  • Thanks WMG for keeping us from hearing a song that would accompany the video. I hope the S.O.P.A bill passes so we can see more internet policing!!!!

    Much respect to Bryan Berard.

  • fuck that senators faggot. he should be forced to watch his wife get raped and his children get molested. faggot sack of shit. fuck the sens.

  • BRYAN FUCKING BERARD, HOW COULD YOU NOT KNOW WHO TAHT WAS UNLESS YOU WERE A ROCK WITH A MORON LIVING UNDER YOU!?

  • was that Hossa with the wild swing?

  • He also recorded an NHL record in 2006 when he became the first NHL player to test positive for steroids! VERY NICE

  • Wow, I can't believe he returned the 6.5million disability check because he loved the game so much. That shows integrity!! Awesome, keep it up!!!

  • then he played for the jackets

  • Respect! tough guy

  • Respect!

  • It's a shame that Berard was playing arguably his best hockey while a Maple Leaf...He was starting to silence many of his critics with better 2-way play, and a greater awareness in his own end of the ice...Toronto had big plans for Berard.

  • "One of the best" oh please!

  • i think the eye injury with blood was a lot more disgusting than clint malarchuk's neck injury with lots of gore. hope berard is fine in these days too. sad thing to happen.

  • Great video.Bryan Berard was a very talented defenseman. He was beloved by Toronto fans.He was not only a great player who played with respect for other players and the game. But obviously a great person with a lot of heart. It shows how much passion, determination and perseverance he had to keep playing hockey. He underent seven operations and was fitted with a special contact lens that allowed him to meet the league's minimum vision requirement of 20/400.

  • He's the best player on my NHL 08 game

  • gog to my page and

  • hey, hey, hey you! yes you the video maker! whats the video called in the intro where one of the hockey players get their head stuck in between the boards?

  • good job bryan!

  • Im english, and i aint muchh for ice hockey, But its a great story :)

    Bryan B x

  • He still came back strong, but his best years were before the injury.

  • Great Video!!

  • put some ice on it

  • I hate players who can't control their stick. I almost got one in the eye the other day, was to the side of it but was close and I got cut too.

  • this almost made me cry...even though it's no sound lol!

he was very brave and I'm so happy for him that he got to return to nhl.

  • I call all sports gay now, i even think football is stupid and pointless

  • @drummerdo0od How is football gay and pointless? Actually any other physical sport you can think of... Have you played any of them?

  • way to go O, nice video

  • he got SPEZZA'D

  • ouch...

  • His eye must of been shriveld cause he lost probs all the blood in his eye

  • visor

  • lol "he was rushed to the hospital so doctors could save his...eye"

  • that is such a great story :]

  • dude that really sucks for him. he was an incredible player.

  • this guy could've been the man if he didnt get injured

  • @JDbear88 i think he is already the man if he could recover from such an injury that 'handicapped' him i think thats more important than playing well. he played well after people thought he was down and he is a great player..

  • thats why you wear the dam clear plastic face shield

  • that is an ASWEOME story! he returned $6.5 mil just for the chance to play again and it paid off. that's dedication and love of the sport!

    wow, just wow.

  • he does love the sport, the moneys not wat gets him its the ice.. hes just a normal guy who loves his "job". Bryans my cousin and hes a great kid

  • Ooh, I feel so bad for both of them. x_o Neither of the Hossas are like that, imagine having to live with having done that for the rest of your life. And of course, poor Berard.

And Avery fails. Hubby's a Bruins fan so I've seen alot of their games-it was really fun watching Chara, Lucic, Thornton, and the gang use him as a speed bag. =) That is if they could get a punch in before he turtled after talking shit. Hopefully the Rangers trade him soon, it's an insult having him on my favorite team.

  • What wasthe songthat used to be played on this vid called?

  • @Biggy1323 : Van Halen-Dreams

  • oh, he's the real man.

    brave!

  • avery is the man okay so shut up n thy should make his carrer into a freakin movie or somthin

  • I was at that game. A very hard thing to see

  • Visors definitely should NOT be mandatory. That's just ridiculous. Freak accidents happen, and it's unfortunate, but that doesn't warrant a league mandate on an equipment change in this situation. Players know the risks and just have to hope that everyone else does their best to control their stick. Gotta feel for Berard though. Couldn't wish that on anyone, except Sean Avery... nah that's still too terrible.

  • Two issues here. One: the "producer" of this video sort of made it seem like the "intense action" in this "crucial game" somehow had something to do with this accident -- like it was a cheap shot or something. Do I even need to argue against this thought process? Two: Bryan Berard was a very promising defenseman -- but to say he was "one of the best" players in the NHL is retarded. Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods? Give me a fucking break people.

  • Respect to this guy not only for working really hard to get back into the sport, but for giving the money back also.... proves the guy loves the game and not the money, worthy of respect.

