  • im a new photographer, iv done one wedding so far. Im getting the 40d (a little late lol) but i wanted to say your video makes me confident in getting the 40d even though it is now 2011 and this camera came out in 2007. thanks

  • I'm thinking of selling my brand new 550d + kit lens to buy a 40d + an L lens or a few lenses, do you think this is a good idea? The 550d feels too plastic-y and small for me, and i have no real need for HD video.. do you think its a good idea?? Thanks :)

  • 15 years of wedding photography.. to much and direct flashing for my taste. I am a 40D owner myself. I turn on the flash only when iso 1600 can't provide me enough light. NOISE isn't the enemy ! Noise can be artistic if you know how to take advantage of it.

  • hello may i know what lens did you used with your canon 40D camera for wedding in this video?

  • Very good! I'm surprised he doesn't bounce the flash more though. I still use a 40d for my weddings-and we think alike! I use the Tamron 10-24mm lens quite a bit for the wider shots. Mated with my 50mm f/1.4 & 100mm f/2 it's my trio i use 85% of the time! Great stuff!

  • Nice! :)

  • great vid would love to shoot a wedding there!

  • Great Photos, I hope our photographer has your eye!

  • your pictures suck

  • Well...um obviously you have been a camera user since you first picked up a camera...ahaha. He is sweet.

  • @Ariegiggles He said Canon user.... not camera user....

  • @globetrackers :that's not 17-85mm, it's EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM, an amazing lens. But i agree, no fancy stuf and a whole bag of lenses.

  • @rookierok Dat's definitely no L lens.................but I'm not dat's smth to worry about , it all comes down to atmosphere of the moment not the equipment used :)

  • @tatohej

    0:27 EF-S 17-85

    0:46 EF 24-105 f4 L IS

    2:00 EF-S 10-22

The flash in question is EX 580 II. If you stil think, you are right, fine by me. Those are the facts.

  • What I hate when I shoot wedding are amateur photographers - I mean guests with compact cameras, they ruining when wedding copuple poses. Photography looses then integrity, when people runnin into images with nonwedthings - pink cameras...or so...And especialy I dont like when people not acutaly needed in image are shown there and dont respect instructions of photographer...even theyre shadows can make some good shots looking like crap.

  • Amazing shots and tips...Can you keep adding; I'm a newly inspired photographer and can use all inspirations. thanks

  • Felicitaciones al fotógrafo....fotos muy lindas y de buena composición...

    saludos desde Lima-Peú

  • I`m a non-Flash-User but his Flash-Pics are awesome

  • " Direct flash? I'm disappointed in Canon allowing a photographer that can't light properly be representing you as a company. Take this crap down plz."

your"lame" direct lowered flash light is in photographers world known as "pulling the shutter" (or similar in english, sorry if i wrongly translate that term) and its allowing him to expose background and freeze movement.

his work is professional, your comment is not.

  • Oh man, I would love to score an Italian wedding.

  • tell nasty aunt bob to GTFO the way at 1:40

  • His work is professional. Of course un-sharpened, high res, raw images wont blow you away in a low res youtube video... Are you bitter amateurs really saying the couple is going to be unhappy with these pictures?

  • awh, well lets not be mean :)

i think that they only made this video so for people who want to buy a 40D think that famous professionals use it. And many of his shots are very good. Who cares if its on camera flash? if it gets good resuts, its all that matters :)

  • Many professionals use 40D's. What would you rather see? An Ansel Adams composition or some laywer's insipid macro photography done with a 5D mkII and a $2000 zoom lens?

  • whats wrong with direct flash?.. i think he manage to balance the flash and the ambiance light pretty well and the image looks great. and the way he handle the fill flash also is quite impressive with the limited gear he's using for a wedding photographer (40D, 10-22mm, 17-85mm and 580exii).

  • 3:06 is the best shot of this collection, I'm still trying to figure out why he exposes the way he does. The hard light from the flash is blowing out the dress in many of the shots, there is no detail. The 1D mark III would be the optimal choice for a wedding, 10fps for quick capture, & and huge dynamic color range to help draw in the details. I noticed, all the shots with high apertures were slightly out of focus or washed out with flash, while the low apertures were more dynamic. Needs work.

  • the video is better than the pictures....

  • show us the picture that you took...

  • 1:28 that picture sucks ass! i actually got goosebumps seeing it!....

  • starting at 0:46 secs. its 5d!5d!5d!5d!5d!5d15d! and 5d!.

  • that's true hahahahahahaha

  • i love his accentt

  • Hey guys look at 0:45 seconds video its not actually 40d he's using its a 5d, he's making us a fool! i know coz i have a 5d and i will know every canon camera even with my eyes closed by touching them. Anyway this video is full of bullocks.

  • Its a 40D - fool!

  • Who you callin fool, open you eyes fool!

