  • This song is for everyone, guy or girl, who was ever abused... Not just by a boyfriend/girlfriend or husband/wife, it is true to all the kids who have been abused by family or bullied at school... It's for anyone who is in a bad situation and needs to get out... Just remember that it isn't always a male abuser and female victim, it can be anyone to anyone... I've known enough victims of different forms of abuse in my time, and now I wish I had sent them this song

  • @SetoKaibasEgo Absolutely, and once youve been in this situation, its so hard to not to be on the defensive side the rest of your life.....

  • @callonshana Very true... I'm glad I have never personally been abused ((only bullied a little at school a few years back)) But I have seen the effect it has on so many friends... I recently discovered a male friend of mine was being abused by his mother, and he used to be so open and happy... Now he is so closed off and worried others could do the same thing... I am also lucky enough to recognise signs of abusers to help protect myself and my friends now... Humans can be such animals

  • Blue cheese

  • This is the ultimate anthem for any woman whose ever been in an abusive relationship! For Real!

  • I'd rather die standing then live on my knees begging please! Go Shania!

  • Find your self esteem and be forever free to dream! I've been there and am so glad it's over! Perfect advice for any woman whose ever been abused ;)!

  • "Black guys,.... I don't want 'em"...what?...is Shania racist?

  • @doodoopapah BLACK EYES!

  • @doodoopapah Maybe her hair was too brown, who was the real racist here? Makes you wonder?

  • @KareBear33100 I'm a brunette who was mistreated because my hair was too black and I'm a brunette!

  • @doodoopapah BLACK EYES!!

  • @doodoopapah It's 'Black Eyes' this song is about abuse

  • 1 of her best songs

  • this helped me find the strength to leave a guy and now i have married the guy of my dreams and he treats me right thank you shania twain

  • @russeygirl1908 u go gurll xx

  • this is a song for blokes as well, i have been on the receiving end of an abusive relationship.. :(

  • @BlackNeon9 it is a fact that men can be a victim of domestic violence just as a woman can. the law seems to favor women but as im sure you know abuse knows no age, gender, orientation, or boundary. regardless of the reason no person deserves to be mistreated. i hope you find somone who treats you with dignity and respect

  • This song really helped me lower the volume of my speakers.

  • love u shania hope u sing once more ur fans miss u deeply and love this song

  • the freedom programme is for any women who wants to learn more about domestic violence and abuse ...it helps women gain self-esteem and the confidence to improve the quality of their lives. ..

  • everytime i hear this song it reminds me of how well and brave i did gettin outta the abusive relationship i was in! That i fort id never get away from bt i did it and if i can do it you can do it! If anyone out there is in anbusive relationship get out NOW he/she wont change and never will u r worth more than that no matter what he/she says everyone is entitled t happyness!!!!!! Not pain and misery!!! there is lots of help out there

  • Dear annie17211. Please try to understand that when you put words like that into print or vocalize them you are now the abuser. I am sure you will have trouble seeing it that way, but everone who reads the words is now being slapped in the face by you and it feels like a punch to just read your words.

  • Not only did this song empower me to leave my abusive ex, it inspired me to keep moving forward with every step I took. I was married to him for 18 years and had 4 kids with him. It funny because the reason I left was the same reason I stayed for so long...fear!!!

  • Shania talks the truth - I had one who beat seven shades out of me (I took him to the Police which was successful - sort of) and my daughter's father who tried to strangle me (didn't know I was pregnant at the time) and it hurt so much when she wanted to know where he was - have been totally off men ever since!

  • this song helped me be strong and gave me the courage to move out of my abusive home, for that i thank her :)

  • 4 all the women who r n an abusive relationship please get out! I've ben there, there the 1st time he put his hands on me i started rationalizing it, we were drunk he didnt mean it then he would do stuff 2 me 2 c the pain & fear n my eyes. the last straw was when he tried to kill me, please dont let it get that far and dont listen to his hallow promises of never agains. You can make it. Dont believe his words when he talks you down. once he cant manipulate you he loses his power. stay strong!!!!

  • im glad i found my strenght to get me free from my daughters father, NEVER GIVE UP! Stand upp and punch back...that what i did at last...Now im free and it was worth it, so NEVER give up....So i found many lyrics and music that gave me back my strenght and self-esteem ...I WON THE FIGHT! after 4 years thou...

  • @snowphoenixpink On Oprah she said Mutt cheated on her with her best friend which shattered her world and she grew up with her father being abusive to her mother.

  • such a positive inspiration for women the world over.. wonderfull..

  • Shania Twain is the 2nd best performer I have seen in my life, behind Michael Jackson! When she sang this song in Chicago the year the album came out you could actually feel the emotion she put into this song. Especially the last line, "Find your self-esteem and be forever free to dream!" I have finally found mine and am finally free to dream!

