  • he has my heart skipped a beat @ 0:05

  • @DNeilia really, he's married? But i saw another person's comment talking abt how she saw jake in sch one day... Or could it be uni?

  • Comment removed

  • @azukibeanmochi Actually, he's not the only one like that. Tanner, Michael, and Ross are also married but still attending university. :)

  • SWANK.

  • these guys are awesome.

  • From top to bottom, this was the best college group on this show thus far. Problem is, and you can sort of see Ben hint at it in other performances, is they should have had Keith been a bigger lead. Nothing against McKay, because he is obviously great at arranging the songs. I think they, the producers, wanted that "sound" when you hear it you know you're listening to VP. No offense to the other guys, but make a group of Keith, McKay, Jake, Tanner, and Robert when you graduate college.

  • @willhalt01 I appreciate your very kind compliment and your support of the group. I will say (and not only because he's my roommate and best friend) that I think McKay's voice is in many ways much better than my own, and I wouldn't have been able to sell the songs he did lead on nearly as well as he did :)

  • @9kmurphy No doubt, twas just my take away from a few of Ben's comments throughout the show. You killed "Every Little Step". Ultimately, I think it really comes down to what Sony wants.

  • the sing-off, the only show which you can actually call it a SINGING COMPETITION

  • If the group or Jake alone put out an album of music in this style I would sooooooo buy it! It seems like a perfect fit for his voice. It doesn't hurt that these guys are so adorable (especially Keith)!!!!!!

  • @wicketsmommy021210 they have an album on itunes

  • there are only 8 boys? (9) when they're on stage it looks like more than 8 (9) am i right?

  • JAKE!!!!!!!!!

  • The bass in this song is amazing they made everything flow so seamlessly together it sounded spectacular

  • I have a crush on all of them..... Jake's voice though makes me melt a bit though.

  • saw Jake at school today...I about DIED.

  • Love love love these guys, soooo smooth... love the style

  • I wish that they would have chosen a Michael Buble' song for the modern choice. They would have killed it.

  • please please please please please marry me makay :D

  • If you're in Utah in March (not sure dates yet) the Covey Center for the Arts in Provo hopes to have Vocal Point in concert for 1-2 performances. Keep your fingers crossed and check out their website for concert dates.

  • VP should take the 5-6 best performers they have. Jake, Tanner, the bass (Robert?), the guy who sang Bobby Brown, then the guy with the glasses.

  • Ive seen them live they are sooo good!! gotta love us Mormons!! =D

  • Ugh! It kills me that these amazing guys were voted off. I still loved that performance, though. Darn you, Jake, for being married. :p

  • the 3 dislikes are relatives of the other groups. lol

  • jake DOES know something you don't

  • I would go gay for Jake. Which is funny 'cuz he's a married Mormon.

  • @Skyhawk02 do you even know what intonation is?

  • @Skyhawk02 You keep using that word. "Intonation."

I do not think it means what you think it means.

  • @MisterClockTower One of the many definitions of intonation is: A manner of producing or uttering tones, especially with regard to accuracy of pitch. This is the most common usage for it in the music world. When someone complains about intonation issues, they are saying that it sounded "out of tune". If I am wrong about this then I am in good company because this is how all of my music teachers have used the word "intonation" and many of them were highly successful in their respective fields.

  • @Skyhawk02 Right. So where do you get the idea that these guys are out of tune?

  • @MisterClockTower This video was probably their most in tune performance. Their week six song "I'll be missing you" had more obvious intonation issues, which was surprising since it was the only performance they weren't dancing around the stage for, which should have made it easier. I will admit that I may have exaggerated their intonation problems but keep in mind that I only think they are out of tune in comparison to the other groups on the show, on their own they are amazing.

  • @Skyhawk02 While I do agree that I'll Be Missing You did have some obvious pitch problems, remember to take into account the emotional rollercoaster the guys have been through these past few weeks, and how much this song meant to them all.

And in response to your second point, I've been studying music theory for 14 years, and I really don't notice any more pitch problems than in the other groups' performances.

    $0.02

  • I would agree that older songs work better with Vocal Point. It seems to me that those older songs have more soul, and have better musicianship in them. They're classier, cleaner, better harmonies and chord choices, etc. Really, everything Vocal Point stands for and looks for in music.

  • @christianrockr08 Agreed! AND you can actually understand the words!

  • These guys have some of the best male vocals I've heard :), that's counting some of these big recording artists too. Every performance they have a different lead singer, and every performance the lead sells it :D

  • I always feel the need to applaud after watching them

    *hug*

  • This is like Mad Man A capella! Swanky!!!

  • If you love them onThe Sing Off, check out their latest CD: Back in Blue. p.s., if you live in Salt Lake County, our library system has copies you can check out for free! (can anyone tell I'm a librarian?) If you don't live in Salt Lake, ask your library to buy some!

  • Lead looks kinda like Will Arnett...

  • They're going to win so talented. Oh my goodness this show is really amazing

  • Sarah Bareilles puts it perfectly, they are theatrical without being a caricature of themselves. So impressive, LOVE how amazing the lead was, just smoooooooth

  • This is my favorite performance of the whole competition still.....

  • Best Performance ever. These guys need to win to show the kids it is hip to be clean cut and down to earth...

