  • I really liked the tutorial and hope you put more up! I am new to resin and I have a unique rock I would like to resin in a open bezel so it can be seen from both sides and hardened like cement to protect it. Any suggestions?? I sure would appreciate any help, suggestions or advice. Thanks! Deb

  • what type of paper are you using ?

  • I'm assuming that you used a laser printer? Just checking, just in case I decide to do this:)

  • wish i could cut super-high speed :D

  • @pixelnoggin

Where can you find double-sided pendants? I want to make a pendant necklace with an image on the front and on the back a message I wrote. if they aren't available, is there any way I could still include the quote on the back and still seal it with resin even though it doesn't have a space for it?

  • your as bad as me... do everything in front of the computer.... even my craft...

  • Can you recommend a good program to reduce my paintings to a small pendant size?

  • Hey there!Everything looks so nice and clear.I wanted to ask about alternatives though. What is Mod Podge? Is it some kind of glue? Can I use something else instead of that? And an alternative to easy cast? Can I use any kind of resins or is it a specific kind?

  • omg you sound like my art teacher o_o

  • I want to use very thin metal artwork in a 1" silver plated blanks. Would I use a paper layer first and simply lay the metal artwork on top of the paper?

  • How many coats do you put on ?

  • @unconventionalsenshi Sorry for the slow response! I feel like the matte has more "tooth" to it, like it is a better surface for the resin to stick to.

  • John, how would it work to add a small amount of food coloring or dye to have a slight tint to the epoxy?

  • @jennifdrake Hey there, I don't have experience with tinting resin, but I am pretty sure that EasyCast make a product for adding color to their epoxy.

  • A one inch hole punch works great! Much easier than cutting out each and every one with scissors :0)

  • @8092KJG Absolutely! :) I finally got punches for most of the sizes of findings I use.

  • What type of printing paper are you useing?

  • @TheNameIsKye I am using Epson Ultra Premium Presentation Paper Matte. The best thing to do is try to find out if your Printer Manufacturer makes a matte paper that results in water resistant or waterproof prints.

  • @pixelnoggin and what printer? I've had a lot of trouble with sealing pictures, I can't seem to get it right. The Mod Podge itself makes the ink bleed when I try to coat them. Thanks!

  • ***** Super cool video *****

  • Great Tutorial. Thank you!!

  • Hi I like your tutorial, but I have a problem, I can't hear , I think is in your side, because I have both volume all the way up, so please help me in this , I want to be able to hear this tutorial, thank you keep the good work.

  • John,

Thanks for the tutorial! What kind of brush are you using with the mod podge? The one I used left a lot of brush strokes. Does this not really matter in the end, after the resin goes in?

Also, where did you get the "burnisher"?

    Thanks!

  • @sjacobsencarrato I use a cheap Loew Cornell nylon brush. It does leave a little bit of stroke in the dry Mod Podge, but it does not appear visible in the finished product. That burnisher is from the '90s, so I'm not sure where you might find one today, but it was made to use with transfer lettering.

  • I love Modge Podge. It dries so fast and no smearing.

  • do you have ANY idea how to make ear plugs?

i figured you were crafty and might be able to guide me in the right direction.

  • hi this an excellent totorial congratulations

i would like to no where i can buy al the supplies to do this plisssssssssssssss

i am from venezuela but i can buy it and shipped to me many thanks

  • I am trying to do something like this with conchos for horse tack. what kind of resin would you suggest using? it has to be very durable, waterproof and uv resistant since it will be outdoors and get a lot of use. Thanks :]

  • @horseluvr0210 Sorry for the slow response. In my experience, Easy cast is very durable and with a 1:1 mix ratio, is very easy to use.

  • I've been wondering how to make resin jewelry. Thanks for sharing!! One question though, you mention free graphics to get started...where might they be located, exactly on your blog?

  • @ElPip Sorry for the slow response! That free download is not currently available. I will have some available in the future.

  • I think this is a wonderful video, and it has helped me out a lot. However, the one problem that I am continually having is when I coat my paper with ModPodge, it always smears the ink. I have been using a glossy photo paper because that's almost what it appears you use in the video. I've also tried a couple different types of paper, but all seem to smear just a little bit (enough to make the finished project look less clear). What paper do you recommend? If you have any tips, please share!

