  • I'm not a big Hall & Oates fan, but I thoroughly enjoy this.

  • Great song!

  • One of Phillys Best....

  • Probably a little unknown masterpiece in Hall and Oates's songs.

  • Nice song, remind me one nice party and one sexi girrrl!!! He,he,he!!!

  • Their best video by far, I think. Nice to see one that's not silly.

  • Funny that the songs with John Oates on lead vocal didn't chart that high. He and Daryl hit #30 in Billboard, 7-6-85. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • la mejor cancion de todas n.n

  • oh my GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!! i still remember, use to go in my backyard with the my small walkman and headphones on my head and this song playing non stop. 23 years on, still enjoy this song now that i can really understand the lyrics...........loved it

  • this song makes a really good point. sometimes you can want something too much. its best to keep those feelings in check.

  • SMH!!!! But in a good way, people! John, John, John! His voice to this very day (2011, mind you), is incredible!

  • la mejro cancion que eh escuchado n.n

  • Lot of talent bands like this one from the last few decade

  • At least can see at John singing some. Always Daryll but this time.... al fin veo a John cantando alguna cancion; siempre era Daryll y John haciendo el coro. al menos asi lo veo en este video.. Saludos a todos desde Cali Colombia

  • John sounds like Smokey on this track. :)

  • @davettalashley - OMG!! why everytime i wonder who does he remind me of , lol???? and it is definitely smokey robinson. now i can sleep a night, thanks, hahaha.

  • @quietstormstorm You're welcome. Get some sleep. LOL! ;)

  • Great duo, both extroadinary motown sounding voices.

  • always loved hall & oates...love john's voice, so it's always a treat when he gets to sing lead :o)

  • 3:10 John knocks it out of the park with that high note. Many children were conceived at that part of the song.

  • one of Hall & Oates best...brings back memories! :)

  • 2:35 Oates steps out of that cab like a boss

  • No me canso de escucharla, Esta bien chida, n.n

  • Beautiful...I like this song. John Oates has a sweet voice!

  • John Oates looks so cool especially with his hair.

  • i always liked this one

  • Hall and Oates - what a prolific duo. They had a lot of great songs, but this was my favorite. Thank you for this post.

  • I like it when John gets out of the cab to sing with the rest of the guys. He's so short he can't see over the top of the cab...LOL!!!

  • great song; sure is good to see this video again, thanks!

  • Delightful song.

  • The only disappointment in seeing them live is that John only sings lead on two or three songs and while Daryl is a great singer, and I know he sang lead on a lot of their hits, I think John should, as some others have pointe out here, have more than just those two or three songs and he did sing lead on a lot the stuff on the albums, even if a lot them weren't singles.

  • Its nice to see Oates in the spotlight for once... this music is timeless

  • Hall and Oates - one great duo. I loved all their songs, but this was probably my favorite. Thank you for this post.

  • I laughed out loud when I read the mistake made by cecilfeaster hahahah! john hall? in which planet have you lived all this time? anyway, one of my favourite videos of them... looove this song so much :D

  • Man, the dynamics on this song are so out of this world.

  • Some freaks in that cab. One of them don't tell on me cabs, secrets, LOL. Anyway, great song writing as always.

  • I love this jam. should have done more of them this way too. love it.

  • me acordé de mi juventud, bonito video, saluds.

  • 0:38 YOU'RE IN THE PORN CAB! It's an adult movie that takes place right here in my taxi!

So whadya say? Am I in?

  • very cool song, but not popular, :(

  • Rare Hall & Oates hit with Oates signing the lead. It's certainly a change of pace.

  • john hall reminds me of a white prince

  • @cecilfeaster you mean John Oates?

  • Yes, it is you can also see them at 3:15 as Daryl and John are walking out the coffee shop past the small tree between the two of them in the background......... Here's a little tid bit for you in most of their N Y C video the twin towers are in them here's one of them Say It Isn't So @ 5:05-5:08 which is the ending scence but it's a nighttime shot hopes this helps

  • is that the twin towers at about 357 in the background?

  • @camoman270 yes...

  • @camoman270 Yes it is..this video preceded 9/11 by about 15 years

  • I am crazy about this song. As much as I love Daryl, I wish John had done more lead vocals. I greatly prefer John's lead vocal on "Jingle Bell Rock," too.

  • the music, the style bring me back to the 80s straight away.

  • Twin towers 3:58 :(

  • Horder song!

  • Comment removed

  • @TheLizardKing1967 what the fuck has Obama got to do with todays bad music? it's fucked up how you can wave a confederate battle flag and like Hall of Oates at the same time.

  • @mavishill What the FUCK does a Conderate flag and Hall and Oates have to do with the New World Order. Blame your Obama baby NWO puppet not a Rebel flag, Daryl Hall and John Oates you FOOL. LMAO

  • By the way, check John singing this in Tokyo. Fierce performance. He is off the

    hook. 1988

  • Sexy, Sexy John sings his ass off. Love their suits and moves. Love seeing the

    twin towers.

