  • Gotta love the epic music.

  • beautiful

  • ok who let jockies in the outer banks!

  • So much for allowing the horses to live in a pristine environment.

How many beer bottles were thrown at the horses? How many bags of potato chips were fed to them?

  • I pray for the outer banks with Irene headed that way!

  • im going in a couple days!!!!!!!! Im so excited!!!!!!!!!! I stay at Corolla Light in the Southern star k227 look it up best house on the island

  • well if you are driving by and one of the horses starts coming close to you car then i wouldnt want to drive too fast by it and startle the poor thing. what do you want him to do go in reverse and make a 50 ft circle around the moving animal?

  • This is a nice video - I like the music (I don't think it's too dramatic, just the perfect amount). I've been on this ride before, and it was one of the most fun times in my life!

  • it is a 500 dollar fine to feed a horse or get within 50 feed of a horse!

  • @gfaz1o Ah, but what if the horse comes to you? Or is close to your path and you can't not be within 50 feet of them?

  • i was just on this road on thursday! (3 days ago)

  • thumbs up if you think this is queer!

  • What a beautiful video...we have been lucky that every time we go to the OBX to our beach house we have seen the horses...this was just like reliving seeing them all over again!

  • what you did at 1:10 is highly illegal

  • @Cvj118 I agree. you should have just watched them from afar and let them in peace. there is way too much human interaction with these creatures as it is due to the never-ending development. Some protection NC offers these things. So sad.

  • @Cvj118 your momma is illegal

  • GAY

  • Very lucky person to have seen such beautiful animals! Wonderful video! :)

  • The Dare Island Enigma is a novel about two boys who fing something strange on an outer bank's beach see video book trailer

  • Very nice video, thank you for sharing !

  • Well done! The Irish-esque music soundtrack fit perfectly with the rugged beauty of the horses.

  • Nice video, going to Corolla for the first time tomorrow, cannot wait! These horses remind me of the ones in Delmarva, near the Va./Md. state lines right on the beaches!

  • ABSOLUTLY LOVE THIS VIDEO!!!!!!!!!! THEY R SOOOOOOOOO BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!! i am going to corolla Friday and i hope i see some wild horses!!!!!!!! LOVE THE MUSIC!!!!

  • yeah I agree, the music needs to go, but other than that, great video

  • I alway loved our coast. If you haven't seen Shackleford "ponies" Horses please see those too. Our coast line is beautiful & I take a lot of landscape photos.I don't want to see any of them destroyed, just beause of the overcrowding.

We need to keep Our Heritage alive!

Even Goat Island which is further down in the Waterway.

    Loved your video!

    Betsy

  • watch?v=3hknnbTzdoc&feature=sub

  • These horses were bred and released some-odd 50 years ago. they kill off 500 of them yearly to keep population down...you guys are extremely stupid to think these are the true "wild mustangs" thse horses were domesticated and released...the 500 year thing is complete bullcrap that they sale to tourist.

  • Wow the horses in this video are really 500 years old!!!!!! They have to be the oldest living things on earth.

  • Your not supposed to go within 50 feet of the horses by law.

  • Beautiful!

  • Never have I been more proud to live in Eastern North Carolina with mountains on one side and ocean on the other God Bless North Carolina

  • sikk place ta hav sex

  • @khanny110 lol

  • This is so beautiful! Music totally makes it! I love how they're so happy because they're in the wild. This is how it should be, for all animals <3

  • @bethybabes08 amen

  • wild sea oats grow on the dunes. the seaoats are a protected plant species. i have seen signs stating this.good thing the horses cant read. i dont know where they get fresh water. i pla n trip to obx this fall will go see horses great video thanks

  • Corolla My favorite place on earth Pirates & beaches & horses Yes

  • is it possible to rent a four wheeler?

  • @tmartin3 YES! There are many places in Corolla and the surrounding area. We went with Wild Horses Adventure Tours (WHAT). They were very reasonably priced for a 2-hour guided drive.

  • AWESOME! XD! IM GOING TO COROLLA TOMARROW! I CAN'T WAIT! AND THE HORSES ARE A MUST-SEE!

  • The point where you actually saw the horses, you're in Virginia.

  • @BobPokosy what are you talking about? this is in NC, not Virginia..

  • @junx1488 ur rite cuz they wud hav had 2 go thru the second horse fence up the beach 2 be in virgina

  • I live in the OBX. It's a great place to live. Come and visit you will have a great time.

  • music is little dramatized lol

  • if they are wild what do they eat or who feeds them? horses eat a lot

  • @wilhelm1974 Dream waffers.

  • @wilhelm1974 ....I live in NC. The wild horses are really there. I see them eat the grass like horses in pastures do. The horses swam to shore in the 1500s and 1600s from the English, Spanish, and Portugese ships which wrecked there. The Outer Banks are called "The Graveyard of the Atlantic" because of all the shipwrecks. Debris from the wrecks still washes onto the shore sometimes after a hurricane.

