  • wonderful song...

  • Joseph was really a lucky yet poor father: How can a man be the father of the Son of God? That might be the reason why he died so early. However, he was really a just husband.

  • Joseph: the only dad who never got called to the Principal's office :D

  • Wow, I also sang it in a Christmas play 2 years ago and it really was inspiring, how awesome.

  • I sang this song 3 years ago in a christmas play. It is a wonderful song. Defently God inspired.

  • yeah, I want to be a good father too... but first, I need I wife ;))

  • Amazing Song Amazing Saviour Thank youFather God for the Gift of your Son Jesus Christ. T he Son of God who takes away the Sins of the World. Is He your Saviour.? If Not Receive His Love Mercy and Forgiveness. Only a Prayer away. Thank you Michael For Sharing your God given gift with us.

  • This is just so beautiful, thank you for sharing it.

  • This has been one of my top favorite songs for many years. I wish it were as popular as others at Christmas. I just love Michael Cards voice and how he presents all his songs.

  • thumbs up if your name is joseph!!!

  • thumbs up if your name is joseph!!!

  • I sang this song in church on Christmas Eve several yrs ago.... it was inspiring and difficult to not weep just alittle while singing it.

  • You can really hear the love in this song. Jesus may have been Gods son but he was the son of Mary and Joseph. They went through pregnancy and his whole earthly life just as normal people do with their children.

  • si alguien sabe el nombre de esta cancion en español se lo agradeceria mucho!

  • i sang this at our church play last year

  • i sang this at the church christmas play last year

  • i sang this at the church christmas play last year

  • prettiest version ever of this song

  • whoever disliked this video-----SCREW YOU ITS AMAZING!!!!

  • i love, love, love, love, love St. Joseph ... He will never let you down, ask his intercession and protection daily +

  • @djdw2008 - Joseph was just a man, chosen by God to raise His son Jesus the Christ. Jesus is the one who will never let you down and Jesus is the only One who can protect you, He is the One you should pray to and ask for intercession. Yes Joseph was a good man, but he's not your savior. Jesus is.

  • what a beautiful song i couldnt help but cry it his hard enough to be a father to one's own child much less someone elses but i love all children Joseph what an example R.

  • Any man can be a father; it takes someone like Joseph to be a daddy to someone else's son; especially the heavenly child. If ONLY all men could be the daddy's they are entitled to be. Those who don't appreciate the right they have, may the way be paved for those men who do want to be a father to someone else's child. Wouldn't we all be in a better place now? I know I would. J

  • Thanks so much for sharing this video with me! I used it on my music blog. You can check it out at aanbiddenglorieus.blogspot.com.

If you have thought about making more Michael Card music videos for some of his lesser-known pieces, would you let me know?

  • Such a beautiful and moving song. Brought tears to eyes. Wow!

  • michael card is awesome

  • amazing

  • Thank you for uploading this. I have to sing this for my Christmas mass and this really helps me learn the song

  • This song reminds me of my foster father and may God bless all foster fathers.

  • Joseph, the forgotten Saint, one of the most important people in the Bible who doesn't have a single speaking line. He's one of my favorite role models in all of history.

  • @Xplayer007

If you haven´t listened Hymne til Josef which can be found in Youtube sung by Morten Harkett I warmly recommend :)

  • "How can I raise a king?" Every mom and dad who raise their children in the love of God are raising kings:

I Peter 2:9 "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:"

  • @HannahTheScribe

Big deal??? Yeah Hannah she was only THE ONE CHOSEN BY GOD..no big deal .

  • @mintyday

Thats true, she was chosen, but don't you think Joseph was chosen too? I do. It wasn't just any man. God is the real "father" of Jesus but I think Joseph played a huge role. Joseph was there for at least 12 years of Jesus's life. Fathers are very important In most cultures, especially the Jewish one. I think what Hannah meant was that they make such a big deal of Mary that Joseph's role is underplayed. It was very important. Thank God for Joseph! :) Thanks for watching!

  • @mintyday I get you..but truthfully...Joseph was also chosen by God...

  • They sang this song at my church around Christmas. I couldn't remember the title, but I'm happy I found it.

  • Cooles Song! Sehr stark und mit viel gefühl gesungen.