They loved shooting in New York.T

  • Another oldie, BUT a Great one!

  • i love the diner bit where they fight over the sugar

  • This is the definition of cool. Really puts all other videos to shame! :D

  • Great song, great video. John sounds great on the lead and the band sounds great crooning in the background. I love the version of this song where as it fades out the music dies out first and for a moment you just hear their voices singing.

  • buena cancion

  • soothing and kick-ass song!!!

  • One of my favorite Hall & Oates videos--cool, sharp and with a touch of humor. I love John's vocal on this one.

  • @smiddlecn I agree! Not nearly enough of their stuff featured him.

  • John, your lead vocal was great! You should do lead vocal more often.Don't be shy; we'll support you;We believe in you.

  • One of my favorite duos of all time.

  • wow. that's some hate going on there. massive death doesn't make me glad about anything :(

  • I just dont even know what to say about this. I LOVE IT SO MUCH. My fave h&o song, love John, would like him tattoo an autograph on me. His talent and music has helped me through so much. The best ever here

  • @mrpittsburghpi I hate to correct you, but a group or artist is eligible after 25 years of their first release, not 25 years after their last release. So Hall & Oates are definitely eligible. If the other were true groups like Steely Dan and U2 wouldn't be in there.

  • aw I always get sad when I catch a NYC shot of the twin towers :`(

  • @999feline those same twin towers were raping millions of americans, stockholm syndrome u got man, thank god those fucking towers are gone!!! dont care who did it but theyre down!

  • :50 That's how you became bankrupt John..lol

  • All emcompassing Hall & Oates!

  • The mustache wins at life.

  • Does anyone know if this was released as a single in the UK.

  • I remember when this song and video first came out. It was such a nice surprise to see John Oates step out front and take the lead vocal. Great song, great duo!

  • I wonder if George Michael looked at this video and went.. "Hmmmm.." thinking of a video concept for Father Figure.

  • This is the first time I have seen John in the lead role. It's normally Daryl doing all the singing.

  • Great song and visually entertaining video. Showcases Oates' stellar singing ability.

  • He kinda does look like a creepy taxi driver in this.

  • No one can wear a mustache like John Oats, it was his trade mark sort of I wish he would have kept it on.

  • John was looking mighty fine in this video...

  • que tema.................de culto,80s

  • Why wasn't this released as a single in the UK ???????

John you kick ass. As for the the remixes....... Get stuffed, this is you at your best.

I would love to shake your hand.

  • Thanks for uploading this classic!!!!!!!

  • The Federal courts have now allowed Gays to fight and die for their country. Discrimination is against the law in the U.S. Too bad laws can't change hatred, bigotry, and obsession with material things. I am not gay, but those I've known have all seemed like nice people. Only god can judge.

  • 13 suck it good

  • These guys can sing.

  • God, the reverse effect keys on this song just do it for me.

  • I remember this appeared on Friday Night Videos. Man I miss those days when you stay up on the weekend to see your favorite music videos.

  • DAMN I MISS THE THE 80'S!!!

  • super smooth vocals

  • I wish to cry everytime I hear this.AMAZING!

  • These guys made hit song after hit song. This is one of their few videos that is actually good. Most of their videos are garbage. They are the only doo wop group in the world who could make New Wave music.

  • As you all know Daryl's 63rd birthday is coming up October 11th with his FINE self he can quench my thirst anytime a tall glass of lemonade is what he is...................... when you paused it at 3:42 the man is HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!! whoever put that oufit together for this video HOOKED him up!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Kippy8085 I mean Daryl will be 64 on his up coming birthday

  • As you all know Daryl's 63rd birthday is coming up October 11th with his FINE self he can quench my thirst anytime a tall glass of lemonade is what he is......................

  • Love the mullets and the top gun jacket

  • @jjvoodoo There are NO mullets in this video, dude. Obviosly you don't know what a mullet looks like.

  • @LT1HILLINGHOE Okay. Thank s for that waste of time comment. Dude!

  • @jjvoodoo LOL...just cause you don't know what ur talking about is no reason to try and minimize someone else's comment. Your first comment was the ultimate waste of time since u don't know what ur talking about. DUDE!!!!

  • @LT1HILLINGHOE Really...Okay bro.

  • @jjvoodoo Yeah....really.

  • @LT1HILLINGHOE YEAH?

  • @jjvoodoo Bitch shut up. hahaha....

  • Love the mullets

  • John caught that sugar like a G!

  • Daryl has always had an inimitable voice, husky, soulful, raspy. As much as I love Hall's voice, I like Oates' too; he's got a knack for some smooth, sexy vocals.

If you really wanna hear Oates open that golden throat of his, check out "How Does It Feel To Be Back" from their 1980 record "Voices". Class song, and very underrated, as are this duo.

