I'm an american and I love this century, but I would MUCH rather go back to medival times, where everyone was sort of healthy and not obese like most americans and you could go on adventures by foot and see things you wouldn't have much time to look at in a car, you could savor each and every moment you stand before a beautiful sight, see all the beautiful artifacts and architecture built by people, basically set up camp wherever you want and everyone was nice..That would be the life...
@Mcsmileyfacemuffin42 I would much rather live in the Medieval times but you see your view on it is completely wrong. Only the rich were healthy and even that wasn't very healthy back then. No one was really "nice" and disease was everywhere. There was NO hygiene. People bathed maybe once a year and the average life expectancy was around 40. You would be publicly executed just for bumping into a guard or tortured because they thought you were up to soomething
beautiful music. I would love to see the Middle Ages...minus the plague and people not showering or washing hands. But to meet an ancestor, how cool would that be!

@tigranvartanovitch i think the problems you list affect us less than you think. do you have birdflu? thats not even a concern anymore. are you fighting in an illegal war? probably not. is your religious freedom threatened? mine sure isn't. you have the right to own your own home, nothing feudal about that. if you know what to eat and how to exercise, you don't need to depend on "big pharma" or chemical filled food. you think our water is full of chemicals? i have no idea what you're drinking.

@mojomatt176 No. You can't have it both ways. You voted for these people. You're responsible for everything they do. So you don't support illegal wars and torture. So what are you going to do to stop them? Let me guess: NOTHING. You're responsible for the deaths of all those people in Iraq and Afghanistan and Yemen and Pakistan, and you're glad you live in the times you do. I guess that says it all, doesn't it?
@mojomatt176 You are right on one thing: Americans are so badly educated that it beggars belief. You don't know the difference between the dark ages and the middle ages. I am fed up of Yanks loudly spouting their misconceptions about other countries' histories. You daren't study your own: you would find out what you did to the Native Americans, the Mexicans, the Japanese, the Vietnamese, and a whole host of others. Then you wonder why you are hated throughout the world.
@tigranvartanovitch I refer to the Dark Ages because it more accurately portrays what I believe was wrong with the Western Europe in the last millennium. I've studied US history, domestic and foreign, and I loath what we've done to indigenous, third-world cultures. There are those of us who are trying to the best of our ability to change the country we live in.
@mojomatt176 I know who Ron Paul is. There is another candidate called Herman Cain, and he advocates torture. How is it someone like that can attract support? So you abhor what your politicians are doing. But you are voting for them. You might say you voted for someone else; but there is the collective responsibility of the electorate. You choose your politicians. If you elect a bunch of idiots and tyrants, then that is your fault. You yourself said: "I'm glad I live in the time I do."
@mojomatt176 According to the Peter Schiff Show, you can go to Ron Paul's website and find out how to make phone calls on his behalf. Why don't you do that?
@tigranvartanovitch I said I'm glad I live in the time I do because I can't imagine a better time in history. I live what I consider to be an enjoyable life where I'm free to do as I please and I'm surrounded by people I love. I've donated to Ron Paul, have his bumper stickers, tell my friends about him. I'm doing what I can.
@tigranvartanovitch Once again, I don't support any politicians that support torture. IF Herman Cain wins the primaries, you can be sure I won't be voting for the Republican Party. So I really don't understand how I personally am responsible for this. And as far as electing individuals, what choice do I have? The array of candidates that present themselves are all pathetic, with the exception of Ron Paul, so for the most part it's just choosing the lesser evil.
@tigranvartanovitch In fact I didn't vote for any currently elected government officials. I actively volunteer for the Ron Paul campaign, and if you study his policies and history, he doesn't support any of the current wars or torture. I support him in hopes that these wars will end. He's a medical doctor and also advocates reforming the FDA. So I'm responsible for all of these problems just because I was born in the US even though I actively oppose and denounce them? Interesting logic.
This music has so much potential. So much great music could come out of this. I don't know why there aren't any bands (particularly instrumental bands) who are playing this type of music.
@Kaveh1994 hmm yeah. Accounting for the 1994 in your name I assume you are 17 yo, which means that living in the age of chivalry would give you pretty much 13 more years to live (with "at birth" calculated life expectancy). Yeah, who wouldn't want to live in the age of poverty, total absence of any kind of human right with Church and landholders oppressing the commoners. Most importantly though, no mdoern medicine! An age where the common flu could kill thousands!
@sipsaimias At 17 years old, though, the "at birth" life expectancy would no longer apply. Someone who survived to adulthood could safely expect to die no earlier than their mid-sixties. Many people died later. Most people, though, died before they were 5. As for the landowner's oppressing the commoners, the average number of days a peasant had to work for his lord in a year was 60.
@dsydebot That means that on most weeks, a peasant was obligated to work 1 day a week. For that he got a house, land, and military protection for himself and his family. It might have been an imperfect system, but it was not intrinsically "oppressive". We work more for less today.
I bet you would find it rewarding to read some primary docs from the Middle Ages to see what the medievals thought of human rights, rather than relying on Monte Python caricatures.

@ironmaiden93ofangmar Yeah if your noble or some shit. But a peasant? You're oppressed by the church, the government and just about every person of authority. But the church was the worst.