  • i am swooning with Sara! Uh-MAZING!!!!

  • major swoonage.

  • He sounds like Michael Buble

  • I freakin' love Vocal Point!!!! The lead just looks so classy and his voice was beautiful!!!

  • No dislikes yet....

  • Oh my gosh!!! This was so awesome! I loved it so much! Wow, I was afraid, since I love the original so much, but that rocked!

  • Jake's voice is like butter. <3 Love it.

  • I just realized that this group has gotten a standing ovation for all of their songs so far (FOUR of them! And not a single negative comment from the judges). O.o

    Great JOB guys!

  • Very polished. Like this group a lot.

  • Stop hating on the retro music(whoever posted this), Frank Sinatra and Louis Prima's music is without question a better quality of music than modern music, and I sincerely hope that keep giving us acapella versions of great songs from the big band era.

  • SO FREAKING SEXY!! I love these guys and i love being mormon!! :D

  • what a voice man

  • i love it! :D

  • HE SOUNDS LIKE MICHAEL BUBLE!!! awesome job

  • Classic Manhattan Transfer sound. Fan-damn-tastic.

  • 1:30 - 1:33 SANG IT!

  • They're a cute little rat pack of wholesome Thundercats. <3

  • The coolest outro to a song I've ever heard starting at 1:29.

  • BEST GROUP ON THE SHOW! LOVE THEM!!!!!

  • OH MY GOD I AM LITERALLY SWOONING

  • WOW WOW WOW

  • These guys can sing the Alphabet and sound amazing. I want you guys to win

  • @AK77449

They actually do sing an Alphabet song....

  • Ah my god! Swoon!

  • I can't stop watching them! I swear Jake looked and sounded a little like Sinatra . Tell all your friends about them and watch Vocal Point videos on YouTube...there's one they do in the airport to cheer up stranded passengers...and the Jump Jive & Wail in the library is delightful!

  • IM IN LOVE!!!

  • Its REALLY hilarious that even with how good Vocal Point is that Ben still doesnt give a standing ovation... GO BYU's Vocal Point!

  • They sure look snazzy. I think the costumes made the song as much as the song did, really (love those hats).

  • The more I watch this, the more I like it.

Not only did Jake completely own the lead, but the rest of the group handled multiple tempo changes and some interesting choreo...all without missing a beat.

My only fault is that I really wanted to hear a ninth on the closing chord...but if that's my biggest complaint, then they're doing everything they need to do at this point. :-)

  • @LALABA1 of course it wasn't Michael Buble....It's a Frank Sinatra song....BIG DIFFERENCE!!!!!

  • I really like the lead's voice, really Sinatra'ee, really smooth and pleasant

  • love this harmony! great performance one of my two favorites. its this one and afro blue singing american boy.

  • Umm... SUPER hot:) they can dance and sing!!!

  • I am not into this kind of performance music but I was walking by as my wife was watching it and was struck by the harmony at the start and then it grabbed me and I could not walk away. The samba was unreal and all the seamless changes between styles was just amazing. I like how Jake just stepped in and out of being with the group or walking on his own, he looked like he just owned the stage and did what he wanted. Just like Frank Sinatra would. Smooth singing and great accompaniment.

  • We're behind you boys. It's almost as good as seeing you guys live. Keep up the good work! : ) ~ BYU girls

  • Go Mormons!!!!

  • the most polished sound in the comp. excellent

  • Love!!! 2nd fave group this season....I think. I forgot who was on the the other half.

  • Yeah Jake!

  • That was awesome

  • groovy!!

  • I wanna marry him...

  • It's weird. I could've sworn that one tall blond guy in the back was in the Yellowjackets.....ha ha. It was good, but Michael Buble...NOT!

  • I think I creamed my panties just listening to their voices. And the lead vocals was just too cute. I think I'm in love <3

  • how can you complain that the song is too modern when the theme was 1960's?

  • Mormon boys will win!!! :D

  • Modern songs ain't everything.

Polish, class, tighter-than-tight harmonies, and an ability to arrange the hell out of anything they're handed IS.

    GO VOCAL POINT!

  • Wow! XD I never really respected you guys before since I'm kind of anti-college groups on this show,

But you guys are becoming REALLY REALLY talented!

    Keep it up!

  • I watched this last night and it was so cool it took me like ten minutes to find!!! LUV IT!!!!!!!!

  • They are so hot rockin' the fedoras! I love Vocal Point!

  • What I love about this group is that they can do it ALL...pop, oldies, rock, spiritual. What a joy to watch. Can't wait to see them again.

  • why does ben never stand wtf!

  • that was so sassy way good! awoo!

  • BEST PERFORMANCE OF THE NIGHT! THESE GUYS REALLY ARE THE MOST TALENTED OUT OF EVERYONE!

  • @playsoccer227 I think Not Afro Blue is... but they are Good....

  • @mrduckbear11

    What kiss at the end?

  • @strydizzah sorry, wrong group :)

  • haha i think the lead looks like will arnet and sounds like michael buble during this performance

  • @RyomaE13 Don't you mean he sounds like Frank Sinatra? -_-x

  • I am swooning... JAKE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @RyomaE13 He's WAY cuter than Will Arnet.