  • Always brings me to tears to hear this song

  • @mkeaton22896 , Thanks for your love of Christ and the man He chose to raise and nurture Him. Peace always in the Most Precious Blood of Jesus our Great God and Saviour

  • When you call on St. Joseph, pray to him and I can promise he will answer. I know because of him I was born with the gift of poetry. I have helped many people because this great St asked the creator to give me a special gift which I give back for all those who ask me to teach them how to pray. St Jospeh was the greatest father and husband I have ever known. Linda Ann Henry-The people's poet

  • what a beautiful song... :-)

  • Thank God for foster parents!! Joseph was the first foster father. How AWESOME is that?!

  • I agree My dad and I sing this as well!!

  • From among all men, God chose Joseph alone to rasie and nurture the boy/God, and Joseph, without reserve and complaint, out of obedience, and out of love. snatched our Saviour and King, Jesus, away from Herod. We owe everything to Joseph! Thank you Joseph. Rest in God always!

  • My dad sings this song every Christmas at Church. I love it it is so amazing

  • I love this song so much

  • I sang this to my Dad the night before he had a heart transplant 11 years ago. My dad is the greatest and I love him. This song is his favorite ( and mine too). Thanks God for letting me keep my dad here with me all these years, and thanks God for the donor family. We love them so much...

  • Thank you Jesus for foster fathers!

  • @tink8966

    Amen.

  • How could it feel to be part of Jesus Family. Does any one knows this song in Spanish? Where can I find it?

  • Everyone is a child of the King. :)

  • i want to be a good father....

  • well i think thats the first step to being one :)

  • @duchessmaeve92 Okay, this might be creepy, but your comment made me tear up :)

  • @ANTHONY212008

    God can help with that.

  • @ANTHONY212008

Oh dear sir know that I am Praying!

  • I haven't heard this song in years, done by Michael Card! Thank you for posting this awesome video .Merry Christmas and shalom!

  • beautiful melody ;) no words ;)

  • indeed no words can express the awesomeness of God what he did to us. That is completely erasing our sins. And that we can live eternally with him and fellow belivers in Heaven.

  • this song is beautiful! just perfect for the presentation of baby Jesus

  • at my school i am playing joesph for the christmas pageant =D so i wanted to hear the song

  • I played Mary In a Christmas play one time and my Joseph did a very good job.

  • My husband and I saw this movie on Dec. 25, 2006.

It was one way to celebrate a non-Christmas Dec. 25th, as we don't celebrate Christmas anymore.

We celebrate instead the FEASTS OF YAHUWAH, found in the Scriptures, Leviticus 23.

This movie was -and is- a very beautiful interpretation of Scriptures: Isaiah 7:14, Matthew and Luke. Thanks for posting this wonderful song!

    Ilu

  • what is the title of the movie?

  • The Nativity Story is the title :) its very good :)

  • The title of the move was: THE NATIVITY.

    Shalom!

  • Well, I searched it and imbd said "The Nativity Story". but The Nativity works just as well i guess :)

    Shalom to you as well

  • LOL! CREDITS "ME". (:

  • lol :p

  • At Dollywood a few years ago at Christmas, they had Joseph singing this from center stage, Mary singing "Breath of Heaven" from the left side, and an angel singing "Mary Did You Know" from the right. All three sang at the same time, and it sounded like one song. It took your breath away it was so beautiful. I think the Ft Lauderdale Pagent also has done it that way.

  • it might make me cry to see my newborn son

  • you skeptics do you really think that God the Father would have picked an unscrupulous man to be the earthly father of Jesus and the wife of Mary.

  • Do you skeptics believe that God the Father would have picked an unscrupulous man to be the father to Jesus on earth and the husband of Mary.

    JOSEPH WAS HUMBLE & SINCERE.

  • i guess i should be a priest one day

  • From all the good saints I've known, Joseph was one that I respected the most. And whenever I hear this song... There is some bitterness in my heart... Such a wonderful man and Godly man is he. Saint Joseph.

  • beautiful for Christmas <=,)

  • i always loved the story of baby Jesus.

(written by my 6 year old daughter)

  • I'm going sing this at my church Christmas service in December

  • I wonder, the Bible doesn't speak much about Joseph, Michael Card in this song makes an assumption that Joseph was a good virtuous man. I'm not saying that he wasn't I don't know but what if he wasn't as good and virtueous as the song suggests. The Scriptures that we do have suggest that he did follow divine direction, so I could be all wrong in asking this.

