Wampler kills others, not to mention bypass and much better grade of internal components. Brian's designs are not clones or copies. Wampler pedals breath more and have a transparent quality, the OD and gains are top shelf, plus the blend on the compressor is something most do not have. Country guys love compressors but for me as a heavy fusion player they just make the tone and add so much to your articulation and response. Transparent w out a lot of squeeze or tone loss really a superb pedal..
A compressor is used to either add more sustain to notes, add "squish" to notes/chords, or even out dynamics. Sometimes it's something u feel than hear, esp in these utube demos
To be fair to Brian Wampler, with the blend knob at half, the ego compressor was only giving you half of it's compression power, blending the original signal back in. I'd like to see if the cs-2 stands up to the ego with the blend full and the level up a little like the boss was.
@nirvanachristian the boss cs3 is crap pal not sure about the cs2. but def dont go for a super dyna comp cause they would break your heart....the best one by far is the wamnpler ago compressor, and would need to be at 185 stg's..hope this helps
Great demo, thanks so much. This vid sold me on the CS-2. The other two sound great as well, but the Boss has just the right balance of transparency, squish, and punch. I've found one for sale locally, and I'm picking it up today.
Man the CS2 sounded killer with the sustain maxxed out!

Why did they ever bother producing the CS-3 if CS--2 is this good?

Not much contest there - the Wampler dishes it big time.

What does a compressor do?
Can't see much difference

CS-2: Most transparent. Far superior to it's successor, the CS-3.
EgoComp: Fantastic sounding Comp, just the right amount of high end sparkle.
Stamp'O Comp: Very full sounding comp, but has a very noticeable mid-range cut. Good sounding comp, but the inferior choice of the three.
