well, annette is a good singer, but she just CAN'T sing Sleeping Sun. when you hear Tarja sing that song, you close your eyes and dream...her voice makes you dream. when annette sings it, you open your eyes, because the dream is over.

Anette's voice is not pop oriented but I definitely agree with leaving some of the old material alone Tarja's version of this song is just too iconic and it does not sit well in her register. Not to mention that you do need classical training for some of those phrases they are very difficult.

This was interesting.. the first song I've heard which was originally sung by Tarja. I don't go into the whole debate on who's better because I think they are both unique singers and I like them equally but I have to say that from all the live performance recordings I've heard this was the best song I've heard anette sing.. she suits the slower song and I felt she put a lot into this, I'd be very happy if they did this one when I go see them next year!

I think the version Tarja sings has a more profound effect, but that's my personal opinion. I prefer Anette on the DPP songs though, and I know it wouldn't be the same if Tarja were to sing them. I like them both; Tarja was beautiful and magical in the songs she sang and Anette is sweet and calming in the songs she sings. The songs they both sing wouldn't be the same if the other did. All it matters in the end is that it's Nightwish.

She's improved since this. If I recall right this was towards the beginning of the tour and Anette was not given alot of time to rehearse since they pretty much went on tour right as soon as they revealed her as the vocalist.

There's also the poor recording where the bass dorwns her out so it's not really fair to judge her on this.