  • out of everbody i do not watch hockey i went to see one live fun in person but i like to say this was one of the sadest thing i saw in my life thats the only thing this boy was good for and it went down the drain for him yes he recovered but still he was gonna be the best (like micheal jorden or tigar woods........) Oh no wiped down the drain now i cried when i seen it thanks for showing this saying anything can happen in life dont never think it will happen to you

  • I play junior hockey and I have to admit. I hate wearing those bird cage style masks. They really do interfere with your vision, especially when the puck in your feet. I do like the visors though, they should be mandatory.

  • I respect this man.

  • well at least the sheild's on his face now so that cant happen again

  • makes me wonder y the majority of the players still leave there faces prone to the stick, puck and w/e that can hit it

i suggest wearing some sort of mask for protection?

  • that was on a tv show

  • it was ironic that Berard got hit in the eye by an player of the Ottawa Senators, the team who drafted him. Marian Hossa has never been the same since that game

  • who was the guy that got hit in the eye as well. i remeber watching it when i was pretty young and their was a HUGE pile of blood. anyone know??

  • Bryan Berard. awesome d-man the leafs got for next to noting. and the SOB who took his eye out, Mary Hossa, karma is a bi*ch isn't it? guy goes to the cup finals 2 years in a row and both times is playing for the wrong team. i was watching that game at a bar and i almost burned the place down i was soo angry that there wasn't even a call on that play. careless use of the stick whether intentional or not is still a penalty.

  • Steve Y, was hit in the 2004 playoffs

    but no mayor damage though

  • Amazing!! He is an inspiration. Good Luck to you Bryan. Most people would've taken the check. Your hard work and dedication will pay off.

  • by who?

  • The lady in the blue coat is my Cousins Mom or well Bryan's mom

  • He is so awsome

    Atleast he stills plays

He plays on a team in Russia now

  • this is what happens when u dont wear a visor

  • that was fucking shocking, but atleast it has'nt stoped him. thats fuckin fantastic

  • this is a crazyyy video.

  • god ur such a fagget

  • i have the right of mind to cut your cock off and shove it donw ur throat

  • this vid rocked with sound

    fuck youtube

  • awesome video

  • what a moving video! thanks for posting it!! he is an amazing player!

  • i've watched your other videos, they're awesome! but they've turned this into a silent movie! what the fuck?!?

  • great video i fill bad for the guy

  • "This video contains an audio track that has not been authorized by WMG. The audio has been disabled "

Man YouTube has gotten gay since they got bought.....

  • you said it, man. This used to be a kick-ass video, with the audio

  • for some reasonn the volume wont go up it wont let me click it

  • This video contains an audio track that has not been authorized by WMG. The audio has been disabled

  • What a stroy! I'm happy for him that he returned in the NHL!

    Great video! ;)

  • thanks, enjoy the other vids

  • oh wow, im suprised i havnt heard of his story before!! but i actually know how he mustve felt, i havnt had my eye almost ben lost. but i recently recieved extreme head truma, i was pulled from hockey :/ i cried for nights on end when i found out the i wasnt gonna be able to play the rest of the season! Go Bryan!!! (:

  • Hockey is about to give all the power for it. Its very strong to make a comeback after the eye-problem that he got. He is atletic

  • he was the best player because he returned even with eye problems

  • this is inspiration to anyone gret job BRYAN !!!! GO PENGUINS !!! lol

  • that was so nice that he returned his disability check

  • It wasn't "nice". You can't work and receive disability at the same time.

  • ouch ouch ouch ouch ouch ouch ouch ouch ouch

  • good for him, that the rangers signed him

    this made me cry

    hes amazing

    awesome inspiration

  • perfect song for the video

  • its like that gatorade commercial. berard doesnt stop!

  • dang... sad, but how he came back now thats what i call the love of the game.. i play hockey myself and when i saw that injury i knew that the game was changed for all =]

  • i almost cryed

    jk but emotional

  • thanks, check out the other vids

  • this wold take agreat kindof determanation great job berard who currently is with columbux i guess and

  • what song is this?

  • 'dreams', by van halen

  • Jump by Van Halen

  • oops, it's not jump, it's dream!

  • no its higher and higher

    by van halen

  • wowdoes he play today great hero and inspiration

  • WAT A HERO!!!!

  • Good for him, man. Thats determination right there.

  • pauvre ti coeur :(

  • omg there was so much fucking blood

  • he´s a hero!

  • WHEN DID HE RETIRE ??

  • he didnt hes still playing today, but is an unsigned free agent.

  • Also.. Wasnt he accused of taking steriods or something in 2004, or 2006, Cant remember, anyways, that takes alot of courage, !

  • number 18.. was that marian hossa that took the " wild swing on ottawa" I always knew marian was recklass

  • a real hero...

  • just imagine what could have been, if he hadn't been traded, if he hadn't skated that shift, if didn't turn his head. He could be getting payed big bucks, like Pronger, and Lidstrom. The most amazing part is that he had the courage to come back to the sport that ruined his life forever, and give it another try. what a guy, i would want him on my team

  • he had the potential to better than lidstrom some say

  • He will play in Vityaz Chekhov soon! Great Player!!

