How can you go wrong with this?. The Sousaphone is one of the many attractions of that period.I remember at 12 years old getting the 'Saville' Radio Nights' L.P from Woolworths and playing 'Anything You Say' over and over again!!. It is testimony to the quality of the L.P that it still plays 100% perfect.
Just on getting a Henry Hall fix!!I have an article to copy and send from a 1935 Dancing weekly talking about the changing sound of bands and the demise of the sousaphone and banjo.I think i like the very early 30s so as they still had these instruments and therefore the sound was richer.
YOU VERY LUCKY MAN, what a fantastic record!!. As you know my favourite band and something I have never heard before. That sousaphone all the way through keeping it all 'glued together', and those violins of Eric Siday. Love the vocals too. A THOUSAND THANKS To YOU!!
I'm trying to transcribe Without That Gal, it's not going too well.
