@SirEliiwood Ist ein ganz normaler Zauber, der bei Nocturn dabei ist. Wenn du den Spezialeffekt mit den Shadow Zeros meinst: immer und immer wieder zaubern und irgendwann hast du dann Glück.

Do I really have to max all to lvl 7 to get lv 8 or just one magic? Cuase it's takeing forever to lvl up my fire. Maybe the last lv is longer to advance...

@SuperHushPuppy For each spirit you need at least level 8 for the special spell effect to occur. At level 8 you need to cast two spells for an increase of 1 point iirc, so you should see something. The higher the second number, the higher the probability of getting the special spell effect (Shadow Zeros are exempt from this rule). You should make sure that you can level up to level 8. IIRC you have to come to the point where you can enter the mana fortress.

i cant figure this game out, at first i thought it had chrono trigger style combat,,, then at another video it looked more like zelda style combat.

Sag mal, ich habe das spiel jezz schon jahre lang gezockt, aber den einen Schattenzauber (den vierten) kann ich nicht benutzen... Muss ich erst alle Zauber auf Lv 8 haben? =_=

@greatandcool Du meinst diesen Zauber, bei dem so viele kleine Viecher über den Bildschirm laufen? Falls ja: das ist Höllenaura und ein ultraselten auftretender Effekt. Ich habe das Video letztendlich nur gemacht, weil es diesen Effekt noch nicht auf Video dokumentiert gab.

I got Shadow Zero in Treasure Chest AND in Evil Gate.

I was a lucky person,because I've never seen them again.

Btw. Dark Force is so badass on Lv. 8 xD

Are there only 8 level-upd of the magic spells?

@AyakoEmerald No, I remember at least one upgrade after the initial level 0 spell effect, I think at level 4. But these effects weren't special at all: The game didn't stop for the animation and the only thing which changed was the size of the particles. And they appear always if you reach a certain level, while the special spell effects occur randomly (more frequently the nearer you are to 8:99 actually).

@Isurandil There's a few that change a little more freqently too. Like Airblast changes from sharts, to disks, to huge blades. I think Exploder changed from small clouds to larger ones to two sets of larger particle clouds. I think Lightning Bolt changes 3 times too. I dont remember. I'm playinig it though again.

I remember on the SNES when I got those special effects on the spells, I was like WTF. Then I realized, everytime it happened, you couldn't move. I think my first one was with Shadow's Magic... Dark Force it's called? Don't remember (not evil gate). That awkward explosion in the end scrared me, thought I was glitched. I never got Shadow Zero to work, always got the treasure chest though :-/ .. (spell doesnt seem that impressive anyhow..)

Well, it's Evil Gate after all. Shade has to compensate for that sucky spell (see the vid, couldn't even kill that one easy wasp-thing) with Dark Force and the Shadow Zeros ;)

@Isurandil Evil Gates isn't a sucky spell. It's a very focused spell and needs to be used against monsters that have extremely high defense and are hard to hit with physical weapons. It's also a spell that's more effective in the middle of the game, not necessarily towards the end where strength and other spells become so powerful that it doesn't even matter anymore.

@Reaper87xx Try La FUnk in Ice Country, Doom Sword in the Tree Palace, Fiend Head in the Mana Fortress, Metal Crab in the Fortress, Nitro Pumpkin in the Cave of Courage, Terminator in the Mana Fortress, and Whimper in the Fortress. Just that I can remember. Let me know how it goes!

@Reaper87xx Only tried Metal Crab by now: Damage of Shade at 8:99 with Evil Gate on Metal Crab: 266, 266, 266, 266, 177 mean: 248 empirical standard deviation: 40 (16 %) Note: Value 177 was the non-special version of the spell. Damage of Shade at 8:99 with Dark Force on Metal Crab: 774, 738, 785, 692, 822 mean: 762 empirical standard deviation: 49 (6 %) Note: The damage always was sufficient to kill the enemy.

@Isurandil Yeah, it is extremely focused. I think Evil gate worked absolute wonders on one of the Blob bosses too (doni't remember the name) but then again, Dark Force is easily one of the most indespensible spells in the game too. Beast is hardly a fair term for its gloriousness.

WOW Really Great to see Shadow Zeros spell being cast, I did it once myself years and years ago maybe 95, a long time ago and have never seen it since. I didn't know how i did it then and no one saw it but me so no one believed me. just bought SOM on the virtual console on the Wii and am loving it, What a great game. i'm gonna be on it trying to do that spell again now i know i wasn't me being crazy.

My question is... how do you activate that spell? It seems to be random :/

Well, cast evil gate over and over again. I still have the freeze file for it, if you want it (remember: German version of SOM). You need to wait about half a second, then activate the spell to see it. It took me some hours to get this effect (and to have a freeze file just before casting ;X).