  • I like brian berrard he's a great hockey player. let me say that again he's THE greatest hockey player of all time

  • and then he git busted for taking steroids. what a hero.

  • i wouldn't say unfortunate future. He's playing this year in russia with a 250,000 a month tax free salary. He doesn't have to pay for food or room and board. He was just at one of my hockey practices he is my teammates uncle...i wouldn't say unfortunate future. He was a great guy who skated with us and did all the drills with us. Pretty intimidating huh?

  • Also, the sen player looked pissed off, he dragged his stick through the air like that intentionally, you are specifically trained NOT to do that for proper aim and safety.

  • Wait, couldnt this ALL not of happened if someone wore a cage... SO many accidents that left many talented players in hopsitals or disabled could have been solved by wearing a proper helmet.

  • i love this guy... not onlt coming back from tht accident but tht he is from rhode island.. I live in ri and he is a hero here as well as everywhere else

  • as much as i hate the sens it looks like it was a freak accident.

  • This was no accident...Hossa is a fucking punk for swinging wildly the way he did...the Sens are and have always been a bunch of cheap-shot artists...it's why they haven't and never will win anything...everyone hates them 'cause they're dirty...this was just yet another example...Berard was the smoothest skating defenceman since coffey and this ruined his career...fuck hossa and fuck the sens

  • isnt it Funny and Ironic that 3 years later in that same Building Vs the leafs Hossa would get a Puck in the eye?

  • berrard is my frikin hero, hes a miracle worker... yur freakin awsem berrard

  • he should be using a visor it be a lot safer

  • this is one of the best video i'v ever seen !! this is awesome but poor guy ! does still plays hockey in NHL?

  • thanks, yeah he played the 2007-08 season with the NY Islanders. He tested positive for steroids in 06, but was man enough to admit it, that he made a mistake

  • same thing happend to me but i was skating my board slashed my eye and i needed major repairs but im still bad of sight in my left eye but i still do everything

  • nice vid

  • god, i thing hockey is a hella (in eric cartmans words) more leathal that football

    GO DET. GO

  • inspiring

  • great video, so sad and uplifting at the same time.

I cant believe anyone would put Hossa down for what happened. Does anyone blame Steve Tuttle for slashing Clint Malarchuk's throat. No it wasnt intentional. Hockey is a rough sport and thats what visors are for.

    Go Sens Go!

  • i was a bit teary

  • Nice Vid ^^ Keep it up... very good work 10/10

  • thanks crazzy, check out the other vids

  • whats the song?

  • 'dreams', by van halen

  • thanks man!

  • good video the guy was good players

  • god damn it hossa

  • the only uplifting part of this video was when the word "playoffs" and "leafs" were used in the same sentence

  • Maybe he shouldn't have refused to play for Ottawa...

  • he didn't refuse to play for the sens, he was traded on the same day they drafted him for Wade Redden, the #2 pick by the Islanders.

  • He absolutely refused to play for Ottawa. His agent informed the team he wouldn't report to camp and he returned to his junior team in September 1995. They then traded him, along with Don Beaupre and Martin Straka to the Islanders for Redden and Damian Rhodes, on January 23, 2006, not "the same day they drafted him".

  • This is so sad "/ too bad Bryan started taking anabolic steroids and messed up his career again :/

  • thats just a miracle. im a girl hockey player and my coach one day was playing in his league and ran into the boards. a check from behind pushing his knee socket up and halfly paralized for the rest of his life. he cant play hockeyanymore .but is now playing on a sled hockey team and coahing again its not what you would call a miracle but for him it meant the world be on the ice again doing what he loves.check out the vids for sled hockey.really cool.

  • thanks o and by the way this is one of the most moving videos i have evr watched.

  • What, why???? The guy got a fortune, you could rip one of my eyes out for that kinda money.

  • what song is this

  • "dreams", by van halen, with sammy hagar as lead singer

  • I was at this game. My Father and I were given tickets to two Leafs games in Ottawa for Christmas that year. We were about 5 rows back from ice level in the visiting team's corner. Amazing seats.

Because of our seats being at the opposite end of the ice, all we saw was Berard drop to the ice. When he got up, there was a huge pool of blood. So much so that it looked black, not red.

We live an hour away from Ottawa. We didn't know what happened until we got home and watch the sports highlights.

  • Awesome!

  • Ooohh my god this is disgusting! poor guy =S the same thing happened to saku koivu (retinal tear and detached retina )

  • man...what HASN'T happened to Koivu?

  • awesome.

  • Great job

  • An awesome guy deserves an awesome vid. Great job, Berard forever!

  • omg! must have hurt, great vid man!

  • i kno him

  • I always wonder what could have been if he hadn't had the injury...

  • Jovanoski had about the same accident while playing for the Vancover Canucks anyway very good vid and very inspirational

  • thanks cool
