  • i would like the addition of chess clocks !

  • Did someone play that hot girl to walk by at 12:49 ? ?

  • lol agreed wtf my dice bag has like 85 dice in it because i used to play warhammer? i constantly place in my local FNMs so how does my bag make me a bad player.

  • luck is deadly imagine being mana screwed

    your dead

  • heh heh, donks...

  • fire marshal wants to kick out all the R burn players!

    LOL

that's some funny geek humor right there!

  • hot girl at 12:48

  • Yeah, she was also one of the 1000 15 year old cheerleaders that were there.

  • wait do you actually know that or are you just kidding? I assume they were going to a tournament, but why did they stop by at a GP

  • I liked this episode, it was a nice one just for him to sit back and view the players at work, the chat with the Judge was fun, and "sizing up" uknown players was informative to me, I have difficulty when I play a new person to find their weaknesses if you will, find out where I can through my cards to hurt them the most etc, thanks Evan!

  • lol, you sound like your from a news group.

  • lol, kinda huh ^^ that was a weird comment from me o.O it is a good episode though ^^

  • u can say the same thing for any "pro" in any thing, whether its a sport or any competetive thing in life. so dont be mad at pros for playing the best cards. they get paid to do it - if u got paid to do something u want to do well or youll get fired. i mean its not their fault u cant afford the best cards or what not, thats about it.

  • that was what I thought before, but you see... it is the same with other things and pro's there are totally focus doing it. I bet they have some more life, at least everyone should have different hobbies to not get weird at all.

  • yeah that's fucked I was a really noob player and I didn't want to be a jerk by calling judge. The guy was blatantly stalling and he ended up winning that game because I made a mistake out of sheer frustration. He also got $20 store credit, which would've been mine had I not made that err.

That grin on his little smug face is forever ingrained in my mind, little cheating cunt.

  • My comment was directed at justinbomia78, btw

  • I thought MTG was about community. What is the deal with ripping on people for using a Crown Royal bag? Just because you play events, you're suddenly the end all be all of Magic? The casual players support Magic just as much as the spikes in tourneys and don't take home any prize money. I kill you as fast as I can, what ever, try playing a multiplayer game or unique format casually, for fun, and see what happens against a CR bag user.

  • great video. I always enjoy these interview style episodes.

  • interesting, the best player in the last three years combined says luck is a factor in magic, and the other guys who have done a little bit (minus cedric the entertainer who has done nothing) think luck is not a factor....hmmm. LSV hit it on the head, we have all lost games due to forces beyond our control. Also if luck were not a factor the best player would always win, and guess what no one would play, don't beleive me go ask chess. If luck were not a factor Kai Budde never loses a PT.

  • Luck is a factor, but I'd say it's miniscule, compared to factors like skills and what cards you use.

  • Very miniscule ..the only part of the game that could be seen as luck-- is draw, and top deck.

  • Yes. Although those can affect the game to a ridiculous amount. That's probably why the best players use few different types of cards, but more of them.

  • Not sure what you mean, since Cedric top eighted GP Columbus four years ago. And to prove that you need to do more research before making baseless claims, previous to Craig Jones' prolific Helix top deck, Kai held the right to luckiest of all time, after he TD'd a Morphling to get back in and win game five against Tommi Walamies at Pro Tour New Orleans 2001. So the exact inverse of your comment is true: Kai would have actually had one less PT win if he didn't get lucky at that Pro Tour.

  • What Evan is doing (and it's his show) is putting on who he thinks is cool, or who Evan thinks will make him cool. I'm pretty sure their were better options than Cedric like Tyler Mantey who is rookie of the year currently and has made 2 gp top 4's. And Kai doing that proves luck exist which is my point, Kai during his time was considered the best but did'nt win every pro tour, the players he lost to were not better, hence my point if luck were not involved the best player would always win.

  • its not luck, its just part of the game. in any sport, not saying magic is a sport... which if poker is than sure magic is too ... but the best team doesnt always win, its part of the game. esspecially in certain things like that

  • es la primera vez que escucho a fabiano hablar asi de un deck, usualmente estan gracisos, jej.

  • Alright, the elf deck is not as bad as people think. And so easy to make and is about the cheapest deck to take a 1st place i'v ever seen. So just play it if you cant beat it. Simple.

  • i couldn't help but notice the woman pass behind riki @ 12:48-50. kinda looked like she flinged her hair like that for the camera lol

  • get a life

  • I agree, just b/c u play a lot, doesn't mean you can act and talk like you know everything about how people are going to play. This is just a card game..

  • playin a lot makes u a better player, playing against better people to. u just know the ins and outs of the game, makes u better. it cant be master within a week thats forsure

  • Makes since people who use dice bags are likely to be bad players and players who use pen and paper are likely to be good. thats a funny generalization by a bunch of dorks trying to be cool in a game designed and played by dorks. I will now make a generlization of my own, If you are really good at magic like pro level and are single you are probably a virgin because you spend too much time playing and traveling, Which makes it hard to socialize with other females.

