  • I met her around 1963 when she brought her one-woman show with Wesley Addy to Shaare Emeth Temple, a challenging envitonnment. The show was intelligent, classy and compelling and she was outstanding. I was a newspaper editor and got to meet her after the show and she was difficult, standoffish and cold. Dealing with show business people regularly, I had never run into that before and did not know what to make of it. But it still was an honor to meet her, Ado Annie and am Oscar winner

  • She's still working in a couple of new films in 2010 and 2011, one of which is with 90 year old Mickey Rooney, for a combined age of 184, that surely must be a record?

  • @mickh18 - thanks for uploading this tremendous set of photos. I am a big fan of Turner Classic Movies and have learned to recognise Bette Davis, Barbara Stanwyck and Greer Garson. Now I can add Celeste Holm to that list ! I hope TCM broadcasts Gentlemen's Agreement soon, I love the acting of John Garfield.

  • ...and yes, i adore YouTube because it's a bit like life, you can have a chance to find some real rare gems, like this one, amongst a pile of rubbish.

  • about her first works, She has an incredible icy glance (that makes me melt...) but weirdly i've been always watching to her like the charming, witt, emancipate, somehow un-conventional, loyal, friendly, smart, but still classy girl. She had to deal with real giants so she was often in as supporting role but i allways found myself to exclame "Hey what's wrong with these guys?, is she the one i'd adore!"

  • Wonderful tribute!!! Thank you.