  • I love living out there!!!

  • great video really great thank you

  • yes Amazing is my first reaction :)

  • OMG!!im going to Outerbanks this Summer!!!i cant wait!!is it fun?!?!?!?!

  • @ydontyoudosomethin It is amazing and unique. The outer banks is like no other place I've ever been. We stay in Avon when we go. It is peaceful and chill. Not for the "party crowd" It's all about the beach and nature (obviously, =) ) Surfing, kayaking and fishing. SOOOOOOOOO RELAXING!!!!!!!!

  • @stairwaytoheaven22 dnf stunt kite flying.

  • @ydontyoudosomethin ...........my family just returned from there.........was pretty quite and cool, which we liked. Along with the horses you'll find plenty of conch shells early morning

  • were is the grass that they eat

  • im going there in a couple of weeks, where exactly was this?

  • Look for a place called Coralla- kor-rahl'-la, if you need to ask some one when you get to the banks.

  • I wanna visit it someday. Nothing is more beautiful than see wild horses run free. This must be REAL freedom...

  • Great video -- we are going to obx in March and a horse tour is for sure part of our planning.

  • Are you serious?? Those horses have been there for possibly 500 years!! Longer than we have been a nation on this continent.

  • @ladylynnea Really?

  • Corolla Beach is a beautiful place. Went there this past summer for the 4th of July and had a blast. I didn't see any horses though. Loved it!

  • It is sometimes difficult finding horses like that on the beach. It's much easier if you go to Corova. But Corova is hard to find if you don't know where you are going.

  • Wow, until now, I did not know we had wild horses in North Carolina. I love the fact that I was born and raised North Carolinean.

  • I plan on going for the wild horses. Is Oct. off season? where is a nice local place to stay?

  • This is why i live here.

  • I'm excited about going down there. I know we will have a blast.

  • Amazing footage! I know exactly where this spot is north of Corolla and Whalehead... I have driven along this beach about 10 years ago with neices and nephews. They are all "older now", but they still remember this area too!

  • We stay in Kitty Hawk on our vacation but we always drive to Corolla to see the horses and drive on the beach. We make it a day of it. Pack up some lunch, grab the beach chairs and blankets and we are set. The first time we drove on the beach with my rav4, it got stuck. Hit a soft spot and it acted like a shovel. My father in law had to dig us out and tow us a little. It is 4 wheel drive but I guess they can get a little stuck. The next year we were a little wiser on where we drove.

  • Baby doll blonde

    fastloverfun...dot...com

  • one of the best things about OBX.

  • Thanks for the lovely trip up the beach! We love the OBX so much, we relocated from Vermont <3 PCLVNJY!

  • at 1:46, i think i was there!

  • good video. i saw some really nice pics of wild horses on the beach on ebay. not sure who was selling them just beautiful pics

  • does anyone know the name of this song?

  • SOUNDS LIKE A MOVIE THEME SONG.

  • Oh see I why love calling NC Home! Born and raised and I just wish you people would stop driving on our beaches and killing the precious ecosystem with the smug from your SUVs!

  • ^ ^ ^ I see another sheep that has ate from the hand of misinformation.

You people are unreal. Whatever damage that happens to a beach due to driving on them is erased every 12 hours due to the tide cycle.

    Good try though.

    Oh, great vid too.

  • hey thats were am going t crolla but i am staying in buck island and we drove on the beach to but now i think its closed i am going on the august 7 outer banks nc in buck island untill the 17 comet back soon but i am leaveing for simth mountain lake today and coming back tuesday night and packing all day wensday it then leaving on thursday it will be so fun and awesome!!!!!

  • that's so awesome!

  • The horses will drink the brackish water, a mix of fresh and salt water. I guess after 400 years of so they have adapted. Don't take your nice new vehicle on the beach yourself, I see soooo many bits of plastic trim lining the beach and at least 8 vehicles stuck on the beach at one time. With only one tow guy here called Larry prices can be VERY high to get a tow.

  • The horse are usually not actually on the beach itself but behind the dunes. During the summer they are pretty easy to find if you know where they hangout but in the off-season they are much harder to find as they tend to go back more towards the Sound. I highly suggest going with a professionally driven tour such as Wild Horse Adventure Tours, they have a money back guarantee to find the horses for you and really make it a lot of fun.

  • They were on the beach splashing in the ocean each year I go and see them...Yes some are behind the dunes but not all.

  • I took a tour of Corolla in March but we didn't see any horses

  • Where do the wild horses get fresh water to drink? What do they do when there is a hurricane?

  • They drink the water soundside, its about 75% fresh

  • Absolutely love it! North Carolina is calling me!

  • awesome I live in nc!!!!!!!!!!

  • Awesome! I am headed back to Corolla in a couple of days. My best friend Kim and I discovered this place and the wild horses about 10 years ago, along with our kids and husbands.
