Funniest moment for me has to be in the episode 'Look before you leap' where Frasier forgets the words to Buttons & Bows. Has me in stitches everytime!
the funniest moment is when frasier turns on the coffe grinder and niles has his hand in the garbege dissposal i was literally rolling on the floor laughing
Frasier: [to Eddie] All right, young animal: learn from the master. Now, follow these time-honored traditions, and you too might get lucky with that young Pekinese peach you've been eyeing in the park. Now, for mood: Vivaldi. And then, for lighting: not so bright as to show the wrinkles, not so dark as to make her think you're hiding anything. And leaving nothing to chance...
funniest moment ever is when frasier is bitching about seattle and niles answers the phone acting all hard and he like why dont you come say that to my face.......oh never ou mind where i live XD
Frasier: Hello? Operator: Seattle Police Department. Frasier: Yes! Uh, the Fine Arts Forgery Department, please. Operator: Hold on just a second sir. (turns to the other cops and calls into the Chief's office) Hey, Chief! Come and listen to this guy! (Chief comes in) Chief: What is it?Operator: Just come here and listen. (turns to the other cops and turns the phone onto speaker) Which department did you say you wanted again, sir? Frasier: The Fine Arts Forgery Department. All Cops: HAHAHAHAHA!!
@rockermanmatt O.k. ... Now you're confusing me. Those who do NOT find it funny is just because they do not get the type of humor it is. The same goes for Curb Your Enthusiasm (which I love), a lot of people don't get the humor. You just confirmed that you loved Frasier & found it funny yet you don't get it? Let's just leave it to being a matter of personal taste & opinion.
@rockermanmatt It's not that it's a 'smart' show, per se, but that it makes fun at being snobby & pretentious. The dad makes the show a hit because he is as real as one can get. LOL It's really sad, though it proves the point, that we have to explain it to those who really do not get it. Therefore, some are unable to enjoy a hilariously witty show.
@rockermanmatt Elvis and Marylin Manson are two American musicians, whats your point? Not because two things are from the same place means they're the same, thats the logic of a "druk" person
@mnsa0676 LMFAO! Good thing you threw out an income number online-bet everyone is gonna kneel in front of the glory of your e-penis now! Nobody is going to believe that someone successful is actually petty enough to launch into such a long rant and need to flex their alleged financial muscles over a couple of insults from an internet troll!
Funny but not funniest. "So I'm alone, because I'm afraid of being alone!?" or "Or better yet, why don't we jump on a bicycle built for two, ride over there ourselves and ask her what's so strange about us" and two of my favourite lines
@DaKrazyKatt That's one of my favorite scenes "So I'm alone, because I'm afraid of being alone!?" I wish they had that clip up on youtube but I can't find it.
Don't me wrong i find this funny but this is no where near the funnest moment, i much prefer high crane drifter as a source of awesome Frasier moments "Well i'll just add that to my list of reasons to die!"
I love that episode so much. "Perhaps what you need is an etiquette lesson!" Or how about Niles? "I was speaking to my brother, but to put it in language you can understand, 'buckbuckbuckbuck!' lol I'm laughing just thinking about it.
@headfirst1987 Yes, there's too many to choose from, though certainly (in terms of dialogue) two top contenders would be when Niles complains to Frasier on the balcony that he gave up La Traviata tickets to accompany dad to a tractor pull while Frasier struggles to justify dropping out in favor of meeting with a date; and when Frasier (S4E8) says Martin made a point: "Yes, Dad, with all the subtlety Mr. Van Damme displayed when he jet-packed into the Vatican to subdue that nasty Pope imposter!"
The guy saying this scene isn't clever or funny is actually correct IMO. Frasier is a funny show but the writing is not particulary intelligent or subtle, it's actually pretty obvious straightforward humour. The talented cast and chemistry between the characters is what makes the show great, not the writing. Frasier is in many ways a sort of refined Three's Company-esque sitituional comedy with a few wise cracks to fill in the gaps.
