  • Bush absolutely took info he knew to suspect because people told him it was suspect and presented it as fact.....Colin Powell was presented info that was suspect at best and went with it. The President leads this nation, I am sure you are giving Obama "a pass" on this whole economic crisis because others are involved too....what a lame explanation, others knew too so I am not culpable....really.....

  • truth to power and going to church,,,,,,,two things white elites aren't used to.........Bravo Rev Lowery, BRAVO!!!!!!

  • @kevcas73

    Amen!

  • Coretta knew she was dying. Coretta chose whom she wanted to speak her Eulogy. Mrs. King may even have penned some of these words-as a reminder of where this country had gotten off track. Personally all war aside. I find the Betrayal of New Orleans, to be the highth of outrage. While our own people were floating in the water, dead, dying, displaced. All we got from dubbya was

"good job, brownie". If dubbya was emabarrased, by these speaches, he shoulda been. Wishing you all a great night.

  • This was awesome! And he told the truth! It doesn't matter who coined the phrase but used the phrase to do what he wanted! I love him! I remeber when I heard as youngster, WHO WILL BELL THE CAT!

  • For war there's more, but no more for the poor.... Awesome and regardless of the setting these facts have to be acknowledged..

  • "She extended Martin's message against poverty, racism and war ... For war billions more but no more for the poor." Never forget how it was.

  • I find it interesting that George Bush and his administration gets all the blame for the lack of weapons of mass destruction. People call him a liar and worse, but did you know where the term WMD's in reference to Iraq was coined? That would be the 1998 Bill Clinton State of the Union speech. But Bill Clinton is never called a liar and he saw the same information when he came up with the term. Rev Lowery should talk about how great Corretta was and is today instead of using the dais to attack.

  • @BladderProductions really......really are you seriously trying to infer that WMD was a Bill Clinton issue?

my bladder is about to burst!!!

  • @kevcas73 look it up yourself, or are you afraid to learn the truth?

Clinton said it first in reference to Saddam Hussein. Oh, and stop drinking.

  • @BladderProductions get real.....not disputing he said it but you tried to infer it was Clinton's issue.......seriously

  • @kevcas73 So Clinton said it but Bush lied when he said it. Clinton is not a liar but Bush is.Ok I am up to speed now, thank you.

  • @BladderProductions clinton said in a speech, bush went to war on it to the death of 100k Iraqi and 4k americans......NOW, YES you are up to speed........you're welcome

  • @kevcas73 So if Barack Obama receives information from a source he trusts that there is valid evidence of WMDs somewhere, anywhere, he should just make a speech and hope that deters them? Clinton didn't act because there was no 9-11 weighing on him. Bush didn't act alone and people like Hillary Clinton and others agreed to go into Iraq at the time based on that same information. Did Hillary and others lie? No people like you just want to blame Bush. Its all you want to remember.

  • @BladderProductions the facts don't hate or lie or discriminate. Clinton did not go in because the information was weak at best and at worst it was NOT TRUE.....Well we know now from numerous sources that President Bush ignored evidence that the info was not true. Stop making excuses for Bush....It has been roundly proven by investigtions the US did as well as England.....

  • @kevcas73 If the info was "weak at best", then why even mention it in a State of the Nation address? Stop naming Bush alone because you know as well as I do that there were PLENTY of people that saw the same info and agreed on the action of going into Iraq to include Hillary Clinton, Tony Blair and Colin Powell. Please stop making excuses for everyone else.

  • @BladderProductions The Commander in Chief is it......are you really going to try and place blame at the feet of Hillary Clinton and Colin Powell for a decision the President made.....This is the problem with people like you, use info until it is proven to be wrong and then blame other people after that.......The DECISION WAS MADE BY PRESIDENT BUSH......that is were the blame lies...excuse the pun......

  • @kevcas73 I don't "blame" anyone. You do. I bet you blame Sara Palin for Jared Laughner too. I'll bet you think high unemployment is a republican issue. The economy is the fault of Republicans. I do not think Bush doesn't have to own up to the decisions he made. But to say he went it alone is absurd. Or maybe you believe he lied to H C and C P. Is that it? He tricked them? That wily Bush! I guess he was more intelligent then they were. He fooled the great minds of the smartest Democrats! WOW!

