  • Fairuza Balk is such a cute and beautiful little girl!!!!! I love Fairuza Balk and the movie so much. Even though I first saw it recently. And I don't give a fuck what other people have to say about the movie! I don't care if it's "dark" or "frightening" its a beautiful movie and I love it!!!!

  • I respect Return to Oz more than The 1939 musical, wich I do love deeply. But Just for the simple fact when it comes to Return to oz, it stayed more true & faithful to the books. & I appreciated that. In the 80's when it came to adventure fantasy films it was all about darkness & Black magic. Laybrith, The dark crystal, Star wars. So for that time it was very popular. & Even Walter murch said when he intended to make this film it was aimed for a more adult crowed. A "realistic" Land of Oz.

  • The song is Strange Little Girl by The Stranglers.

  • @veronica73681 We have the same user name.Ha Ha Ha!

  • omg i can not find this movie any where i wanna buy it

  • I really relate to her.

This was a favourite of mine

  • i feel so bad for this lil girl so much darkness with her programing =( she grew up to be a wiered demon like person cuz of all this monarch programing and tourcher =(

  • my fav childhood movie

  • WHO Sing This Song?????

  • @selena1013 the stranglers

  • Loved this film as child, brings back so many great memories, seeing it again.

  • Fairuza Balk was such an adorable little girl, and talented too. She really did fit the part well. I agree that it was good for them to pick a young actress who actually looked like a child. I think we all love Judy Garland, but she looked more like a young adult in her twenties when she filmed the movie. I always enjoyed this Return to Oz film, and I was happy to watch it again recently for the first time in years.

  • @rosek102 Think they should have given her young artist award for her betrayal of Dorothy and your right she was so adorable as child, have you seen her now though.

  • what year is this from

  • @Heyde1979 1985

  • very intresting song, I cant make up my mind if I like it or not. 0_0

  • @AustinJohnson07 thats sooooo wierd cause i was thinking thee exact same thing. i was thinking of finding it to dowload then i thought...nah maybe i only like it cause it fits the video perfectly. i cant imagine myself listening to this at a bus stop 4 e.g

  • what's the name of the song?

  • shes cute in this movie speciality when she intruce herself

  • And since "The Craft." I think that film really messed her up as a person. It is a shame too. As Dorothy, she was great and so was the film.

  • Nice work on matching the music and the visuals.

  • I should know I am Wiccan

  • Well I know thats not true because people in the occult don't believe in Satan

  • she isa awesome actor. She is sooo cute her too.

  • Love this movie! I watched it all the time growing up

  • she's got a freaky, souless stare

  • a cute little demon

  • Even back then she looked like a little Demon.

  • PRETTY INTERESTING Fairuza Balk GOES FROM THIS TO BEING WITCHES TO BEING THE WATERBOYS GIRLFRIEND TO AMERICAN HISTORY X

  • Oh sorry that last comment was for surfanimal1990s, and again Love2U XXX

  • I almost have the same birthday as her, I was born may 22 but we were born the same year.

  • I Love this movie! I watched this growing up w/ my cousin like all the time.. the heads were really scary

  • Fairuza Balk, Mr. T, and I have the same birthday. May 21! I always thought my birthday was not a special day and that noone cared except my family and a few of my friends

  • Fairuza Balk is such a fantastic actress. She is one of the few child actors who has managed to do very well as a young adult. RETURN TO OZ, VALMONT, GAS FOOD LODGING, IMAGINARY CRIMES are fantastic films.

  • so that isn't David bowie singing,it's sounds alot like him tho.

  • It's The Stranglers, Strange Little Girl. Good in'it? Love2U XXX

  • cool she was so cute in this movie, man i want to read the book series all the way,I loved both movies, disney shouldn't be ashame of making this sequel or something wicked this way comes or black hole,I love those movies, underated dark disney classics,I love them and that's song fits so well in this video, only David Bowie has the talent to pull of a beautiful song like that, cool video.

  • A 2:38 you can really see why her name is Fairuza. (Fairuza is the turkish word for turqouise.)

  • ya shes definetly gotta be one of the most underated actresses, looks and skill today

  • oh hell yeah

  • there is many great things to say about fairuza but will be here all day saying those many great things, she is so beautiful and an amazing actress and that isn't even 1 of those many great things, she is more than i can describe, a love her man, GRRRREAT

  • Great film, I just ordered the Dvd!

  • lo yeah

  • She was so cute back then!! ^_^ I think she is cool now too though

  • She is Soo cute as Dorthy

  • I remember this movie from when i was little. I found this movie really interesting but also quite bizarre. And i also didn't realise Fairuza Balk was the little girl. Interesting :)

  • Now this is a blast from the past my childhood just flashed before my eyes :0

I only just learned that it was Fairuza Balk who played Dorothy. Great Movie

  • this movie still freaks me out

  • i was so excited when this movie came out i was a fan of the original, oz and journey back to oz the cartoon, i t was so hyped and the merchandiseing , i went and saw it in the theaters, i was dissapointed , ye s it was good, but left me dissapointed , it was dark, and scary, and not a musical

  • I was GLAD it wasn't a musical! LOL

  • me too,

it was weirdly unusual for disney and I was way happy about it, somehow at some points I think it settled some imagery for a nightmare before xmas!