@sanfordsson Plus all the dynamics in the show are just humorous, like Niles' 'secret' attraction to Daphne, Frasier and his dad having no compatibility whatsoever, which I can relate to, and stuff like that. Yeah, it's not a crackup kind of show but I enjoy it for what it is. :)
The Seattle police do in fact have a forgery department, made up of 7 detectives and a sergeant, which would deal in such a case. Why it should be funny to ask at the police station of a major city for the fine arts forgery department I do not know. If someone thinks a work of fine art, and a painting comes into that category, is forged then the police would be the first people to call. This is a cheap crack which is neither funny nor clever. There are a thousand funnier moments on Frasier.
@kevinastraw Don't worry, Frasier's comedy is not supposed to be catched by everyone. A forgery department may exsist; what makes the scene funny is that "Fine Arts". It was meant to show Frasier's sophisticated naïvety, typical of a man who did not grow up in the streets, and the attempt of his father to make him come to the earth, a place where neither "Fine Arts Forgery Department" nor even justice are expected to exist. Maybe not the "funniest Frasier moment ever", but certainly funny.
@walkietalkie74 You do not get the point. We are being asked to laugh at a situation which would not arise. Had Frasier simply phoned the police and asked for the fine arts forgery department, it would have been a particularly dumb desk clerk who would have not known what he meant. If you discover a painting is forged you phone the police. The laugh in this case is obtained on false premises. If you think that the phrase "fine arts" is itself risible then you need an education.
@kevinastraw LOL. Your answer just confirms that Frasier is not for everyone. Take it easy, man, you should probably watch something "simpler" and less brilliant ;-)
@kevinastraw ROTFL!.... if you don't like Frasier, you are free not to watch it. You are also free to laugh at Martin; do whatever you want. Sit coms are just about situations that would hardly arise in real life. Weren't they be a little exasperate, they wouldn't amuse anyone. Yes, "fine arts forgery department" is just a funny expression. You don't find it funny. Good, don't laugh. Believe me, everyone can live with that, me included ;-)
@walkietalkie74 You attack the man instead of his argument - always a sign of weakness. There is a strong streak of (deliberate) philistinism in Frasier - that is, ignorance and derision of the arts - and this scene encapsulates that. We are expected to laugh with Martin and at Frasier but it is Martin who is the joke. because he thinks "fine arts" is a joke. The fact of life is that a fine art forgery IS a police matter.
@kevinastraw I already exposed my point of view in my very first reply. Your argument about Frasier is so weak that all one can say is: watch someone else, 'cause you would probably never be able to get this sort of "light" comedy. About "attacking the man", it's you who attacked me. Just reread what you wrote.
@walkietalkie74 You are going too far with this - @kevinastraw is taking the joke too seriously, its just a joke on a sitcom, it doesn't need to be absolutely correct because its a good, well written joke.
Kevinastraw obviously likes Frasier, but is just stating that this joke isn't as funny as others/particularly funny.
You are both being silly, its a joke, it doesn't matter - let it be
@Xmaggot93X Um, for your information, South Park is an intelligent funny. Most of their humor is subtle, yet very witty, and sometimes great satire. I easily rank it with the likes of Frasier, however Frasier really makes me laugh a ton, while South Park makes me chuckle and say "that was very witty". The Simpsons and Family Guy are dumb funny though.
The best moment has got to be "Fine! I guess I'll have to make my own tea!" but it's almost worthless out of context, loads of other moments better than the 1 in the vid though :\
im torn between this, and the one where Daphne was pregnant and she couldnt get off the floor, so Nialls, Frasier and Martin had to pick her up and one of them turnt round and said 'you know Daphne, it took 3 cranes to pick u up' lol
@carb122 A brilliant scene, but she wasn't actually pregnant in that episode, she had just gotten really fat because of psychological issues relating to her new relationship with Niles :)
