this is actually entertaining. "shoot if necessary", "avoid enemies". makes this tough but not impossible. so was it rly necessary to shoot the Rs and Bs? if thats so then why not shoot the S? would cut the time a bit.

also at 7:42 u could have jumped over the laser that shoots down. would have saved a few seconds. but yeah this is an old TAS.

@LadyRancor This is the pacifist run of Contra. The Spread Gun is useless for Pacifists. The Machine Gun is accurate to where the player needs to shoot. As for the Barriers, invuln. does help and the Rapid Fire is a boss slayer.

@LadyRancor the way of playing is to proffesional :). u jumped 1pixel away of enemy's and bullets. that's the reason why i asked 'did you cheat?' I also use save load states. but on keyboard when i use "w""x" as AB- buttons and directions the won't work sometimes. or i can jump or shoot

I can verify beating level 1 as he does is 100% possible without cheats, slow downs, or rerecords... but through total true play.

The Energy Zone just takes practice. Anyone can beat it in 1 life and no special guns, and even without the Barrier if they're patient enough.

He must used auto-fire pad... and some chats, look for ex at level 2: in normal game "the eyes" in the wall that you have to destroy aren't broken aftes few shots :/ btw...the video is recorded in incrased speed... normally nes isn't runnig so fast... :/

It's tool-assisted. The video is obviously real, but it's not actually played. The only thing this really shows is that you (assuming you're the one who actually did this) have a good theoretical understanding of the game, not that you necessarily have the technical skill to make that understanding come to fruition when it comes to the actual game.

Note that the description says "tool-assisted". That means that the author played the ROM under emulation, slowed the gameplay down to a really slow speed, and then played through it (probably editing together the best run of each level). If you slow the speed down enough, anyone with sufficient patience can ace this game. And if you don't need to ace all 8 levels on the same recording, that cuts down hugely on the number of retries.

When you see one bullet on the screen there can actually be up to 4 fired within the same frame (since he's playing the ROM so slow that it's essentially like having a really fast turbo controller). So each apparent shot is like 4.
