My Dear Friend and Senior on the Sitar - in my humble opinion - has the most under rated "gayaki" style playing in the world right now. Profoundly sincere in his approach, he is a wonderful musician.
I took a lesson from him Thursday and it was great! Such a great person with a good attitude and inviting approach to teaching. I am going to see him again tomorrow and hopefully catch a fusion group that he plays with tomorrow night. I suggest to anyone that plays sitar and sees his is coming to your town to contact him about possible lessons.
I just had chance to meet Indrajit'ji in Seattle at Traveler's cafe and books, where he inspired me to practice harder with his dedicated and passionate performance with Kuntal Roy. I wanted to geek out with him about sitar but felt fairly out of words. Oh well, maybe next year.

Excellent imagination like another rasika commented earlier.
Brings out v. unique prastharas of the raga.
Simply by skipping certain swaras, he brings out previously unheard sancharas. This is a technique that GNB pioneered in Carnatic music.