  • that's a right generalization. and wafo-tapa might be really gay.

  • Ah MTG pros, the guys who failed at playing poker but still think they know everything. Hilarious as always.

  • Yeah and in no way are you acting like you know everything about a bunch of people you've never met.

  • Dear Evan.

I really love the magic show, and I always wait each fridays with excitement just like a kid who wants know what will happen in the next Ninja Turtles episode.

but this is NOT what I want to see! yeah, I know these people appearing in this video is cool guys/ladies, and what they talk about Magic is right. but I watch the Magic show to hear YOU talkin, not them! and we had tons of news to talk about this week, so please make your next video awesome as it was.

  • what's the nicest way to call a judge?

  • JUUUUUUDGEEEEE!!!!!

  • "Grand master of judgement and fate! I wish to call upon your services and wisdowm!!!"

  • Loudly yell "JUDGE" and raise your hand and keep it raised until a judge aknowledges you. Can't tell you how annoying it is to get called and not know where it came from.

  • you know,I miss the 20 minute magic shows, they are always 9-15 minutes recently,

  • donk, loose... magic players are using alot of poker terms...

  • I kept wanting to hear "humming, all the way to reno" from those transistions

  • cool epsisode wouldhave liked to see who won tho

  • Having played with chess clocks before, i know that it does not work. It just muddles everything up.

  • Towards the end Nassif looked like death 0__o

  • haha so true

  • GP ATL = no fun....

  • Nassif made me lol so hard

  • How do i play Magic the gathering online.

  • Lol, there is good ol' jon sonne. i miss that guy, he used to come to my FNM

  • Epic finally with the music and the *dying* Nassif realizing that he's been filmed...

On another note to bobudess: you've got serious issue...

i didn't even notice the girl while the judge was talking and she is nothing close to been hot seek help please...

  • the girl in 12 whateva ... u guys need to get a life, she is like 16 and you guys are prolly like 35 so please, thank u

  • Saito when he was being filmed on the first interlude he's like "ohnoes, being filmed AGAIN -.-"

  • rouge wave and wilco this time ... your taste in music is great ... put up one of your playlists somewhere

  • PROTIP: Shoot at the elf deck until it dies.

  • 12:45, she is so cute,

i hope she is a player, that would be awesome.

  • I wish she went by slower

  • Yeah.. i agree,

    she went by too fast,

    she was an irregularity.

    One of great significance.

  • I once commented on a report for Star City Gays about the prettiness of a female opponent of mine, and I got crap from both the Ferret and from some ugly wench who wrote on a hick website from the bowels of Kentucky.

I never saw that pretty girl again, sad to say.

  • wait, the clan of the cave bear got in your face over calling a girl pretty?

  • Yep. Some schmucks had a website and store based out of Danville, Kentucky, a town whose best days were over 200 years ago, dis me. Happily, karma struck them as they got robbed blind and nobody found out who did it. It was a female writer who was dog ugly. Ugly women hate being reminded that men find other women attractive.

  • a bit too far, but if they were getting on you back merely for finding someone attractive that would have been annoying.

  • aww that is sad, magic needs pretty girls to show that it is a game for all demographics,

we also need old people, celebrities and TV coverage,

    but mostly pretty girls

  • hehe :p

kick out the red burn players :p

  • California State Rocks!!!

And why they didn't kick out

    all the red players

  • Great show, Evan. I enjoyed the interview you did with the judge. What's up with Nassif? Is he emo?

  • Sometimes people get tired.

  • Wow, at 5:07 that's the girl I lost 2-1 to in round 6 of Alabama States. I think she finished 4th or 5th. Kari, I think?

  • kali

  • Aww no Chapin? lol

  • It must be nice getting paid to play magic as well as free planes tickets and other perks. I would some day like to accomplish that myself. Whichever level it is that you get suck things.

  • Hey Evan! This is Tyler, I introduced my self in Atlanta. Great show as always man. That pair of Kreshes in your pool end up gettin the job done?

  • lol did Nassif 0-2 drop or something? he looked depressed

  • man soooo many girls were next door. it was unbelievable.

  • Magic is 50% luck, 50% cards

  • you must be 50% retarded, 50% mentally disabled.

  • I lol'd!

Magic is a mix of luck, cards and skill... you can't measure each part...

  • except that its not

  • Casual magic where most people dont have four-ofs in their decks....its close to that lol

  • Great as always, keep up the great work!!!!

  • Was it me, or did Nassif look dead at the end of that?

  • I was thinking the same thing. lol

  • I just want to come in with a huge bag of dice but use an awesome deck that doesn't need dice!

  • Who's that girl next to Nassif? And why do they look like they're dying?

  • What does Gerry Thompson's hair look like?

  • Gerry Thompson doesn't actually have the top of his head.

  • Matted and greasy? :p

  • Ahhhh... nice one :)
