies are whores. What a joke "straight forward text". Hes just not man enough to do that in Brazil and in Brazilian. Just to register here: CHICO BUARQUE who MADE THIS SONG and the corresponding lyrics to it meant something about how a woman and her attitudes towards a man have changed with time. Jazz is out there. Choro, Samba, Bossa has been played in Brazil and been sung in Brazilian.
@2nanfer I don't get your point. Yes, he's calling Brazilians sluts, yes, he makes money on it. No, he's not Brazilian. Why would he sing about this in Brazil?

När jag var barn tyckte min mamma om att ta fram gitarren och spela och sjunga den här låten och tvinga mig att sjunga med. Sedan dess har jag ogillat den här sången.
My former swedish girlfriend from Stockholm had bought me all of his songs. I am English but I lived as a child in Rio de Janeiro and I can tell you that he is very talented. I also like Veronica and other even better tracks. He was so talented. I love hearing him. It is deep and very musical and interesting how he does it.
He spoke and sang in swedish with swedish accent. He was 12 years old when he came to Sweden and learned swedish in just a few months.

I suppose this a cover from Chico Buarque's song. Look after "Chico Buarque" song "Quem te viu quem te ve".

Wonderful. Nice picture of him! He made a lot of sambas. Cornelis Vreeswijk lives! His dutch songs are also very good in my opinion.

No accent what so ever (If you don´t count his pronounced Stockholm accent) He did however record a lot of his songs in dutch aswell.

Great singer. I've always wondered how much of a Dutch accent did Vreeswijk have and is that part of his charm?
BesACB 3 years ago
No particular accent at all - but that doesn't reduce his charm ;)

@thobrik He actually had quite a distinct Stockholm accent, but yeah, he had no Dutch accent whatsoever.

@BesACB Actually he adopted a Stockholm accent. You can’t hear that he’s not from Sweden at all and his Swedish is better than most Swedes’ today.
