I think he does this song wonderfully well. It's a song of liberation and being true to yourself and who you are with no apologies. I saw someone who had played the same part as John, on Jerry Herman Hollywood Bowl Special, and he just sounded mad when he sang it. This is better, strong, and fierce. Unashamed and positive rendition with a strong, strong ending.
He has a lovely voice but not at all suited to this song having seen the show with Dougie and Adrian singing it with such feeling and John is so talented I feel he lets himself down only my opinion though xx
really, do you think he ruins it. I know it's not quite as much feeling as when itws perfomed in the context of the play but i've heard him say in interveiws that he has two different versions of the song the one he does in the play and the one that he does in interveiws and on tv shows and stuff. Anyways i'm rambling (and biased) so i'll just stop xx lol
having seen him perform this song in La Cage Aux Folles I have to disagree with you, like xkadie999x said, he has two versions of this song, this being the more 'showy' version. In La Cage he sings with so much feeling and conviction you could almost cry
Thanks for uploading and how was it yesterday. What was the crowd like yesterday and it a full audience in Goucester Hall yesterday? I would love to hear an update if you don't mind. I was in the Arundel concert a week ago and it was amazing. Thanks.
Your welcome. Yeterday was fantastic fantastic fantastic (i know lame joke xx hehe) The crowd was amazing, except from the side where i was sat, no one was clapping along or cheering and i felt a right plonker screaming for him. It was a full audience but not an expecially big one, but it was still really great =D
