you could possibly use that sort of thing to heat up water, or do something similar :) (gas condensation, or something on the tip where the sun is concentrated).
For someone living in Scotland, you have a very good English accent btw ;)
@gryzman Thank you, yeah I went to School in England. I'm hoping to put some clay and some steel pipes into a zig zag then paint it black to heat the water. Its essential to keep the system counterbalanced,. Thanks for your interest, there's an update also at /watch?v=JY-DhRM_Vto where I'm doing some more work on the gearbox
Very well done. Great idea. This can be VERY helpful in the near future, the ability to teach others will be even greater. Think about it, no money, people will need to learn, placing your tech in much need. You are helping a lot of people.
@skb0rzn Yeah cheers, I got some metal gears for it yesterday but I've run out of cash again thank you bank bailout! So I'm waiting for my next paycheck so I can get some bottom tapping tools to screwthread the smaller gear onto the stepper motor and get some 25 mill cylinder bar as a better pair of drive shafts than broom handle! I've also got to get my gf her present so I'm probably looking at January February before I can get it finished.
This is quite the setup! Would be cool to see it in action.
It's hard to suggest improvments without knowing the arduino or seeing it in action, but it looks like your sensor is pointing towards the focal point. Should it not be set to be paralell to the incomming rays?
@Raklestad235 Yeah you are right, but I haven't made a mount for it yet and I have been playing Civ V for the past week so work on it kinda stalled. I'm also redesigning the stepper motor gearing mechanism to incorporate 2 welded bicycle forks on it because in Scotland there's no way my current setup will survive the wind up here. Thanks for your support I'll do an update running up to Xmas. Also funds have run a bit dry because its Lexi's Bday next week and she goes mental when I drill and saw
Pretty Freaking awesome.
