The Medal of Honor has been jaded. I am a former Jarhead, myself and due to some terrible nightmares I've looked into the problems we've had. Everyone who wears a uniform knows that the armed forces aren't given as much recognition as they should, what they don't know of it is the severeity. 3,450 Medal of Honor recipients since 1861 (21 twice) and only 10 in the past 40 years. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot over.
north america must sustain this medal of honor for a real hero like raphael peralta . north america must sustain the nomination to fernando peralta for the medal of honor .
yes he is a california resident but we are sure this medal is not given to him because he is also a mexican inmigrant, north america is a ungrateful nation and for so it is not recomended to give your life in defense of this nation because americanswill never recognize what latin people can do for them.
@MrRahatma The only thing mexico has "done" for North America is supply it with drugs, swine flu and feckless mexican immigrants. Furthermore, Peralta was not awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor because Peralta was shot through the head and fell on the grenade; it was not an intentional act on his part.
i am making a little short movie about 2 men paul r smith and this man. i did some research and say that it said he didnt not get hte medal of honor it said the medal right unerneath the medal of honor, but i think bullshit this man desereves the medal of honor. he sacraficed his live for his men. also i agree with Equinoxioprouctions. thumbs up if u agree with me
I can guarandamntee you that if this had happened to the Taliban, they'd have kicked the damn grenade towards someone else. This selfless sacrifice is what seperates Americans and Brits from the chickenshits of the world. We're not over there to destroy everything, just the garbage, even if it means sacrificing ourselves to see it through.
You do realize they were behind a wall, correct? I can only assume, having been in combat, that you know when a solid meets another solid of greater density, that it bounces back, right? Thank you for your great words of wisdom, I feel better enlightened by your posting.
only having the information in the video I can say I was not aware of that fact. however what happened in the video has nothing to do with the hypothetical situation regarding what a Taliban would do with an active grenade.
I don't know how causes people to jump on top of grenades (unless their strength is so depleted that they cannot physically do much else) but throwing it back seems like it would be the best chance of accomplishing two key objectives (surviving and eliminating the enemy)
That's not it, Gauche. These are our brothers. We eat with them, train with them, party with them, bleed with them. They're a part of us and we're a part of them. As for picking up the ordinance and throwing it back. That would be ideal and if the grenade had a longer delay, it would have been possible to do just that. But they were fighting from an elevated position and the travel time ate up most of the delay. Peralta didn't hesitate and sacrificed himself so that his brothers would live.
He got it. Which is surprising because it was potencially politically charged. Part of what is left out of thisis the award took a very long time and the Pentagon sent out a panel of experts. The video leaves out that before SGT Peralta tucked the grenade under him he had been shot up in the face and upper torso and wa sin the line of fire. The Pentagon doughted that with his injuries he would have the motorskills and presence of mind to do what his battle buddies stated.
vhw11atr... I have stated all you need to make an intelligent opinion. But You are stupid and a sofa hero in the tradition of 2LT GW Bush. Just pls do not join the Army or MC. 2LT Bush was awarded the Coors MoH with Coca leaf for valorously defending Margaritaville from an unlikely Cuban invasion, while AWOL during Spring Break 1972, with complete disregard for his own health (liver) and safety (passing out in the alley).
2nd L.T. Bush's C.O., Captain Morgan, said "I don't recall him."
so wait, before he was approved for the MOH, the officials thought that because he had been shot, that he didn't know he was falling on the granade! They really thought that he " happened " to fall on top of it.... MOD all the way!
@wel999999999 The chain of command (US side) ignored all reports that he reached out and pulled the grenade to himself. The mortal wound was caused by a friendly. The Commanding General consulted neurologists who said the act was not likely a consious act. The kicker is, is that any award for heroism requires a concious act so the Navy Cross should not have been awarded using the same logic for not awarding the Medal of Honor. No living MOH recipient would have denied the award.
so what is your point? Do you think getting your head shot off and still saving your fire team instead of getting out of the way of danger is not worthy of te MoH?? What are you getting at?
my point is that not any one can get it you have to be the best of the best and by you saying what you said shows you are just sum fucking kid or you dont know shit about the us mil. so if you dont know what the fuck you are talking about than just shut the fuck up ok shit bag.
First off mother fucker I am a paratrooper with thre mother fucking GWOT deployments. What the fuck to you have? Except for your stupid now empty cockholster. Secondly if anyoe does not know what they are talking about it is you. Notice you completelly ignore the information I put out to you regarding what happened with Peralta and what this clip does not mention. SECOND YOU COMPUTERGAME PLAYING COCK LOVER YOu dont get the MoH for being the best of the best. What a crock of shit.
This precedening r for sofa warrior6 (= vhw11atr). As I said you DONT get the MoH for being the best of the best. That would be hoyaah shit like the best ranger etc (All macho BS) No doubt you are a fucking idiot. You get the MoH for going above and beyond. That's why most of them are awarded postumously. Read what SGT Perala did. His was Head pretty much blown off and then he saved his buddies by clinching a frag. No doubt you are some young republcan cocksucker you piece of shit.

a true hero, just shows how people are patriotic for the USA, him coming in then killing himself for others and his country. he deserves that medal every bit. R.I.P brother from Vermont!
"I was that which others did not want to be, I went where others feared to go and did what others failed to do, I asked nothing from those that gave nothing and reluctantly accepted the thought of eternal loneliness should I fail, I have cried, pained and hoped; but most of all I have lived times others would say are best forgotten. Great a Shave tail. I was 3-1 CAV. Still MoH is not for bestof the best. That's hooyah crap. it's for people who went trully above and beyond and by its nature usually were killed or severelly maimed. Sergeant Rafael Peralta (April 7, 1979--November 15, 2004) assigned to 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Base Hawaii, was a United States Marine killed in combat during Operation Phantom Fury in the city of Fallujah, Iraq.