  • @barefootshelda Smearing is probably an indication that the ink and paper you are using is not creating a water resistant print. It might be that it is a glossy paper you are using. You may be able to get paper for your printer that will not smear, I use Epson Printers with Ultrachrome inks on Ultra Premium Presentation Matte Paper. Another option would be to have them printed somewhere, but I know that's more costly.

  • Thanks for sharing! What's the best kind of paper to print on for projects like this?

  • @lorraelena I use Epson Ultra Premium Presentation Matte in Epson printers to make my graphics. Matte surface paper works best.

  • Hi John,

can you please let us know where you purchse your ring bases and photo frames?

    Or just frames...

Thanks you are great and very inspiring....

  • @jazzysher Hey there, I have selling the findings myself for a while, but I struggle to stay on top of inventory management. I am currently trying to find some other sources to recommend here.

  • @pixelnoggin * have been selling :)

  • @jazzysher Hey there, I was selling the findings, but I just can't keep up with my inventory :). So, I am looking for other people who retail these to recommend here.

  • John, i was wondering where you got those ring findings??

  • @nanoux Hey there, I am working up a list of retailers and will post that here.

  • your awesome ty for teaching

  • Hi, Love your video!! Where did you get your empty pendant holders? I don't know what to call them or where to look.

  • @joyann8790 You can google pendant tray and you will find some. I am working on a list of retailers to post here.

  • I was at the craft store today and was tempted to buy resin. I couldn't find and good ring for casting. Glad I watched this. Learned more and now I know to get mod podge. :D thank you! can't wait to add this type of jewelry to my etsy lol

  • Is that an owl-shaped piggy bank in the background? :)

  • @nomiesbutt999 It is :)

  • thanks for the tutorial videos, john

  • I'm not pc savy, could u do a remedial how to vid on how to take images, alter them to fit the size of project, get them all on same sheet like u did & what kind of paper or printer to use? I'm n artist just not dig artist.really apreciate so much if u could teach us vinyl record lovers the 21st century graphic art techniques :)

  • @LoriliLee I'll certainly consider that and post it here if I do!

  • Ma si usa la colla vinicola per attaccare la carta???

  • Thank you so much for your CLEAR directions!

  • It's Mod Podge, not Modge Podge. C'mon, it's on the bottle in big letters!

  • Where do you buy the pewter pendants?

    Great tutorial. Love the music.

  • Hi John - Have you ever tried using tape instead of Mod Podge? Put your artwork on a wide piece of tape, then fold the tape in half and press out any air bubbles. Cut as close to the artwork as possible, for a nice finish... I am trying this myself for the first time.

  • Do you print out your images on regular paper, or do you have to use photo paper? Nice tutorial!

  • @Redisaid I use a matte surface paper that is photo quality. I don't use glossy or lustre surface because I suspect it would resist the ModPodge.

I use an Epson Printer with UltraChrome inks that produce a highly water resistant print.

  • Excellent, John! Do you use photo paper for your images, or can regular paper be used?

  • For those that would like to know of somewhere that carries the supplies, try photo jewelry making. I hope this helps you all.

  • Hi John, I absolutely love your jewelry. I am so facinated with this type of jewelry making and by the way, the music is not bothersome at all and I can hear you just fine. Anyway, I have a question, if I see something on the net can I use that as the artwork for the jewelry. I can't draw and not sure if you need to to create jewelry. Thanks again for sharing. You make it seem so easy.

  • Thanks John, this is a great tutoril session 1, 2 & 3, it has saved me a lot of possible mishaps. this is great.

  • Hi John....I was wondering if I was to use stickers instead of paper, do i still need to coat with mod podge? Thanks!

  • @christina8883 I recommend always coating whatever you use for art with ModPodge.

  • Thanks very much for this series of videos! They really helped me through the process - instructions are clear and the extra tips for a good result are useful. Thanks for your time and expertise.

  • who goes to this much trouble for ADJUSTABLE rings? just sayin'

  • Hello. Have any of you seen my new Jewelry design???

  • Thanks for the videos! So, what wholesaler do you get the ring and pendant forms from... I've looked everywhere on the net and can't find anything! I want to make these with miniature copies of my daughter's alternative paintings/drawings. Thanks!

