@highschoolmusical841 I guess it is easy to reject what you don't understand. And you have no reason to force yourself to accept it because it isn't happening to you. So you can click off here and go on with your life. These guys have some wires crossed and what they need in life is different that what you need. To each their own, yes? I, for one, can certainly not tell others what to feel.
ummm its not true that ppl dont react to girls dressed to macho....I know I did react that way to a girl...i did apologize to her but i first thought shes a guy and then when i discovered when she was a girl i was like wat he said i duno what to do or say lol
"They all hang out in groups of five and it seems to be because they have a fifth of a personality each"! Eddie is the best. I wonder what he was like as a teenager, I wonder if he was this funny. God, he's is hysterical!
nowadays guys where eyeliner alot so its more commonplace. but you can Can get mistaken for a bloke of youre a girl. i used to have less hair than a crew cut. and people Do get confused.
Unless they try to run for president. Then they get mocked about their "pantsuits" and when they play the game and dress and wear make up like the barbie doll men want them to be , they still get criticized for how much it cost. Hasn't been so long since we watched Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin get criticized about their wardrobe when that's the last thing we should have been focusing on.
@brainwashedmasses I don't think those criticisms were really about the way they dressed. I think it was more about their politics than anything and it's the usual trick in politics of trying to distract voters with minute details.
Whenever Eddie talks about this, and suggests the Idea of walkin into a shop to buy a dress (as a man) the audience laugh? As if its a rediculous concept.
frustrating...In the moment he's justifying it, people are laughing at its impossibility
But the beauty of it is that he doesn't really need to give a damn about what the audience thinks; he was just answering the question honestly and trying to explain how dumb people are about it. the audience laughing just proved his point. He doesn't need to justify anything to anyone, because he is quite successful, transvestite or not, and the opinion of the audience isn't going to compromise that...
Yeah for definite. Cringe. Still all the same it must be hard to have him on a talk show and try to control whats going on, he goes off on some fantastic tangents... lol Legend
Ahh, he's hilerious. You can just see him getting more and more wound up as she fails to get crosdresing.
He's wrong about women having total clothing freedom. They have *more* freedom, cirtainly, but if it was total then women shoping in the mens section wouldn't get wierd looks and directed repeatedly to the lades section.
There is no specific item of clothing that I can think of that if a woman wears it there is an instant "You cannnot wear that!!" reaction from people. But there is a female dress code.
I have had comments about "dressing like a boy" or not wearing makeup, etc.
Thus "close but not quite."
I think the lucky part for females is that negative criticism for breaking gendered dress codes tends to not be knee-jerk or violent, such as males get.
i disagree. i've shopped in the mens section and gotten no looks or offers. I've never seen a women get harassed for wearing mens clothes. Unless it's like punk vs Hillary duff or something. But I do believe that women's have the ability to wear anything without betting harassed (in comparison to a man in a dress would be harassed)
If you are a woman shopping in a men's dept they probably thought you were buying a gift, and vise a versa. But when I worked in a dress shop trannys would come in and buy dresses from me. I got in trouble for letting them try the dresses on. But they appreciated being treated nicely and my business boomed!
It's funny. I love Ruby, as a person as a comedian. But she is still clearly soooo American. She's so hung up on the female/male sexuality thing. She blows 5 minutes on this interview. Transvestism is not being a drag queen. He's str8!. He just likes wearing women's clothes. His point is brilliant. Why can't we wear whatever the hell we want? It is 'society' that shouts you down. Go Eddie!!!
I'd say this is probably before or after Definite Article. Not sure though since he does alot of bits from Unrepeatable and Definite Article. So in the mid-90s I'd say.
Yeah, Eddie was good, but I severely dislike this woman who seemed to be more interested in showing off her vocabulary than talking to the immensely funny guy.
Really? I've never seen her before, or heard of her.
All I'm saying is she was either interrupting him, or not letting him speak. When you watch an interview, you watch it for the guest, and not the Inteviewer. And I feel she didn't give him enough time.
Actually, I was expecting it to be worse from the comments about Ruby.. I actually found this entertaining. If you ever check out what those horrible women on The View did to him.. this is actually ok.

About how women can wear whatever they want now: my father is always scolding me saying how "girls aren't supposed to wear boy's clothes"
My dad's really old-fashioned in the women-wear-dresses way.
I hate skirts and dresses. -_-
I don't even wear boy's clothes like he says!!
I wear jeans and a T-shirt most of the time. I don't really care how I look.

they don't. generally, other than your odd men's shop, women are free to wear what they want when men can not.
hools258 3 years ago 4
I will say that women have a lot more freedom in what they wear. However they- we =do not have total clothing freedom, close but not quite.