  • Joseph could have had Mary put to death for being pregnant and not married in their culture that is what michael card's song scribbling in the sand is all about. If you read the beginning of Mathew and Luke you will see for yourself that he also took a long trip to egypt to protect Mary and the baby Jesus. sounds like a pretty good guy to me!

  • I guess I wasn't questioning if he was a good guy, I am just questioning if he was a good and sensitive a guy as songs like this make him out to be. What if Christ had a rough and possibly abusive and or neglectful father. What if his father was difficult like many fathers out there. The Bible teaches that Christ understands our pain, part of this understanding was due to his personal experience as a man. Joseph could have been a very nice man. I don't know.

  • Excelent questions. : ) I believe rose has brought significant points to the argument in describing what Joseph was prepared to take on, upon faith alone. He had no angelic visitors but believed the dream he had. Further than that the Bible describes him as virtuous & his love of Mary obvious. I guess it comes down to whether you believe the Biblical account & it's implications or not? God bless : )

  • If you're asking sincerely, then I suppose that your question is not untimely. Please read Matthew and Luke, and see the challenges he had to face. Only a virtuous man would risk his own life for a baby that was not his...

  • Again, heavenly music. We are truly blessed to

    hear such pure, amazing sounds.

    Thank-you

  • Praise him, Praise him all you little children, God is Love,,God is Love...

  • simply beautiful

  • piękny!!!!!!!!

  • Wish I could give this 6 stars. Having a daughter and grandchildren "not of my flesh and blood" I can somwhat relate. Can not EVEN imagine what it would be like to be raise the Son of God! This was a great movie by the way.

  • I'm reading the replies and I felt lead to send a special Christmas wish to you and your loved ones. I beleive that Jesus has the chance to reach more people this year since the economy is so bad and more people will focus on loving their family just because, and not only because of lavished gifts.

    Praise God,

In your field you must get to see many many of God's miracles. As I assume you are a nurse / paramedic.

    I am a nurse too.

  • After I retired from the military worked as a paramedic then whent to RN school. Been a RN for 3 yrs now and volunteer in EMS. Live and work in a small rual town. Yes, indeed hae seen Gods hand move in my life and others. Recently saw a good Christian man die surrouinded by family and friends. He went home to the Lord poor by the worlds standards but notheless , in my eyes, a rich man. That to me is an example of God's hand at work.

  • I had never heard this song until church this morning.... I cried all the way through it! Can you imagine how Joseph and Mary must have felt at His birth?

  • I'm crying and praying right now listening to this, it's always been a favorite of mine.

    Merry "Christ"Mas,

love from one of your sisters in Christ

  • I love this song, it makes me see Joseph as an adopted father...he must have been so scared "not of my flesh not of my bone" I love it

  • i listened, and played violin for him tonight!

  • I love this song so much. My dad sings it every year at our Church's Christmas Eve service. It's truly such a beautiful song.

  • I'm so thankful you put this song up here!!! It's been one of my favourites for 25 Christmases!!!

  • this is really a wonderful song..really touching.

  • Where can I buy Michael Card's CD with Joseph's Song on it?

  • Joseph's Song is so earth shattering - it is one of the most, if not the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. As a Catholic, I had forgotten about St. Joseph till I heard this song.

  • I love this song, it gives me goosebumps. thank you

  • me too :) its a beautiful song! :)

i had to listen to it many many times to get the vid right...and it still effects me almost as much as it did when i first heared it:)

  • WE love this song. This is a family favorite. We used to just sit quiet and listen to this one. My mom and I and be moved by the thought of our emmanual God with us. This is just such a touching song.

  • how

  • have someone sing this low n one sing it an octive higher it sounds realy pretty my frend n i do it to help my frend patrick to sing it(he has to sing it for the pagent) it sounds really pretty

  • Truly inspirational!

  • This is one of my favorite songs. Though I like the version of this song on Michael Card's album 'The Promise' better (the one in this movie sounds like the version from his album 'The Life'). Probably because that's the one I heard first.

