So we have to thank Freddie's mother for giving birth to 'Farook' and thank Tim Staffell for self confessed "stepping a side" and giving us Queen -Wow!
thanks for sharing this documentary on freddie;s life. Freddie was born to be a star , nothing less ! .......with or without Queen , Freddie was so too talented.
"I didn't have it in me to do what Freddie did." "I was never a showman... I really wasn't the writer that Freddie was." Tim Staffel seems like a very humble and cool guy who knows and admits that he couldn't have done what Freddie did. He knows Queen/Smile would never have achieved what they did had he remained in the band. I dunno why some are bashing him, he seems very humble and honest about things. And I would also thank him for moving aside and giving Freddie his chance to shine. :)
Tim Staffel is very cool. Not many men I know would be so calm and laid back in view of the largesse that was "Queen". But good for him-he is straight up and honest. Supportive and kind. What a cool cat.
this documentary is really impacting, before i saw this i was very upset about his death but now im just really grateful that i got to see and be able to admire such a talenteed man.looking at tim im really appreciative that he stepped aside and letting freddie do his thing thus inspire millions
I saw Queen in Feb 1976 at Dane County Coliseum.....Totally mesmerizing...It was at the time Bohemian Rhapsody was the shit. 2 Hours of pure energy. As great as Freddie was at commanding the stage, Deacon, Taylor and May proved that they belonged together int his band. Sheer Heart Attack-one of the most underrated Rock Albums of Alll Time
it's bad that all viewers discuss Freddie's sexual life, or just leave comments like "wow Queen is the best band ever!!! etc." this part of untold story is really cool- i like it most, because we can see his sketches, hear his early tapes. that's really unbelievable how uncertain and constrained his voice is. like he was NOT SURE that he's a real star, a real (best) singer!
You can tell Tim is a bit full of himself by the way he words things. Like saying "if I hadn't moved out of the way, the world would be a different place" emphasizing himself over Freddie. Just something I noticed.
Nice documentary, I was really in the mood for something like this!
Eh? Why? I meant that Freddie's sister comes across to me as a sweet person. If you're placing some sort of sick interpretation on that, it's your problem.
Freddie gave the world fantastic music and fantastic entertainment, he was/is loved by millions...unlike you mohamheadz, your kind give negativity and hatred to the world.
Thank heaven for Freddie's vision--it was the making of Queen. And Tim does say "showman" (no idea why you think he says shallow man--other than the accent).
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Tim Staffel said " I was never a shallow man" which he believed that's exactly what Freddie was. Well the way Tim speaks, he seems to be the real shallow man. Even a bitter man, I would say.
When he died I was only 7 years old. But I've always admired him. His voice is so incomparable and touching. I really wish that somebody could make him alive again.
Isn't great that Tim isn't bitter but a true music lover. Other artists who leave a band early and then the band goes on to become huge are often bitter and twisted.
@ryanjones1983 I don't think so... I asked about song in the over of video when there is some kind of ,,frost Queen's picture". But it was a year ago. Now i know - this song is called My Fairy King :)
to all my fellow Queen and FREDDIE MERCURY fanatics out there, hey guys i need your help im making solicitation, not for me but for my mom in law. i want to repair her house who has destroyed by typhoon last year. your single penny donation will help a lot. just PM me for the details. thank you so much.
Yeah Tim is very honest and humble. He is saying that it's good that he decided to move on to other things, because the world is better having had Queen. Props to Tim. And Ironwind1972, your comment is so ridiculous. Gay or straight, who cares? The guy made AMAZING music.
OK, it is true that anyone can get AIDS - it's a virus, it doesn't care what your sexuality is. That said, let's escape from political correctness. Fact: There are certain activities that can increase your exposure to the disease. Fact: AIDS occurs more frequently in gay people than straight people. Don't get offended by this. I agree with Ironwind1972, whilst it may be uncomfortable for some people to accept, it is highly probable that Freddie would still be alive had he not been gay.
True there are many "ifs" but probability is probability. Brian, Roger and John are still alive despite perhaps taking risks of their own, but Freddie took a bigger risk, which was gay sex. I mean, I haven't read anywhere that he became HIV infected by other means such as a blood transfusion. I have great admiration for Mercury the musician and I haven't got anything against gay people - nobody chooses their sexuality. What is really wrong, is propaganda.
i agree with crisstti. its also known that freddie and kenny everett used to share the same boyfriends (or something along those lines) and they both contracted HIV off of the same guy.
So easy to bash Tim Staffel, he's "the man who didn't stay in the band"... I think the man is pretty smart and honest when he admits "Smile" would never have been with him what Queen became with Freddie. And yes if he didn't quit the band (he was the lead singer of it) maybe Freddie wouldn't have joined them... So instead of bashing, let's thank him for what he did. "i'm glad i moved out of the way" he says. He's not taking credit, he admits he didn't belong to that band. The man is Fair-play...
Yeah I believe he is being very humble and decent when he says what he says. And he probably was a very competent singer as well, just not the frontman that Freddie was.
hahahaha that guy is a cock, he is just saying that cause freddie was actually talented, and became such a great influence and how often do u hear his name mentioned ....never haha
I think its HILARIOUS how Tim Staffel is almost taking credit for making Queen and changing the world because he choose to leave Smile and let Freddie join... his loss.
I did not know Freddie drew and painted so well! So do I and my mother. Yes, he WAS a true fab artist--singer/songwriter, musician, fashion designer, AND drew and painted. I the issue is that the pasive partner (either in a straight or gay relationship) is far more likely to get infected.
So we could say a lot of "ifs".
If he wasn't gay, if he was exclusively the active partner, if he had used a condom, etc...