  • One of the all time best female singer of last 2 decades.

  • u know sometimes i hate being half canadian, but seeing as how she is, i aint gonna mind much longerXD

  • @annie17211 R u serious???

  • @annie17211 Your sick!

  • @Zhin23 your ass got beat black eyes yes yes more more.

  • @annie17211 are you serious???? if thats your mentality i hope you get into an abusive relatioship and think about what you just wrote. Fuck you

  • @annie17211 You are a sick person.

  • Any idiot who stays with a abuser is dumb ass should beat their own ass.

  • @annie17211 It is not as easy as you may think. My abuser wasn't even a spouse, boyfriend, or a parent, it was a sibling, and it is NOT easy to get rid of a sibling from your house. I have tried countless times, and only after 6 years was he court ordered to be removed from the house. All I could do was avoid home as much as possible. So watch what you say, because you apparently know nothing about abuse.

  • @annie17211 abusers are very smart, they leave the abused to feel as though it is their own fault and they deserve it. anyone that has been through it knows what i mean by this, and it is not as easy as just leaving, the abusers often times follow you or even make you think they will hurt your family if you leave and they make sure to isolate you from any and all people who love a

  • @lilsweetpea711 and care for you, there for you feel as you have no one to turn to. so please do not say that the abused are idiots, because millions of people are living proof that abuse leaves scars on lives even years after leaving it.

  • @annie17211 you clearly have no idea what the fuck your talking about, its an utter insult to any and all of the women that have been abused. in future, keep your comments to yourself unless the words you say have some meaning behind, you ignorant fucking woman.

  • I got out after 27 years and I ain't lookin back. Shame on the abusers of this world!!

I will never be their victim again....EVER!

Yes, I have played this song often to give me the strength to just walk away and become the person I was meant to be :)

  • @debdo1960 So sad that you put up with it for that long!

  • no matter what happens no woman EVER deserves to be abused, in ANY WAY EVER! May God heal everyone who has ever been thru abuse & learn that we all deserve true & kind love that doesnt abuse or hurt!

  • Come On Over is her best album <3 after that one, it must be UP!

  • Black guys i dont need em, blue cheese gives me freedom

  • When I was 12 I moved and found myself stuck in a group of abusers. Several people abused me in many ways for eight years until a young man helped me out. He is my angel and my soulmate and we are now engaged, but even though I walked away from my abusers almost two years ago I am still struggling. I don't trust people and I have nightmares almost every night. They left lasting medical problems for me to deal with. Hang in there if you are being abused and share your story! Believe in yourself!

  • @ID4370642 congrats and good for u! u go girl!

  • I was abused and im only 14. This song gave me so much confidence. I know what it feels like to have no one. After everything that has happened to me i want to help people who have to go through the same thing i did. and still do.

  • He doesn't hit me anymore but I still go to bed thinking if he will do it again in the future :(

  • @Liviermmm he prob will hun, once they do it once they WILL do it again, believe me!!! u better off without him!!! xxxxxxx good luck xxxx

  • I was going through hell for 15 years and ran away twice, but he always found me, and every time he found me it was worse then before......

But finally 3 years ago, I found a man who rescued me - I really mean rescue.

Now I am married and have the most wonderful husband in the world who treats me like a queen........

    Please never lose hope, girls

  • how can a song by so hart braking but so cechy.?

  • I was in a really ... destructive relationship for almsot two years. This song really helped me through, and gave me an excuse to finally end it. Too many tears were spent on someone who wasn't worth a minute of my time, much less 19 months of it. I've learned to wait for the good guys now :)

  • no thats right black eyes blue tears... when i was growing up i loved shania twain

  • This song is helping me deal with the abuse I have gone through and to give me the strength to fight for what is right for those who have been abused like me.

  • @lhsbonez Music can heal wounds that words cannot<3 Be Strong.

  • @zebrafreak22 Thanks.

  • @lhsbonez that is really good that you're fighting this....never give up!!!

  • @96greendaylover I am not. I still have to go testify in court against the person who abused me. I am not afraid anymore. I finally found my courage, Shania Twain's message is powerful. Plus my friends are by my side and so is God.

  • @lhsbonez Hey Hun. You will get through it. I have found someone new and he is a breath of fresh air. Mates set up but there is another life - I never thought there was. They not al bad. Chein up.

  • @lhsbonez may God heal ur heart & soul 4 the abuse u have survived. I 2 am an abuse survivor & have gone thru the journey of healing & moving on. May God bless u & all u do & bring you a wonderful spouse who will be patient with u & give u the love & comfort u need & deserve! May God give those who are still in abusive relationships the strength to leave them..

