It's hard to compare Albanian to English, because English is very modern (has had a lot of recent influences, especially from french), but there are cases, usually when the english word derives from Romance languages (like french / italian / spanish / romanian / portuguese). I think it is better to compare Albanian with these because put together they make it simpler to remove the more recent constructions and to try to extract original forms. But reconstructing PIE is surely impossible.
I find it weird that linguists still believe in a monosyllabic protolanguage. The more ancient a language is the more complex it's sound and it's grammar. It is a sign of the modernity of current languages that they are slipping into less syllables, simpler syntax and more compact grammatical structures. I believe there are already studies that have found that newly formed languages acquire complexity quite easily. It takes a lot more time for languages to distill some of that complexity.
this is simply a good work , congrats, albanians know what their language and culture contains or its "background"! but unfortunately till now albanians had to deal with "just serviving" and had no time to study even though wanting to, i guess its time for this nation to draw its jewels! cheers
Another Albanian unique word, TRUP.., trup =body ,from below the neck and down.without brain (head).Amerikan troops =Amerikan soldiers ..Soldier = troop ..A troop don't have to think or use his brain but just to follow his orders. He his a troop.
@sorin1918 it's not only american troops, the word troop exists in French, Dutch,German, Romanian, Italian, Swedish etc. in all german and latin languages, which is used to refer to soldiers- it has nothing to do with a lack of mind capabilities. In albanian "trupat ushtarake" or "trupat policore", we use it for police forces/agents as well, not only military troops. The word "Trup" means "a body" of a living person, not a dead one.

OLD Albania is Illyrian, one more answer!! what language was old Illyrian?? it was Pellasgian, get it, we are the living fact today,we speak a language which is in common with no language out there, a unique language in Europe is only spoken by Albanians and that is Albanian! salut
very interesting and astonishing at the same time.
2bilderberg would you please make a video about albanian literature just to make more interested in the language because if there are materials to read in it that would be amazing
Nobody could grasp how your knowledge skills are useful to understand massive linguistic phenomena too much (and too long) underestimated by most of the academics and scholars!
Eng. pursue comes from lat.persequor(to follow), through a french borrowing.
The complete history is available on wiktionary.
