  • safe to say your runway is dry sir... lol

  • Great stuff, well done !

  • Perfect voice of engines...

  • always windy at shannon lol

  • Take Off starts at 2:45

  • 2:50

  • listen to those rolls-royce trent 1000s

  • @alexgets98 Yes they sure do make a fantastic sound. The whine off them is incredible.

  • I JUST HAVE TWO WORDS!!!AWESOME!BEAUTIFUL!!!

  • Anyone know what the black blob is hanging back from the fin/rudder. A measuring device of some sort?

  • The lift and sweep of the wings are quite incredible..great video !!

  • Great video, good job filming too in those conditions!!!

  • @1400ScaleReviews Thanks. It was pretty tough filming conditions alright. Apologies for the amount of wind noise. However it was very windy, wet. Plus I was standing on the roof of my car to get a good filming angle over the perimeter fence. Trying not to get blown off the roof of the car was the hardest bit :)

  • @radar050976 Hahaha, that would have made a great film though

  • wow, and it is quiet, I cannot believe as soon as it goes by the noise goes down a lot. nice vid!

  • You've also catched the size of it pretty well, almost like a 777 and definately unlike any other airline out there.

  • I watched this fly from Moscow on flightradar24.

I did suspect after watching it fly over Belfast that it would make a fuel/customs stop at Shannon.

I don't remember the weather being so bad in manchester though.

  • @EinkOLED Yes the weather was pretty awful as you can see. I was standing on the roof of my car while filming and trying not to be blown off :) Thanks for your comment.,

  • Great video and beatiful airplane

  • @Matson757 Thanks. Yes she is a beautiful aircraft. What struck me in particular being that close was how different her engines sounded to other regular aircraft I saw taking off on that day. The engines made the most incredible powerful whine when spooling up. A really beautiful sound to hear.

  • @radar050976

    awesome...

  • @radar050976 Of course, it's Rolls-Royce engines we're talking about here

  • nice video bet you got well wet, one of my mates uses tape over his mike for wind noise

    thanks for shareing

  • @M0JRA Thanks for the comment. Yes I was disappointed I ended up with so much wind noise. Thanks for the tip on the tape. I'll try that next time. And yes I did get wet. I was standing on the roof of my car taking this footage while trying not to get blown off by the wind :)

  • Nice video!

  • What's the thing bobbing about behind the tailfin? Some sort of test and measurement kit? Also, I think crinkly-cut engines might be the new fashion.

  • @spiccybaby nvm, Pprune has the answer :)

  • @spiccybaby you're absolutely correct, it measures several ambient parameters for the test phase of the 787 according to an engineer/instructor I spoke with at Boeing in Seattle. They're secretive about stuff, so much so that they don't want us pilots to take photographs in the simulator bay areas of the sims themselves or even inside which I looks like the Enterprise. Since they have many people from around the world training there, they are mindful of exportation of technology.

  • good video

  • Surely you could probably rig up some kind of wind screen next time for the mic opening. Nice footage.

  • @mikefad Ya it is a pity there is so much wind noise. I'll have to rig something up. Having said that I was standing on the roof of a car in the rain and wind trying not to be blown off so I was a bit preoccupied :) Thanks for you comment and feedback though. Appreciate it.

  • @radar050976 Hey, if you want to catch videos of this plane, just hang out at Boeing Field (KBFI) outside of Seattle. They're constantly flying the 787. One of the coolest thing about this plane I saw (my hotel room was in the departure end of the airport) is the lack of noise! It's SO amazingly quiet. It would be about 1000' above us where we were, and I could still have a conversation on my cell phone. Blew my mind!

  • @LINDAKBECKER I'd love to be able to pop down to Boeing Field but I'm living 8000 miles away in Ireland :) It was great to be able to catch it here in Ireland on August 18th/19th on its way back from Moscow. Having watched some other "normal" aircraft (i.e. 777, 757, A330, 737) doing this takeoff on the same day the 787 sounded totally different. An absolutely beautiful whine out of the engines as they spooled up. And yes they were alot quieter than the others who had a louder rumble.

  • @radar050976 Excuses excuses...what's a few thousand miles? Omni's 777 won't be going into Shannon as much as the 757/767 has been. Shannon is used as a tech stop between Eurasia and the US. We'll be flying the 777 mostly from mainland US direct to Eurasia since it has the range. If you ever come to the U.S. be sure to go to the Boeing factory in Everett. It's enormous--mind boggling! At one time it used to have its own weather system inside! It's worth the $18 for the tour.

  • @LINDAKBECKER I certainly will. A visit to the Boeing plant is on my list of things to do. Have watched many documentaries on the place and it looks fascinating. $18 sounds very reasonable to be honest.

  • @radar050976 yup, that's only 3 bottles of domestic beer...I'm sure in Ireland beer is better and a bit less expensive :-) What amazed me about that plant was, a few of the bay doors are like 30m x 100m. HUGE! If the bay doors are that big, how big do you suppose the building is?

  • some machine

  • Glad you caught it!

  • Wow! Those engines went instantly to full power!

  • Nice footage.