  • @lhsbonez its a hard thing to go through, i to have lived through it, and i know i wil never be the same. i to want to fight for those who are still in it , may God watch over those still in abusive relationships and give them strength and protection to leave

  • @lilsweetpea711 Yeah, ever since my experience with abuse, I strive to help others in abusive relationships. I am in college now and I am studying computer programming and web design, and in the future, I want to create a website about abuse and domestic violence. Did you know that October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month? I want to spread awareness and to give help and advice to those who are in abusive situations.

  • @lhsbonez Hey there. Glad that you are able to heal through the abuse. I pray you, your family and friends and all those suffering from abuse the best. Keep God first - Matthew 6:33 & John 3:16. Much love & God Bless!!!

  • Nothing like an abusive man makes a woman lose her self esteem. What to do gals? simply walk away they are not the centre of our universe.

  • I've loved this song ever since I was 5 years old. =)

  • black eyes ive had had a few....

  • la mejor artista country forever

  • In 2003, Twain was inducted into Canada's Walk of Fame

  • i had two abusive relationships.i am not in them now but i am happy i learned from them.and no i will never go back to that kinda life.and i rather die standing than live on my knees i have been there.and dont want it ever again.i am however still trying to find more self esteem.

  • <3<3<3 great song

  • her ex was a f***ing moron for giving up this beautiful goddess.

  • @TheNightshade42 So true. He deserves the moron of the century award!

  • @TheNightshade42 Maybe one of the biggest understatements ever! He's an idiot!!!

  • @mstennille83 thank you.

  • i know you do

  • i love you shania!!!!

  • You bet!

  • Sexiest eyes ever...

  • This is a great song and I know it gives people strength including me. She gaveth my wedding song 'From this moment' and took away with this!!!

  • one of my favourite songs . LOVELYJUBLY , I LOVE HERE

  • Played this song over and over as I was going through my divorce. Gave me strength and made me realize i didn't have to take the abuse I was receiving, even though at the time , I felt I deserved it!! Thank you for putting to words what I couldn't even admit to myself!!

  • you will get there honey, My ex still tries to control me but don't let him!

  • I think Shania Twain is one of the most beautiful women in the world, and she still is! Her beauty is amazingly perfect in all regards. It is not often that the popular singer looks THAT good

  • YOU STILL ROCK GIRL!!!

  • people if you got nothing good to say her shania!!!!!!say nothing....... this girl got talent,

  • okay.. babygirl u probably read a book about shania okay? stop saying u kno more than is! okay? like honestly ur not the ruler of us all... i hate pple like that! evy 1 hasa story behind them o.k? just cause u kno jhalf of it u dont need to post it evywhere >.>

  • dont normally like shania but thiss is a good song !

  • babygirl1709L now tell her live story?

  • im sure a lot of u probably dont know how she really got into singing and her life story.

  • Don't make comments like that, it makes it seem like you are raising yourself above others. I admit I don't know her whole story, but it isnt my business to is it?

I do know she grew up in a poor family, which would indoubtedly have led to family friction and presumably found refuge in her music.

Also I am sure she made mistakes in the past regarding love and living. But so does everyone. Anyway, don't judge people like that, it ain't cool.

    Macklan

  • I may be wrong but i think that she came to singing beause her parents died and she had to look after her younger siblings, she had to work many jobs. I think she ended up in a bar or something and someone heard her singing. As i said dont quote me but i think it was something like that. :)

  • That's good to know, it just annoyed me when that babygirl person decided to ascend themselves above everyone else, or implied it with their comment.

Oh and I agree wholeheartedly that I was wrong in my hypotheses, but the beginning of that comment still stands!

Thanks for enlightening me a bit hawk

  • Thats no problem, glad to help you out. I do understand why the comment annoyed you. Some people do just believe they know everything and no one else knows the same.

  • well you are wrong anyway

  • Comment removed

  • hahaha i do .. so dont even think nobody else does

  • ummm. it's black EYES ...

  • lol

  • LMFAO!!

  • @dragknuckle Wow. No its def black EYES.

  • @dragknuckle wow

  • i love her! she's fab!!!!

  • i was just kidding haha.. i'd be a bit of a borat if i was telling the truth

  • ...well... i don't know if this is true or not, but you really shouldn't have stabbed her... you should of just left.

  • LMFAOOO!!! ahhaahhahah!

  • it helps me feel like im not alone and happy when i read about other women who got out of violent relationships. i think even just typing out your story can help you feel better! i lived in denial for a long time. i told myself i wasn't really being abused. it wasn't until i saw he was a threat to my son that i realized it and left.. im still coming to terms with it! everytime i write it out it helps me realize it wasn't my fault, and what he did was wrong.

  • that's exactly right! im glad you were able to get out. God bless.

