What I should have said is "on a mac..." not "in OSX." Most software can be run IN OSX in one of two ways, but everything else can be run on a Mac, you simply have to run Windows. So yes, those pieces of software could run on a mac, simply not OSX, though I believe some of them can. And very easily. And the fact that we have to run Windows to use some programs doesn't mean Windows is better.
The new candybar lets you customize the dock a lot more. Also, if you choose graphite instead of aqua the file listings use grey instead of blue, its a bit easier on the eyes.

The OS is third in market share only, not in quality. Every piece of software you can use on Windows can be used in OSX, one of many different ways. Plus, plenty of programs are for Mac and not Windows. How many professional movie makers don't use Final Cut? Not many of them. Also, you can upgrade Macs, and they're very easy. Several things, like the RAM and Hard drive, are very basic to upgrade. Other things are a little harder, but still possible.
Sounds like a lot of programs coded by people who are a little to sensitive about change.
