Can you please tell me the main differences in the s3 and the s4? Am about to buy one but can't try one out so I have to go with what i hear. So whats the difference in sound & playability?
@jeppejeppenej S3 = rosewood fingerboard - warmer sounds, less high mids, but more presence.. not as punchy. S4 = maple fingerboard, very snappy, more aggressive - i prefer the feel of it... the tone is better for greg howe'ish sounds.
Hey Steve, I think I really loved this tone here with the LoneStar better than with your Mark V, Legacy II, Cornford Hellcat, and the Port City Sahana. Great tone! Andrew.
@erusmil This one is Rootbeer Stain - it looks very similar to Bengal Burst.. I had a hard time choosing between the two - the dealer had the same guitar in both colors, oddly enough! You're going to love your Suhr.. It's well worth the wait!
Steve, nice job man as always! I would love to dub my crappy playing over yours just to make it sound more interesting...lol! Keep up the e good work man!
hi i think ur awesome at guitar. can you check out some of my vids and tell me what you think? I'm 13 but be harsh and tell me what to improve on. i want to get a suhr but i needa be ready.
Great demo, your tone is fantastic. and I really want to get myself a suhr, but kinda torn in between few choices, and since there's no suhr dealer in my country, yeah.
Can I ask couple of questions.
Do you think if I play fusion, but as well keeping the option for progressive metal and blues rock, should I get the modern model instead? but with the humbuckers on modern model is it possible to achieve smooth fusion tone similar to yours?
hmm.. i'd honestly say that you could get by with either.. i view the modern as more of a shredder guitar.. i'd probably go with a pro series, with a HsH configuration.. you can definitely get metal tones on it, and it would still have the versatility of a 'strat'
Great tone! Sounds very good. Nice playing as well. :)
I'm not very knowledgable regarding fusion... Is this a rhythym section that allows room to improvise over it using the chromatic scale? Or is there more to this than that?
chromatics can really be used in any situation.. though it may not sound as appealling as it does in a funk/blues/jazz genre.. i personally love single chord grooves! they allow a lot of freedom for improv! its very common to go in and out of key when playing this style
wow , you are soo good man! nice lines , i used to have a lonestar special, i could never get that sound of it.. i also had an ibanez rg1570 with dimarzio tone zone pcikup and air norton.. probly why it didn't that sound im guessin...?
i used to have a 1570 as well! seemed kind of limited to the heavier side of things.. my secret with the lonestar was to have the treble very high, with the presence very low.. also, mids were cranked up... its all about the mids, man!
ha!! my hair is 'long' in this vid.. getting it buzzed tomorrow for a mini tour this weekend.. i'm actually a BJJ fighter, and i weigh 130 when im well-cut
Fantastic! Thoroughly enjoyed listening and watching this - some wonderfully chromatic/"outside" lines in there which weave through the changes seemingly with ease. Hope you're enjoying your G-System, keep up the great music!

I have a red S6 on the way and I am so excited about it.
What I would like to ask you is, are you using full bridge humbucker, or just the one coil?? I am trying to achieve that fusion type of tone.
JPMike 11 months ago
@JPMike Congrats! In this video, the bridge humbucker, and then the neck pickup.. No splits.

What is the finish on that S4?
I have an S4 on order from October. Scheduled for next month.
I went with Bengal Burst but it is hard to tell from the website how that will look.
That guitar you got just looks incredible. It is killing me waiting for mine.
Incredible playing BTW!