  • tbh ur xcatly rite! if u tlk bout ur probs then u'll be alot better! espically if sumone can help u! hehe

    x

  • @secretdestiny u go lady!!! Props to you!!!!

  • BTW ! Oh..... that comment I just posted was for brightwellamy ......

  • Hey you dick that says no get in that situation - you doh't know 'til you get in it and it bloody hard to get out- especially if you married or got kids - well done to all you gals that have!!! I did it but took me a while and I was one of those non believers before it happened to me!

  • i reckon your DUMB to get into a situation like that and idk y it takes so long to get away ppl think its so hard but all it takes is will power and if you dont want to then you know what the consequences is.... but it makes em furious knowing that men are hitting women

  • have you ever been in a situation like these woman(and men) have been in? you've felt their pain? the heartbreak? don't judge someone until you've been through what they've been dealing with.

  • You clearly are an ignorant b'tard. U never know til u in that situation.

  • there wasn't any need for that... maybe they're trying to let other people that they got out, so they can do? please get off your high horse..

  • People share their experiences for a reason .... to make others see... that there is HOPE !!!! It has nothing to do with attention seeking ...... so how about you get over your "holier then thou attitude"... and buy yourself a soul O_o

  • Been down this road (long time ago) ...I found the strength to walk away ... If I hadn't .... I wouldn't be alive today ....

  • i'm glad you did. :) God bless.

  • Now I need guidance on how to help someone who hasn't left ... and refuses to walk away & let go of an abusive partner 0_0

  • try to understand the way they're feeling... theres a sense of loyalty that is really hard to get away from. there's also... mental repression, for lack of a better term. if your told time and time again that that person is doing things for your own good and that you're horrible etc, that person has a hold on you. just be patient

  • Good on ya. I the same. Now he doing same to someone else - she been there before with him and she took him back - some folk live on the wire. Good for u.

  • This song gave me the strength to get out of an abusive relationship 12 years ago. It gives me strength to this day. I believe that any woman who lives with any kind of abuse should be given a copy of this song!!!!

  • i'm so glad you were able to get out of that mess! I'm also glad that shania was such an inspritaion. :)

  • I LOVE THIS SONG...SHE MEANS WELL!!!!

  • I came looking for a copy of this song to give to members of a Domestic Abuse Support Network, and was interested to read all of your comments.

Shania wrote this song to give women strength to get out. If ppl talk about it on this medium, and one woman says no more, then the message is getting across. That is what Shania intended the song to do, in concert, or on youtube!

  • thank you for working for such a good cause. and you are 100% right.

  • I watched my mum get abused by her boyfriend at the time for 3 years

    i was quiet disturbed

i have only got over my fear of males

raising their voices or fightin with any1

  • well done girls 2 all u others who got out.

  • This is an up yours to my ex hubbie - luv it!!! and on of hers was first dance song - from this moment on-not!!!

  • i'm sorry. that's really ironic):

  • I got out... IM SO HAPPY!!!

  • good job!

  • my ex choked me. and threatened me.I went through a lot of mental and emotional abuse, very few bruises though so for the longest time i didnt think it was abuse. My current bf realized this, asked me to get out of the relationship. My ex finally got out of my life when he threatened to push me off the second floor balcony at school and was caught with a knife on him. he got expelled. Now me and my current have been together a year and three months and im completely happy.

  • i am so sorry that you've been through that kind of torture. i'm glad that you got out.

  • thanks for vote of confidence - I believe in Karma so here's hoping!!

  • If Karma isa legitimate concept, then do suffering people actually deserve it? If we help them are we merely prolonging their Karmic debt?

  • i was abused mentally, and physically by my ex and got away in jan of this year 2009 i got a restraining order on him and im the happiest ive been in years

  • I am really pleased that you managed to find the strength to make the break. This song now takes on a different meaning for me. To hear that you are happy brings a tear to my eye - God bless PKC

  • i'm glad that you got away. God bless.

  • hello i am e a abusssed woman and i have the guts .on 14 feb 2007 my son and i escapte

every day we fight.,we are happy now

  • i'm glad you were able to pull through(:

  • Comment removed

  • I feel sooo sorry 4 vampiregirl897 and leckiebaby......i dnt know wat u feel like but i sympathise 4 u anyway.....nobody deserves 2 be abused.....its jst men tryin 2 feel superior....but they choose a wile bad method 2 use

  • it's not just men who abuse the other partner, but in the media it is generally the image they give. i can't say i've ever been abused in this way, but my little brother has been, and we got him through it ... it's an empowering song, sung brilliantly, and makes you want to listen to her at 5:16 in the morning ... oh wait i am xD

  • Never thought about blokes getting it but my sympathies lie with him. Good on him-same as men-she won't change. Get out big time best of luck.
