Indeed! I was only 10 when I first watched this, and it just was another epic sci-fi thriller that I remembered for a long time. It's kinda shock when you realize what they're hinting at.
What a fun, campy movie. It had a clever way to reintroduce the "alien takeover" concept, though the aliens often appeared more like an antagonistic force rather than an actual race of people.
That's also why I find it silly when viewers proclaim this movie as a metaphor for whatever social grievance they have at the time. Absolute magnet for conspiracy nutters, but that's also part of the fun it brings. :)

They were NOT cool with the political message, so Carpenter said "Screw that!" and made the film independently, with a MUCH smaller budget.

That may and probably will change as we learn more about the brain, but for now mind control is a science fiction/fantasy story device. The only form of mind control that exists now is gullible people not thinking critically. Kind of like most people commenting on this video.

Glasses help to see world from 5th viewpoints, and help to merge 5th and 6th. I suggest same technic from 7th but not only with 6th, but with 6th and 5th "eyes". So 5th has "eyes", and I'm thinking what can suggest for 6th to time travellings :)