  • Dr Lowery is a very kind, humane human being. I have always enjoyed hearing him speak. He has charisma and class, too.

  • right on! we got dead teenagers and 20 sumthins over in Iraq for what? The guy who is sticking up for bush....youre the dummy cus everybody knows its the truth

  • and bush was there??

how did he have to balls to???

  • especially after Al Sharptons sharp speech speaking on Katrina and other issues haha

  • @project291284 Rev. Lowery had the testicular fortitude to speak the truth

  • Got him and conspirators in that hot seat where they couldn't budge.

  • Truth Teller!!! Dislike him if you want but your just wasting your time!!!

  • Oh I just love this man! LOL He has a wonderful wit and message, and he sees George W. for what he is. (smile)

  • Well if he's a "showoff" then he's certainly got some serious game.

  • A showoff?

He said what Mrs. King believed.

  • That was a cheap shot. Bush didn't have to be there, he was there out of respect and this moron of a preacher just showed how much class he does NOT have! If MLK jr. knew what thes current so-called civil rights leaders were doing today he would roll over in his grave. The last place for polotics is at a funeral! Moron!! Bush didn't deserve that!

  • Not a cheap shot. Speaking truth to power is how Lowery made his bones. Had he caved or deferred to Bush that would have been the ultimate betrayal of all that he has fought to change in this world and this country. And more importantly Mrs. King would have wanted him to say it. She was a vocal opponent of the war for these very reasons.

  • I will in no way disrespect the memory of Mrs. King, but he could have went about it a little differently, I'm never in favor of war for obvious reasons but the Rev. let his political views make an uncomfortable situation more uncomfortable. How would you like it if you went to pay your respects and someone took a shot at you in front of thousands, no matter how strongly you disagree? It was a cheap shot.

  • "In front of thousands?" It was in front of the world, that's the whole point. Besides if Bush is so damn pious then why is it a cheap shot to say the truth. Why?

  • Don't try and argue semantics, you know very well I was speaking of the attendees. And telling the truth is always in order, but this was not for that purpose. The whole point of a funeral is to pay your respects. You know damn well that as much class as Mrs. King had, she wouldn't have wanted anyone, including Bush, to have felt unwelcome in any way at her funeral. She was a very strong woman and taking a cheap shot at others was not her style, nor her husbands!!

  • Felt unwelcome? We're at war. You know damn well that this has nothing to do with having a good time at a funeral with all the bigwigs in the limos.

Martin himself said "that there comes a time when silence is betrayal." To his credit, Lowery did not betray his friend Coretta that day with silence and he certainly honored her memory by speaking out for what he knew was right.

  • How can you be a the funeral of a woman who stood for good and the suffereing of all people and mention the things that Rev. Lowery did. He did honor her by saying what she stood for what she and her husband marched for. Why not say it then? In Death you would think that you would want the truth to be told about what is right! And what the woman's life represented.

  • Rev. Lowery said what she believed and what she stood for.

If Bush didn't want to hear it he shouldn't have come to HER funeral.

  • Besides, like I asked you before, if Bush is so damn right then why is it an insult to say the truth?

  • Rev. Dr. Joseph Lowery speaks the truth - tho some people do not like to hear the unvarnished truth.

Thank you God for civil rights Icons like Dr. Lowery, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Coretta Scott King, plus many others who have continued the dream.

  • @broj8s8n79 truth to power, that is what you saw, truth to power....it was not cheap, the war has cost trillions and the lives will never be replaced.......

  • RIGHT DOWN HERE! and bush was clapping! the moron! great speech!

  • He speaks the truth and makes it plain. Rev. Lowery is a teacher, a communicator, and brother to our nation. May we all learn some lessons from his courage, his language and his life. We, as a people, govern this nation. If, we, want to serve our huddled masses and those who will huddle after with the audacity to dream of peace, prosperity and equality for all, certainly, when we serve our nation truth, justice, and equality the prosperity brings peace to our nation.

  • its too bad more people are not viewing this great leader and hearing what he has to say
