2D IS LEGEND!! LONG LIVE 2D ANIME!!

  • you mean animations right? ^^; lawl not all 2D cartoons are anime... don't get me wrong I love anime too it's just that I'm pretty sure this is just a normal cartoon and not anime! ^^;

  • Yes I am aware of that. But if you do your research u will know that anime in Japan is short for animation. Remember animation began in Japan. Japanamation is and always will be the most original and tha best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Check yaself b4 u reck yaself!! lol I mean no disrespect!

  • @JTMAnimations lol I I think I've been owned! XD

  • @JTMAnimations Actually, no one knows where animation began. Because as far back as art goes, so does animation (be they considered animations or not, it's still a series of drawings showing a sequence of actions). Japan didn't "invent" animation, nor did animation originate there. Like all different forms of art and entertainment, each country and culture has it's own unique style.

  • @StarlingDinNova no, its not anime. anime is japanese cartoons actually. this isn't in the style either sooooo yeah

  • @StarlingDinNova I would not consider this "anime"... highly stylized but not traditional anime. Really good stuff though... was this flash?

  • @StarlingDinNova Try an american style cartoon, anime is japenese-style cartoons

  • @StarlingDinNova

    Correct.

  • @StarlingDinNova

Anime and animations are two different things.

  • @RikkuFan001 Actually, anime is a TYPE of animation. Anime are animations that take root in a Japanese-style of cartooning. Animation IS cartooning, after all. So, no they're not two different things. One's broad (animation) and one's a branch of it (anime).

  • @WinryElric6390 Actually, cartooning is completely separate from animation. You do not have to know how to draw to be an animator. Animation has its own sets of rules and principles which can be applied to anything wether it be stop motion puppets or CG models. Although it is best to know how to draw, to say that Animation IS cartooning is like saying animation IS making puppets or animation IS modeling.

  • @wikiemol2 Okay, I stand corrected. Animation is bringing life to the inanimate. I misconstrued my phrasing; thank you for pointing it out so as not to confuse anyone. :) I was thinking on the basis of 2D animation, but I appreciate you bringing it to the light that animation isn't just 2D, but 3D as well.

But my point in my previous comment still stands, as to anime (japanese animation) is a branch of animation...not necessarily meaning they are two completely different beings.

  • @WinryElric6390

    an·i·ma·tion

    –noun

    1.

animated quality; liveliness; vivacity; spirit: to talk with animation.

    2.

an act or instance of animating or enlivening.

    3.

the state or condition of being animated.

Nowhere in there says that animation is cartooning, hence don't try and prove me wrong with what you think animation is. I'm just saying that not every little animated piece in this world has to relate to Anime. But I do understand that Anime is a branch off of animation, so chill.

  • @RikkuFan001 There's no need to be so snappy. If you weren't hung up on the one TINY detail I had put in my comment (which was pointed out earlier, and I had responded stating I'm sorry for my miswording), you'd know I was talking about how Anime is a TYPE of animation. I know this, this is what I get paid for. SO unless you can find a time machine and prove my point wrong (and I'll be blunt this time: ANIME IS A TYPE OF ANIMATION), keep your smartass quiet and learn some manners.

  • @WinryElric6390 Well excuse tha hell outta me..lol im not tryna start any shit..I was simply stating facts thru my studies at university wen I was majoring in visual effects and animation aka anime...To be honest everybody is influences by the style of japanese animation and traditional hollwood/american animation. Lets be real for a sec, Disney is the king of animation right?? an to stay thay way they bought out Marvels rascist ass..lol DC all the way untill they morally fail me.lol point done

  • @StarlingDinNova you are in fact half right BY DEFINITION ALL CARTOONS ARE ANIME as anime is only the Japanese word for animation and as such people associate anime with Japanese cartoons only (incorrectly ) if you want to refer to cartoons based off manga a more proper but but less used term would be Japanimation

trust me i am an anime otaku

  • @Ruldolphmaker Two things.

One: You are correct in saying "anime" is the way Japanese refer to animation, however in English "anime" is used to specifically refer to Japanese style animation. Calling the Lion King "anime" would make no contextual sense.

Two: In Japanese, "otaku" refers to a basement dwelling nerd. Literally the kind of person who lives with their mom's basement and plays video games all day, when they are not watching hentai. It is an insult.

  • @LihAniaih in my opinion otaku is really just The term is a loanword from the Japanese language. In English, it is usually used to refer to an obsessive fan of anime/manga and/or Japanese culture generally, which can actually really just refer to a geek of a specific subject (i.e computer otaku)

but in america refers to an anime fanboy/fangirl

  • @Ruldolphmaker That's funny. Your first argument regarding all 2D cartoons technically being "anime" was based on the technical definition of the word, not the opinion one might have on what "anime" means to them. In other words, the definition overrides their opinion. Now here, you're arguing that the technical definition of "otaku" doesn't matter because your opinion of what the word means is different.

So, which is it? You can't have it both ways.

  • @LihAniaih i used an opinion and fact for the otaku definition the:

"otaku is really just The term is a loanword from the Japanese language. In English, it is usually used to refer to an obsessive fan of anime/manga and/or Japanese culture generally, which can actually really just refer to a geek of a specific subject (i.e computer otaku)" that was a fact

i was saying because of that while most people may say it is an insult my opinion is that it is not because of that say what you want

  • @Ruldolphmaker Yes, and in the opinion of the first person, anime specifically refers to Japanese animation and not western animation. Meaning that if you consider yourself to be right about this otaku thing, they have to be right about anime, too. It's the same argument.