  • She was my penpal - very clever and interestisk human

  • omg! love the song and the film!!

  • where do u get your pictures?

  • If you read the info on this video it tells you which movie the pictures came from.

  • thanx to lizzierags yes it is the stranglers strange little girl i now have a copy thanx to e-bay!! bless you for answering my question not Manny bother love2u xxx mikeyd543

  • she was an amazing looking child and now a very amazing looking adult! will some one please tell me who did the sound track i really like it.

  • the song to this short clip is strange little girl, i think it is by the stranglers??

  • Yea it is by the stranglers. Great band.

  • She was so freaky & cute, now she's freaky & HOT.

  • me too

  • She's not very beautiful but she's excellent actress... I love her interpretation on American History X

  • Aww she was really cute

    she is still pretty now

    I LOVE her eyes! :)

She was 8 when that was filmed.

She looks like my niece. I might get a

picture and do a lookalike :)

  • the thing was that judy was 18 when she was dorathy, and fairuza was 8, so it might be a lil counfusing sometimes.

  • She was 8 when she was in that film.

    She was adorable then.

    Now she's fucking hott.

  • She was 11 years old, not 8.

  • In the interview with her, she said that she was 8.

  • this girl is 1 year older then me, she was in american history x and the craft. she looks beautiful today. she must of been 10 yrs old when return to oz was filmed.

  • WOW I didnt know she was in this movie!! AWESOME! I LOVE Fairuza Balk! :-D

  • she has a chicken!! XD

and i had no idea that was fairuza balk!

lol i just watched the movie "the craft" a couple of weeks ago, shes also great in that move.

  • I did not even realize that was her in the movie! I grew up watching it!

  • Man i rmrebr watching this movie as a little kid...and it scared the hell out of me...

Especially those heads in the hall...

  • yeh it was scary, parents started complaining that it was too scary for their children, theres definitely somthing sinister about this film, its like the writers were thinking'so u parents want a sequel to the 'wizard of oz'for ur kids do u ,well take that!'

  • I got this somewhere hiding. xD Gotta watch it sometime to understand the movie, considering I watched it when I was little to not understand what's going on. XD

  • I love the pictures!

  • doesnt seem to do much smiling...

  • man the 80's were truly magical

  • What matters is that they chose an excellent actress like Fairuza, instead of one who looked more like Judy Garland or was age-appropriate.

  • yeah they had to tape her boobs down to make her look younger.

  • "yeah they had to tape her boobs down to make her look younger."

Weird, because the same is said to have been done to Judy Garland in the original Wizard of Oz.

  • i love this movie but i dont understand why she is younger in this one then in the originial when its supposed to be afterward

  • It's not really a sequal to the first film, just another book based on the series. Judy Garland was just much older than the book's character.

  • my favourite band and film!

    too good!

  • wow, great slideshow!

  • Yes, Fairuza Balk in 1985. She was 11.

  • is that the girl from american history x ?

  • just the best film ever<3

  • fairuza rocks!

  • this movie is amazing i love it.. one of my fav cult classics.. i used to own it.. it got lost within time. i need to get a new copy but its hard to find.

  • i just got this movie at amazon for 7 bucks (dvd).. waiting on it..

  • wow really? i got to go check that out right now. thanks

  • but fairzura balk is a very good actress in this movie

  • this movie isn't as good as the original. this one scared me so much as a little kid

  • Although I like them both, I think this one is better than the original. But it is very dark, especially for a children's film.

  • @messinwithit im kinda guessing it wasnt ya know...meant to be like the original LOL

  • @messinwithit well the original BOOK that the movie was based on was dark as well so i found it to be a more faithful adaptation

  • amazing to discover this movie... i had heard of it and i think they showed this on tv. i didnt remember much about it. even that lady from Carrie is on here.

Carrie's mom i mean " the religious fanatic" Piper Laurie...

  • Yep! Piper Laurie was Aunt Em in this movie.

  • i have never seen this movie either and never heard of it so i can't say all that much but the video was really well made-like always.:)you never make videos boring like alot of people on youtube. The song fitted really well too.

  • she plaays the crazey one in the craft

  • 4 my skl play i was dorothy 4 "the wizard of oz" not the return

  • I haven't seen this yet so, I'll ask you a question. n the beginning do they electricute Dorothy, she goes into a state of shock where she then returns to Oz subconciosly, and she wakes up and runs away.

  • The doctors are about to electrocute Dorothy, but the power goes out. Dorothy runs away in the storm, jumps into a river, falls asleep in a floating crate, and wakes up in Oz. I think when she returns to Kansas, she's lying on the riverbank. But the movie is open to interpretation. There's an interesting theory that Ozma represents Dorothy's subconscious.

  • y was she in hospital though if u remember :-)

  • already a good actress

  • love this video!she was a strange little girl indeed...

  • good job... i remember this movie.. actually i only saw the beginning with a key, and i think i remember her friends were made of stone or something...

  • Yes, Dorothy finds all her old friends in the Emerald City have been turned to stone. The movie is brilliant and very underappreciated, but pretty dark, esp for kids.