  • Where do you get your pendants or ring ?? Id like to make some pendant

  • nice vid , i like your designs

I have a question where do you get those rings or pendants ??

  • MOD Podge.

  • MOD PODGE! Hello!!!!!!!

  • search ZiennaHelp

    for more awsome jewelry stuff!

  • What on earth is Modge Podge? Is it glue, resin, acrylic? what?

  • were can u get the pictures

  • great.

    thanks for sharing

  • a crafty man I love it!

  • Nice tutorial! However, you're saying the name of the product improperly. ;)

  • I use Glossy paper and I found some resin in a great trial format from a seller on Etsy.

  • 1-what kind of paper do you use to print images? Do you ever use glossy photgraphy?

2- What kind of Mod Podge do you use ("classic", "paper", etc)? Have you ever used it on glossy paper?

  • This is a great tute.. Thank you... Just fyi.. it's pronounced MOD Podge (not modge podge). Briliant.. I am going to try this.

  • great work - love it. Couple of things folks might want to know; you can buy large circle punches with scrapbooking supplies and if you print on photo paper you may not need hodge podge at all. Works for me anyway but I have a photo shop print for me.

  • sound sucks

  • i lovee youuu!

    :D

    thank you for this.

  • this was very helpful! Thank you.

  • Where can I buy this resin online? I'm from Spain and can't find it here... Thank you!!

  • What kind of paper is it?

  • where i can buy this pendants???

  • Etsy

  • very interesting

  • Thank you so much. First video on this subject worth watching and very easy to follow. I love the art you put on the pendants and rings. You are a great artist. Thank you very much for sharing your talent!

  • Does anyone know where you can get the pendents??

  • Hi, could anyone please tell me what is an English name for those trays that are being used here? I cant find it in any uk or USA suplyers shops. Is there any special name for the earing hooks with trays for resin making as well? Do you know the shop on-line where I can get in in a bigger packet? Thank you very much!

  • silver pewter pendant casing

  • hey man, i just cant wait to try this, but i just have a question, what kind of paper are you workin on is it photo paper, regualar printing paper also do you use a regualr ink jet printer?

  • I don't know if this will help you, but I actually cut out those really tiny smutty picture advertisements in the back of a hustler magazine from like 1990 & made rings... I found if you coat it well enough with mod podge any paper should be fine, my first batch actually came out perfect, no seepage or bubbles!

ps just a little fun fact I learned through trial an error, plastic rhinestones will immediately dissolve in the resin

  • @deadthelma

FUNNY...I also learned through trial & error that plastic rhinestones dissolve in the resin...I thought I had this great design until....."The attack of the Resin", like the movie "The Blob"....

  • @CraftyNelle That's good to know Nelle :)

  • Love your videos but the only qualm I have is using pewter since it contains a percentage of lead in it. I won't wear pewter so I would not sell any to my customers. Do you offer a variety of metals in your casing supplies?

  • I, LOVE, YOU!!! I thought I was in love with the woman from resin obsession but You have taken over!!! If I covered 3 inch pieces of paper with mod podge could I dip them in resin to make them have thick coat and be durable??? If not could You give Me any suggestions??? Please and Thank You Boo, Love Mrs. Golden l.o.l. ; ) just kidding it's Juno but I do love You!!!

    Dora Renee' Wilkerson

  • Let me join the chorus of people singing your praise. Thank you so much for posting this!

One quick question tho. Is there anything you would suggest doing differently if I were to use a photo and not a printed image?

  • Quick question on the print out. Your print outs, where they done with injet? Any specific type of paper?

I have been wanting to do this for ages, I don't recall how I found you but I AM SOOOO HAPPY I DID!!!

  • I hear you FrostX :)

I now know the correct pronunciation. Surprising how many people were unaware that it is not Modge.

  • Superb tutorial. Thank you!

Wella, I buy those from a wholesaler, and am trying to get info from them on which of their retailers carry the rings. I'll post that here when I know.

If you google pendant plates, you'll find some suppliers for those.

  • where do you get those metal forms?

  • @wella30000

They're called Bezels (Bezel Trays) and they're expensive.

  • I found your thread on craftster. I just wanted to say thank you for this wonderful tutorial. I added it to my favorites.

Your etsyy shop has been in my favorites column for months. You're awesome.
