I think I know what you mean, because when I imagine this same scenario with them saying "because 'Allah' tells us it's the right thing to do" I, too, would back away. But I guess what they r trying to say is that Jesus loves us so much, that he actually died for us so that we could do our best in this world!! And give it our all! And so no matter one's 'god' I believe the love that Jesus showed can transcend belief systems and catapult greatness! It is what he died for and yearns for us to know