  • prolly is

i don't think iv heard the other version

  • beautiful

  • I was raised by a "step-father" so this song always had that added element. He treated me better than my father would have, and certainly endured more. Imagine! God was in a unique position of being able to choose His Son's stepfather.

  • I'm gonna cry. You put one of my favorite movies to one of my favorite songs. This is gorgeous! And I LOVE this Joseph! *sniffs* Oh I am SO gonna cry....

  • Today I pray for all people's to seek truth and to do that you just have to seek Jesus Christ. He is the way,the truth and the life. Receieve HIM today and know for certain where you will be eternally when you leave this beautiful world. God Bless you my friend.

  • In my opinion, the character of Joseph in "The Nativity Story" is the best depiction of Joseph ever captured in cinema. Great pics of the movie, and great song.

  • i love the song but i like it better when my friend sings it hes really good

  • I heard this many years ago. I think about it every christams.

  • I Love this song, I can't even imagine putting myself in Joseph's shoes! I think this song has been out for a while, but I tell you what... it wasn't until my Grandmother passed away that I really heard this song... and I think it was because I know this is a song that my Grandmother loved. Thanks so much for posting it!

  • I like the song but i wonder at times about thew theological implications of the song. God the Father in HIs infinite Wisdom would not have chosen anyone who was inadequate for the task of being the earthly father of HIS Son. Agreed that it would have been quite tough for St. Joseph to bring up the Son of God but none the less the HOly Family are the perfect Family so I am quite sure he would have done a good job as the earthly father of the Son of man

  • Mary stating in Luke 1:47 shows that she was not Holy. He needed no one because he was God in flesh. If the bible states that there are not good no not one that would include Mary and Joseph.

  • pastormarc113. How do you explain that the angel Gabriel addressed her "Hail, full of grace"? Not Hail Mary, full of grace. The angels knew her by her condition, not her name.

  • you didnt hit reply to his comment so i dont know if he will see it ..maybe i read it wrong but it seems like his point was she Wasnt holy ...not that she Was? so your just agreeing with him? why does he need to explain? lol

  • pastor, God saved His Mother from sin as God saved Elijah from death, and so holy and immaculate was Mary by His grace, that even the blameless before God Elizabeth felt unworthy in her presence, as did David feel unworthy when God's dwelling place of old approached him, (2 Samuel 6:9) as God had been very specific about His dwelling place of old was also to be designed. Peace in the Most Precious Blood of Jesus our Great God and Saviour

  • @mlbprock Yes, Mary was definitely saved from sin at the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, as she trusted in His redemptive work, as all sinners who are saved by grace are blessed to receive. She was not, however, sinless prior to her accepting Christ. "For NONE are righteous, no not one, ALL have fallen short of the glory of God." And Mary herself states in the book of Luke- "Oh God, my Savior" Only a sinner is in need of a Savior.

  • @amycrn7 , Mary was saved from sin as Elijah was saved from death, (Even though all sinners MUST die) all by God's grace, and so holy and immaculate was Mary that even the BLAMLESS before God Elizabeth felt unworthy as the MOTHER of the LORD approached her. Peace always in the Most Precious Blood of Jesus our Great God and Saviour

  • @mlbprock

    Amen!

  • @amycrn7 , Actually, Mary was saved from sin by her God and Saviour, as Elijah was saved from death by his God and Saviour, even though all who sin must die, (God does make exceptions then!), as Mary was so holy and immaculate by God's grace and design, that even the BLAMELESS before God Elizabeth felt unworthy as the Mother of the Lord approached her. Peace always in the Most Precious Blood of Jesus our Great God and Saviour

  • @mlbprock

    Amen! Beautiful post!

  • @mintyday , Peace to you always in the Most Precious Blood of Jesus our Great God and Saviour, and may Mary and Joseph be our guides and examples of how to place God's will over our own, all for His Glory, and by their intercession, may we grown in holiness and charity.

  • What a touching song!!!

  • Actually, I was wondering if maybe you had other songs that were Christian... like in general. Also, I was wondering if maybe you wanted someone to keep in touch with, who you can share "Christian ideas with." My name is Liz, by the way, and I promise. I'm not trying to weird you out. I just thought maybe if you want we could exchange e-mail addresses, and sort of penpal over e-mail. I really appreciate that you took the time to respond to my comments. God bless. Liz
