I like the add video, I think it has nostalgia of the 80s and comes from an bygone age when Everest may have had a genuine interest in producing good double glazing. The ASA have ruled against their adverts on more than one occasion recently I see, particularly reference their sola panel promotions.
lol!! you do know everest won that case against the ASA ....... the case was that everest wasnt allowed to quote that they "fit the best" for a period but after testing the ASA had withdraw there comment and that everest are legally are allowed to say they fit the best now. it was in all the papers but as they say bad news is spread much more than good news. i also have access to everest literature and a bit of research goes along way.
I assure you Everest lost against the ASA over the complaint raised about their solar panel promotions. I am not referring to any other case, particularly not any case that tested Everest's "fit the best" slogan. In the solar panels case, Everest misled by overstated the proportion of total heating energy that the panels would contribute to heating hot water.
Beware of Everest saying their windows are 'A' or 'B' rated, when in fact they may not be rated at all or simply pass with the bare legal 'E' rating. Everest timber sliding sash with weights and cords is one example having no rating and only meeting the minimum performance, but Everest might try to tell you otherwise without putting it in writing!
the A rated windows are the ones that have the black rim on the inside of the sealed units. as standard they have a 20 mm gap betwwen the heatlok treated 4 mm panes of float glass with are guaranteed for a life time on the sealed units. and everything is made to measure. no they arent A rated they are now actually A + rated.
Thanks for the reply, but, no, Everest Timber Sliding Sash windows performance remains equivalent to the bare legal minimum "E" rating, unless you pay extra to bring the performance up to about 'C' or 'D' equivalent. The windows were still not formally rated as of December 2009. Sorry to inform you of this. I hope you weren't misled by Everest in so far as your above reply might suggest.
RE "what proof do I have of this", it is simply a matter of close and careful inspection of the Everest literature. Ultimately, you might have to actually get a salesman round if you want proof, in order to determine these details for fact, because, other than a sales contract, Everest may avoid explicit confirmation of such a low performance.
By the way, I think you will also find that the Everest timber sliding sash comes with 4-16-4 glazed units, and not the 20mm gap that you refer to.
right ok then. yes those are the measurements of the timber sash windows(i'm not sure what the measurements are in other companies but i'm sure they would be the same or below for the timber sash) the 20 mm gap refers to the timber casement pvc u casement.( which the best in the industry) treated with heatlok that reflects the heat back in to the room on all everest sealed units as standard.
the u value low E (emissivity) glass for the standard are 1.4w/m2k that includes the timber sash. the current regulation is 2.0 w/m2k or lower. the timber sash has double draught resistant seals. yes is you do want better u value there is the option to have heatlok plus which is 1.2w/m2k
infact I found the u value of 1.4w/m2k explained on the anglian site to be A rated or B rated. I assure you everest are A Rated. I could add more but I myself have to comfirm the right information. there in something about the draught seals that they arent made of rubber but of some memory foam stuff and that the seal *black bit " is foam too which aslo adds to the insulation... i cant remember at the mo.
You really need to check more carefully with respect to the TIMBER sliding sash windows. There is no pvc-u in these windows, no 20mm gap, and the timber sliding sash cannot be upgraded to anything better than C or D equivalent performance. I have a letter from Everest head office confirming "E" performance is standard for the timber sliding sash. Other companies offer between D and B rating.
@creosote11 I doubt that. the glass fitted in all everest winodws are A rated sealed units. the TIMBER sash FRAME maybe unrated due to the fact that it maybe be difficult to rate such a design. you hvae to keep in mind that normaly the whole window is rated but maybe in this case the sealed unit is a rated and the TIMBER FRAME maybe b or c rated. so as a whole the window is unrated. i assure you if the competion has d or b rated timber sash everest will beat that. that is their goal.
I would show you the letter from Everest that confirms the E rating-equivalent performance of the unrated timber sliding sash with weights and cords if this would settle your doubts. Everest have no offer to beat the competitors on energy ratings. The British Fenstration website lists many B to E rated timber sliding sashes, and it is telling that Everest are not included in the list.