  • R.I.P who lost love ones on 9/11/01 nyc

  • Cool song. I hate gooks and crackas.

  • @NewKokujinOptions Why limit your hate? The human race in general is not worth saving.

  • @TwilightBinder You're right. I hate all humans.

I am not human, I am Black.

  • @NewKokujinOptions Quite true. You aren't.

  • Possibly The greatest song ever..and you know what I mean.

  • into The Oatesmobile.

I Loved Big Bam Boom then and love it today.

  • westcoast, fk da rest, 2pac RIP

  • no se lo que dice, pero me gusta la musica 80 y 70, gracias a mi padre.....

  • I Love This Daryl Hall And John Oates 1985 Music Video, "Possession Obsession," Which Became A Top 10 Hit In America.

  • i'm feeling this!

  • I GOT TURNED ONTO HALL AND OATES MUSIC LIKE I WAS TURNED ONTO DOPE IT WAS A REAL MUSICAL AWAKENING FOR ME LOVED IT , AN ERA THAT I REALLY MISS

  • Both these guys can sing. Their harmonies are great. This is real music.

  • First time hearing this song I thought John oates didn't do much singing..? I like this beat... H&O where the Shi#t

  • really amazing.. this is awesome.. hall and oates is/are the best forever baby..

  • hall and oats is the best

  • excellent melody!!!!

  • Oates should have done way more lead vocals on their hits.

  • sold more songs than any duo in the history of rock and never nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame!

  • Really dig Daryls moves in this video.

  • excellent tune

  • God, I really wish I was an 80s child, or 70s... or 60s, it seems like every decade other than the noughties has had brilliant music, and the good modern music is completely drowned by the regurgitated crap that Lady Gaga and the like are putting out. Thank god my mum was always playing Hall and Oates, Robert Palmer and Marvin Gaye when I was growing up.

  • So smooth. Don't understand why this song didn't make No. 1.

  • very "motown"

  • never liked this song. Sounds great today :)

  • Hands down, their best song!! I can't help but to find myself everytime, dancing when I hear this song! Music like this will always be UNTOUCHABLE!!!!

  • One of my faves from H&O...why oh why are they not in the R&R Hall of Fame???

  • @JLee1121 fuck the rock n roll hall of fame. some of the bands that are in there shouldnt even be in there.

  • @JLee1121 The reason H&O aren't in the R&R HOF is because you have to wait 25 years after their last work/song before they can be up for nonmination. I know it's kind of takcy to have to wait 25 yrs. but unfortunately I don't make the rules. Believe me if I did, they would have already be voted in.

  • @JLee1121 It blows my mind that they are not in the Hall of Fame. These guys had some hits in the 70s and 80s.

  • why did hall and oats ever break up...

  • Don't fret they didn't break up they are still together and on tour but working on different projects like Daryl is remodeling a house he just bought and John is doing back up for other bands from time to time recently John was on Live from Daryl's house. They did Possession Obsession and funny thing Daryl did lead vocals Haven't seen the show yet I hear its pretty good, and another thing John also has a young son I believe he's 6 or seven so he has to be a Dad now all in all they haven't split

  • @xxblksabbathxx I post a response to your statement some while back, check it out!

  • Dave W....your absolutely right. John should have song a lot more. They both could have great voices. I'm from Motown, but Philadelphia has run neck to neck with Detroit as far as great entertainers and singers is concerned. This is one of my favorite songs.

  • oates has a great voice and i understand why you guys think he should of sang more... but have you heard freakin daryl hall?!?!?!

  • Hall and Oates, they are just awesome! I love this song - the beat and vocal is just sexy ...WTC at 3:58 ;-( aaah those were the days - I miss the the 80's era, back then music were just smooth and uncomplicated!

  • Hit #8 AC, #30 pop, #69 soul in Billboard. John should've been on lead vocals more often, right, gang? God bless!

  • its a song that has a real real sexxy beat to dance for your girl and i mean your lover

  • Hall & Oates were awesome! I wish they'd come back, what happened to good ol music like this? Thx for postin!

  • MAN! John Oates could sing too!! From their break-thru album "Big Bam Boom"(1984). Daryl should have let him sing more often!!

  • When you get the time machine up and running don't forget to give me a call.

  • Loved it then, love it now! I've got the biggest smile on my face.

  • John Oates should have sang more.

  • here in Rio de Janeiro heard every day before going to school! I miss those days!!

  • Gimme Some.

  • The rare John on lead vocals really worked for this song and Daryl was very generous with not taking any limelight away , his subdued backing vocs make this hit a standout favorite of their reportoire.

  • love it!!!!!!

  • talk about a lost video! i don't even remember this one. pretty cool to watch it to see what i missed back then.

  • One of the best songs of Hall and Oates..Love this group!!
