I was there! B.S. was way late coming on stage and people had to work the next day. The riot didnt start because of the band leaving it started because their manager came out and said "This isnt 1776 anymore so just cool it!" So weird, it took people a second to realize what the dude was talking about and when it hit home, the shit hit the fan. I often wonder if he had just come out and been cool about it and explained someone was hurt perhaps none of it would have happened.
@MandyMaidstone Leave it too an arrogant Limey to run his mouth like that? Ha-and they call us "thick"??? You are right tho about embraizzened statements. It is pretty amazing how demeanor, tone, and choice of words can turn a bad situation into a worse one?...Did you get hurt?
I agree hurling shit is fucked up. But unless your noggin is split open, best to go ahead and play, instead of letting one asshole ruin it for everyone.
I was 13 years old and 9th row with 3 friends. We got out just when chairs started being thrown.
The show was billed as the Black and Blue tour. Blue Oyster Cult was awesome. They played longer than we expected and then there was a very long intermission. I recall it was just before 11:00 when Sabbath came on stage. By that time people were so pissed off, stuff was already being thrown.
I was there with my younger brother . You are right , there was a very long intermission . And , back then , the drinking age in wisconsin was only 18 . So a lot of people had a lot of time to drink . and throw stuff. Very bad . We got out of there quickly ; we saw the ambulance pull up.
