Ok, this is very similar to what Eckhart Tolle teaches. I have tried it but it has its limitations because we have active minds that cannot be stilled for long. You can FORCE yourself to stop thinking but it's not natural. The fact is that your next life after your body dies will be a realm of thought. This has already been proven by Edward C. Randall who contacted thousands of people who have died. They revealed undoubtedly that the world you enter when you die will be a world of thought.

Yes, "I am"ness... a neat way to call/describe consciousness. Our conscious is continuous? It gets deactivated during sleep - while there still is an Iamness in half-sleep or dream states (albeit not a very "conscious" one, heh), it disappears during large chunks of our sleep.

I AMness is an assertion of an inherently existent omni-present "ground" or self, not unlike the assertion of "I am That" in Hinduism. As comfortable and reassuring as that may be, a truly independently or inherently existent thing, by definition, cannot relate to anything! There is no ground.

Ok, this is very similar to what Eckhart Tolle teaches. I have tried it but it has its limitations because we have active minds that cannot be stilled for long. You can FORCE yourself to stop thinking but it's not natural. The fact is that your next life after your body dies will be a realm of thought. This has already been proven by Edward C. Randall who contacted thousands of people who have died. They revealed undoubtedly that the world you enter when you die will be a world of thought.

The good and bad are necessary to help us grow, so long as we do not become dysfunctional. If thoughts because overwhelmingly negative then shifting to the present moment would be helpful. Being one with the present moment, and not indentifying with form. Yes, "I am"ness... a neat way to call/describe consciousness. Our conscious is continuous? It gets deactivated during sleep - while there still is an Iamness in half-sleep or dream states (albeit not a very "conscious" one, heh), it disappears during large chunks of our sleep.

Considering Wilbur's extensive research and writings related to Buddhism, I'm surprised to see that he is re-articulating the very viewpoints Buddha refuted. I AMness is an assertion of an inherently existent omni-present "ground" or self, not unlike the assertion of "I am That" in Hinduism. As comfortable and reassuring as that may be, a truly independently or inherently existent thing, by definition, cannot relate to anything! There is no ground.

"I am ness" would be present when one is aware of oneself, when one gets their first memory, and in so is an object, not a subject. It's merely self awareness.
Theoretically the universal law is nothing but a vibrational frequency upon which every other thing is based. It is the physics of the universe. It is present within the universe. When the universe goes, there will be nothing. The universe is not eternal. Neither is "I am ness".

@crueljudge Actually, in the state of "I amness" you tend to deal with these problems better. Being in the "present" is just a state of calm and collective awareness. It doesn't mean you sit there like a rock and do nothing. In the egoic state (That you just demonstrated) you tend to be taken by emotions and judgments, leading to bad decisions based and self torment.

This mans argument may be true in a way just like the fact that all our cells are made from non living atoms and in theory we are non living. we are no more special than a pc computer or robot, etc.. that perceives different type of information. I think the meaning of life is for us to perceive. How do you know an object exists if no one is perceiving it?
