This beautiful band was actually formed in Toronto, back in the 60's. I watched their televison show in the 70's and early 80's and loved it. Their show ran on CBC on Saturday nights before HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA, and let me tell you it was such a joy to watch. My background is Irish. RIP Jimmy Ferguson, he was such a funny guy and he made me laugh at a very young age. THE IRISH ROVERS are a class band that made a lot of people very happy. Isn't that what life is all about?

i loved them as a kid. especially the unicorn song! whats the lead singers name the guy with the hat and beard, the guy that sings the unicorn song? i remember as a little girl i have a crush on him. LOL

My god it so takes me back. In Ireland this show was broadcast by UTV (Ulster television) around 11 - 11:30 at night. The show opening song really puts a smile on my face all these years latter. :-) :-) :-)

I have good question... Is There ANYWHERE at all you could by a DVD of the their show.?? would the CBC have it perhaps.?? it would be great to have.

I vaguely remember the TV program... Hmm... Rita McNeil had her own TV Show and the Rovers had two. It seems in Canada, all one has to do is sing 'folk music' and be vaguely Canadian and one gets a TV show... Gotta love that Can Con...

I remembered watching this show on WCSH-TV Channel 6 an NBC affiliate station out of Portland, Maine., and they only aired on Saturday afternoons of every week I believe.

What happy memories this brings me back when, I was only a little girl back in the early 1980's living in New Hampshire!
