True communist were Native Americans. They took care of the entire tribe: food, clothing, shelter, etc.. Still the best hunter got the best horse, the best warrior had the best weapons. Not everyone was equal especially compared to the chief, wife or his entire family for that matter. Then you had spiritual leaders, healers, etc. that were above the common tribesmen.
