What a Gutsy Effort with a MOST difficult piece of (famous) Music ! Well Done :)

From the alternating subtle&delicate-to-strong strings & woodwinds, to dynamic brass&percussion leads&mixes, multi-harmonies & changing lilt overall,

this is a most challenging composition for ANY Band or Orchestra - considering

Joel Goldsmith SIMULATED a real 80-piece symphony orchestra(via SYNTHESIZER palette) for the TV series ie.no human error.Always room for Improvement tho.Keep Practising & check tuning :)

I have TV CD and they're playing the music part where Samuels and his driver are pulling up to Jack's house. At least that's what I see in my head when I hear it. LOL Other than that, yes, it was a good attempt to play it.

Sorry, I correct myself on Tip 4. It's not the oboe player that needs replacing. But the trombones need to pick up their act. And coming from a trombonist of over 10 years... saying that makes me sad. My high school band won awards... we'd have never settled for anything like this.

Tip 1: Make sure you have all tuned to the concert band C Major first (Bb major for some instruments.)

Tip 2: When it says 'forte' that does not mean everyone. I can't hear half the parts because another section (woodwind anyone?) is drowning them out. Do they even have a trombone player playing?

Tip 3: The conductor needs to learn balancing of instruments.

Tip 4: Replace the oboe player.

Tip 5: Practice a lot more using tips 1, 2, 3 and 4. A LOT.

But you're right, all instruments are not tuned, and the arrangement is not perfect...

Look all thoose haters! This is actually pretty good for a highschool band, I find it good. some of them played some parts wrong and yes awful but in general this is really good for a school band.

And the best part is the chef letting students play something cooler then classic shitty high school band musics.

Why am I reading this and seeing people compare this to the quality of the theme on tv? Do you people honestly think what looks to be at best a highschool honor band could come close to that? Just enjoy the young musicians and their efforts rather than taking some uselessly critical perspective.

I personally really like this, thanks for putting this up. Still, I think the SG-1 version on television is much better, mostly because it has better instruments (though I don't even really know what they are). Though I think themes are usually too short (since I love them so much...) I think this version is really dragged out (since its twice as long as the TV version) and goes for 40 seconds after I thought it ended.

The music they are reading is wrong.

They are playing the theme from the show but with the notes from the movie.

In the SG-1 theme, the next to last note in the repeating part of the main body should be a whole-step higher than they play.
