Borg - McEnroe, Agassi-Sampras (isnät that the one that all of the sets went to tiebreaks?)... fair play. The former is perhaps the most well known match of all time for its set 4 tiebreaker alone... but I left one out that trumps all of them. 2008 Wimbledon final with Federer and Nadal. I still classify the quality of this match more than the others you mentioned though. But Iäm not a big fan of serve and volley.

It's amazing how much pace he can generate even though he's so scrawny, but it was his speed and smarts that came through in the end. Props to Simon.

WIthout a shadow of a doubt one of the top five tennis matches of all time. Each rally has a little bit of everything in it... but most importantly, each rally you can see how both Nadal and Simon are leaving it all out there. I'll be honest, I never thought much of Simon prior to this match. Since then, despite his drop in the rankings and injuries... I have the utmost respect for him.

Some classics with players like Connors, McEnroe, Lendl, Sampras, Agassi and even Federer and Nadal werer better! Be serious and dont talk about "all time" when you know nothing about older tennis!

@HornyGates Every single point in this match produced something amazing and the level of play is definitely higher than in the old days, when points consisted of 3 shots and a guy rushing the net. Sure there have been great matchups, but the level of tennis in this is up there with the Safin - Federer AUS 2005 SF, Connors-Krickstein USO 1991 and Federer-Nalbandian Shanghai 2005. Simon has won 9 ATP events but still says this is his most memorable tennis moment.

@HornyGates Also, maybe instead of trying to foolishly call me out on what I do or do not know, you could be a bit more descriptive and give examples of better matches, rather than just rattle off big name players. I highly believe you'd struggle to rattle off 5 MATCHES, not matchups, that have produced better quality than this throughout the entire match.

2 guys playing upper long rallyes doesnt mean it is extreme quality. Those 2 players are known for very long plays, no wonder. Thats was an excellent match, but absolutly not one of the 5 best of all times, far from that.

I love the commentator but I had the same impression than him concerning Nadal's last shot. I am not convinced the oak eye view is reliable at 100%. Anyway Simon deserves his winning and I am so happy for this brilliant guy. What a shame he was not able to reproduce such a phenomenal match against former world number one rafael nadal. I wish him all the best for the fututre. Come on Gilly !!!

Great win for Simon but it looks like he was just a flash in the pan. This year he has shown none of this form. That's the difference between him and the likes of Roger and Rafa.

well, simon was on multiple occasions on the verge of getting defeated in this match. so many deuces and break points saved. you cant expect a player to grind in every match as he did today, thats gonna destroy you. its one thing to see this of match once in a while, its another for a player to do it all the time, thats why people were so concerned about rafa's body, nobody grinds quite the way he does.

Simon won this match bcz he exercises Nadal backhand and amazingly he was able to do the whole match and got the result he wanna. nadal couldn't attacted bcz he need is fourhand to attacked simon took away that by attackin his backhand ,and when nadal get the chance simon answer with Great shot and Nadal go back to his shell, by standing way behand the baselane. Good job simon. but unfortunetly Simon couldn't do it again in Australian open 2009.

That was truly a magnificent match. Simon was fighting the way Nadal does everytime. It was really 50/50 match after the first set. Simon was playing like i can defend any hit.

These highlights are a promo for tennis. Such an incredible sport. Every aspect of it was shown in this match. Changing chances for both players, amazing rallies, the crowd going wild and the amazing battle between two players. This shows you're never down and out in tennis. Until the last point everything is possible. Nadal had so many chances, but Simon kept fighting. What a great match by both of them!!!