  • Clearly you don't know what you're talking about and don't have a 5D or you would notice that the rear button layout is different on the 5D and 40D. The camera in this video is a 40D and it is you my friend who is full of "bullocks"

  • Starting at 0.45 its actually a 5d with 24-105 lens attached on it, and with the speedlite 530ex II.

  • At :49 it's a 40D - it has the 40D layout (unless the 5D is the same?) - the lenses do change quite a bit throughout in this, though it's not always clear if it is the 40D throughout - or they're telling porkies!

  • Its definately a 40d! look at the screen size + layout

  • its a 40D @ 46-47. you can see lines on a pop up flash and the 5D has more of a rounded top for the viewfinder. and its a 580 ex(ii) not 530, there are 430's

  • You must be looking at a different 46sec. The profile shot pointing to the left, after the guy grins - that's a 5D, and the shot after, pointing to the right, that's a 40D

  • he's right - at 46-47 sec, it's a 5D, and then the next clip it's a 40D

  • It would be nice if it was in PROPER English.

  • Truly amazing

  • i'm going to embark on wedding photography soon. seeing these kinds of videos is inspiring.

  • stunning images!

  • Some of the viewer comments seem petty. I enjoyed this video.

  • what does he say in :38??? he likes to shoot in a "_____ style". any help would be appreciated.

  • he likes to shoot in a REPORTAGE style

  • He means journalism style

  • 30 years of failure

  • Haha yeah 30 years of failure

  • you mentioned a 10-22 lens for wide shots, what about longer lenses? what do you use?

  • lol

  • yes it is

  • ur so dum... its something called youtube degrades the qaulity and its no HQ feature...

  • Excellent video, excellent photographer, and great motivational ideas to get you to buy a 40d.

  • And I thought professionals use Mark-III's for their job :-j:))

  • I enjoyed watching the movie. Its spiced up with his accent! Its like watching Van Helsing!

  • 10-22mm, i like this lens...

this lens can make the dramatic picture

  • is this a advertisement

  • does anyone know what lens he uses besides the EF-S 10-22?

  • at 2,15 u can really see how small he is.

    great film

  • Do I need 40D for photography?

  • no, i would start with an amateur Dslr. For example a Canon 450d.

  • Great videos and great photos! And its the man (or woman) behind the camera that makes the pictures not the camera. Maybe more grain or less depth of field, but what is shown here is beautiful.Belissima! (i owe a 40D too and will be shooting my first wedding this week *yikes*)

  • very easy to say i guess...I've been impressed by a lot of photographers who use what you call amateur equipment. Anyone can name equipment and say what your using is rubbish! Maybe give advice instead of criticism...show why a 5D + 16-35mm f2.8 would be better and maybe show your examples?!

  • Its not so much the camera, more about the photographer, you don't need a >$5000 to get nice pictures.

  • Yes, your videos are much better!! perfect style, beautiful pictures. BRAVO! stop throwing tomatoes from the sidewalk until you can back up your critical words.

  • I love ur video, it's really great

  • Great Video

  • wow thats amazing !! i love that camera

  • I can't understand the reason why he was dubbed with this strong italian accent...it isn't his voice!!Subtitles would have been better.. not all the italians speak english like that!

  • great video, thats a great camera!

  • great vid. thats my dream cam. just gotta wait for a half more paychecks to get it :)

  • that was a great little video - really enjoyed it :)

  • I quite like his accent :D

  • For magix93 ... do you make photos in the church ? really small one? I bet you never have been in an romanian church ;) it is so small and dark, without an flash your dead, did you see the action ??? You don't have time to set up something to light the face in the middle off the day, so ... use 580ex for fill flash. Regards

  • I think it was better if the translator didn't have a stupid italian accent only because the photographer is italian.

Penso che sarebbe stato meglio se l'interprete non avesse avuto un accento italiano solo perché il fotografo è italiano. :-)

  • I have the Canon EF-S 10-22mm. This lens is fantastic! The Canon 40D is an amazing camera, specially with the L serie. Thanks! Very good video.

  • oh, how much is the lens that you have? (10-22mm)

    I kinda like it:))

but I like the fisheye lens better XD!!!

  • Well, the Canon EF-S 10-22mm have a high price, and you will need buy the lens hood. If you want a fisheye lens too, maybe the Tokina AT-X 10-17mm f3.5-4.5 DX is a better election for you.

  • is it compatible with the 40D? :D

  • Yes! The Tokina is compatible with the Canon 40D. You can read the review here: Fredmiranda_[dot]_com. Good luck!

  • or sigma 10-22

  • I purchased the Canon 40D when it was released and have had an excellent experience with it, I have photographed allot of my friends weddings and always get excellent results.

I am also a Car racing fanatic and the pictures the camera turns out are excellent, so much that my family and friends urge me to go professional and open up my own business.

    I highly recommend this camera.

  • I just purchased a Canon 40d and found this video very helpful. I will be attending a wedding in June and intend on taking some pics with flash, and now I know how to set it.

  • you are awesome :)
