This reminds me of the difference between a person with a positional title of... "A Manager" and a real leader who is empowered by the people who look to them for their knowledge, skills and character.

Having a title doesn't change the fact the a person either has influence or they don't.

All that a title does is buy a person a little time to prove themselves as a leader or prove that they're in over their head.

If they do not, then the fault is in your lack of belief. Who can argue against this circular reasoning? Some of the followers of these gurus are already successful and just looking for a "spiritual" fit. Most are not but searching for the secret elixir of success. The main beneficiaries are the gurus.
