This is just a classic case of nature at work...the dog and cat most likely meant no harm to the fawn and were just curious, however as a mother the deer isn't going to let anything happen to her fawn and she saw the other animals as a threat. As a dog lover yes it's hard to watch but that doesn't mean I would agree with shooting the deer...If the roles were reversed and the dog was protecting her puppies I think everyone's reactions would be a lot different.
