I was born in Guatemala but have lived in the US for about 14 years, I was always curious about the land or lands of my European ancestors, I was amazed but not surprised that the nation that is now called Spain has gone trhough so much turmoil in the same way that the Spanish Colonies did in Latin America.

This a great history lesson for me.

So I am gessing that the reason thre are many spanish dialects it is because a lot of the Spanish "States" used to be their own Nations?

Not just spanish dialects,you mean languages and thats normal and common in Europe...in spain the only nation ho existed and exist is spain.

But some people might tell you stupid things about other countries,the same ho kill people by bombs or shotheads....are you gonna believe them? ....the reason that spain has many languages its to long to explaine here.

yeah, each one was a country near the year 1200, there was the Granada's kingdom, Catalunya, Aragón, León, Navarra... when these litle countries conquered Granada they started to join, Catalunya and Aragón had joined up and their king Fernando married Isabel from Castilla the other big country of the peninsule so there Spain born.

So in fact, it's not spanish dialects, they're not, they are languages, not dialects.

yes, you are right. they had they're own kingdom. so did galicia, cantabria, valencia, andalucia, castilla, la mancha, canarias, baleares.... but now, it is all one. there are many different languages, of course. but that happens in many countries. it happens in switzerland, in italy, in the usa... all over the world. that is the beauy, the richness.

I get your point. but this is basically an execuse to justify any occupation ...like saying just accept it! those people don't want to be part of Spain, they don't feel they're part of it, they say just there is a country called Italy, France..and Purtugal, there should be a country called Catalunia! are you from italy? catolonia was never a country r kingdom,it was Aragon, (ZARAGOZA) ho even conquered the kingdom of Napoles or Sicilia. her name is Marina "la Canillas". Both bands in the beginnig were really similar but nowadays there are some differences... i prefer Ojos de Bruj, they preserve a real and personal sound, more genuine....
